Abstract

Indonesia, as an archipelagic nation, faces significant challenges in establishing an efficient food logistics system, particularly in major agricultural centers such as Karo Regency, North Sumatra. This region is recognized as a key producer of vegetables including cabbage, carrots, and tomatoes, contributing strategically to national food security. However, the distribution system has been hindered by extended supply chains, limited infrastructure, and information asymmetry among supply chain actors. This study was conducted to design an optimal distribution network and to evaluate the efficiency of cost allocation using Linear Programming (Minimum Least Cost Allocation) and Distribution Requirements Planning (DRP) methods. Data were collected through field surveys, interviews, and secondary sources from the Central Bureau of Statistics. The findings indicated that the distribution of cabbage and carrots was relatively efficient, while tomatoes experienced significant supply shortages. DRP analysis for the next four periods projected a positive inventory trend, yet declining stock levels highlighted the need for more accurate demand forecasting. Integration of local food systems into national logistics models and the adoption of digital distribution systems were identified as potential solutions. This study is expected to serve as a reference for developing resilient agricultural logistics policies in other regions. Keywords: Food Logistics, Distribution Network, Linear Programming, Distribution Requirements Planning (DRP), Agricultural Supply Chain, Karo Regency.

Abstract

Failures in the transfer carriage at the tippler station significantly disrupt material flow in palm oil mills, contributing to approximately 50% of total downtime during seven months of operation. This study aims to identify critical failure components of the transfer carriage system using the FMEA framework, analyze the root causes of these failures through the fishbone diagram and recommend maintenance improvement strategies. Data were collected through maintenance records, direct observation, and SOD questionnaires completed by three experienced personnel. Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) was applied to prioritize risks, while a fishbone diagram was used to determine root causes. The analysis showed that bearing damage or broken had the highest RPN (189) and represented the primary cause of operational interruptions. Improvement actions including automatic lubrication, stricter inspections, operator training, and higher-quality bearing selection, are projected to reduce failure frequency and unplanned downtime, enabling a shift from reactive to preventive maintenance while improving asset utilization and production stability This study offers a structured, data-driven framework for enhancing equipment reliability in palm oil mills, with practical relevance for maintenance planning and resource allocation. Keywords: Palm oil mill; transfer carriage; tippler station; FMEA; fishbone diagram; critical component

Abstract

The MSME-scale batik industry in Sidoarjo plays a vital role in the regional economy, but product quality consistency remains a challenge due to variations in production processes and the minimal application of data-driven quality control. This research develops a batik product defect prediction model using the Logistic Regression algorithm as an accurate and easily interpretable Machine Learning approach. The dataset consists of 1,250 observations collected over three months of production, covering variables such as dyeing temperature, wax temperature, dye concentration, dipping duration, room humidity, drying duration, operator experience, stamping pressure, and number of products per shift. The results indicate that the Logistic Regression model performs very well, achieving an accuracy of 86.4% and an AUC of 0.91. The variables that most significantly influence defects are room humidity, dyeing temperature, operator experience, and stamping pressure. These findings form the basis for developing a data-driven quality control system that can help MSMEs establish optimal process parameters, manage production capacity, and improve operator skills. This research proves that the Machine Learning approach can be effectively applied in the MSME context with significant practical and operational benefits. Keywords: Machine Learning, Logistic Regression, Batik MSMEs, Prediction Model

Abstract

The traditional instrument manufacturer IKM Kompang Kulit Kambing Medan Kampai experienced major problems with inefficient facility layout. This resulted in losses for the company due to high material handling costs, long production times, and decreased productivity. Systemic Layout Planning (SLP) was the method used in this study, supported by data collection and analysis through the use of relationship diagrams and process flow diagrams. Several new layouts were created to reduce transfer distances and material management costs. This study recently focused on traditional instrument SMEs using structured industrial techniques. In addition, comparing SLP with graphical methods provides a culture-based industrial perspective. The evaluation results show that the SLP approach is the best layout method, resulting in the shortest distance of 78. Meanwhile, the Graph Method resulted in a distance of 184.8. Thus, the Kompang Kulit Kambing Medan Kampai SME must reorganize its production space to be more efficient and effective. This will increase the competitiveness of SMEs and help preserve cultural heritage through sustainable production. Keywords: Facility Layout, Systematic Layout Planning (SLP), Graph Method, Production Efficiency, Culture-Based Industry.

Abstract

The construction sector plays a strategic role in economic development, but also contributes significantly to environmental degradation. The implementation of Green Human Resource Management (Green HRM) has become an essential effort in creating sustainable construction projects through environmentally oriented human resource practices. This study aims to analyze the influence of Green HRM implementation on the performance of sustainable construction projects in Central Java. A descriptive–verificative quantitative approach was employed. Data were collected through questionnaires distributed to 120 respondents, consisting of project managers, site engineers, and HR staff. The data were analyzed using multiple linear regression with the assistance of SPSS 26.0 and SmartPLS 4.0. The findings indicate that four dimensions of Green HRM—Green Recruitment & Selection, Green Training & Development, Green Performance Appraisal, and Green Employee Involvement significantly affect project performance. In contrast, Green Compensation & Reward shows no significant effect. The coefficient of determination of 0.671 indicates that Green HRM explains 67.1% of the variation in project performance. The study concludes that Green HRM plays a crucial role in improving resource efficiency, compliance with environmental standards, and overall construction project effectiveness. Abstract

This study models and simulates the queue system for C driver's licence applications at the Karawang Police Station using ProModel to identify bottlenecks and evaluate improvement scenarios. As a baseline, the total actual time for applicants averaged 129.69 minutes, exceeding the standard of 120 minutes, with a daily output of 54 applicants (6 hours of operation). Two scenarios were proposed: (S1) adding registration units; (S2) adding 3 information units. The simulation results showed that S2 was the most effective: throughput increased from 54 to 139 applicants/day (+85), the aggregate ‘%full process’ percentage decreased from 15.49% to 2.12% (−13.37 points), and the average total waiting time decreased from 79.44 minutes to 68.8 minutes (-13.3%). The mean difference test (t-test, 95% CI) confirmed a significant improvement in waiting time and output. In practical terms, these results recommend a reorganisation of capacity at the clarification stage and arrival scheduling to reduce queues, thereby increasing citizen satisfaction and resource efficiency. Keywords: Bottleneck; Discrete Event Simulation; ProModel; SIM C; Queueing

Abstract

This study aims to redesign the layout of facilities at Tirta Kencana Ban Vulkanisir SME to improve production efficiency. The initial layout had problems in the form of unclear workstation boundaries, which caused workflow disruptions, inefficient operator movements, and the risk of musculoskeletal problems. To overcome these problems, this study applied and compared two methods, namely Systematic Layout Planning (SLP) and the Graphic Method. The research gap was addressed by focusing on the application of SLP in the tire vulcanizing SME sector, which has been rarely studied. The analysis was conducted in several stages, namely data collection, evaluation of the initial layout, and mapping of material movements using the Activity Relationship Diagram (ARD) and From-To Chart (FTC). The dual-method comparison showed that the Graphic Method was the most effective, reducing the total initial material movement distance from 421.5 meters to 349.3 meters, or a reduction of 15.73%. In addition, this new layout improves production flow, space utilization efficiency, and provides practical contributions in the form of reducing unnecessary operator movement, supporting improved ergonomics in the workplace, and minimizing the risk of musculoskeletal problems. Thus, redesigning the layout using the Graphic Method is a strategic solution to improve the operational efficiency and productivity of IKM Tirta Kencana Ban Vulkanisir. Keywords: Layout, Systematic Layout Planning, Tire Vulcanization
