Abstract

Vocational high school in Indonesia is familiar with the concept of dual system education program. There are two places of learning such as school-based learning and work-based learning. A few vocational education institutions have claimed that during carry out work-based learning, they ask students to master some competencies through self-regulated learning without a learning environment that planned. Therefore, this article aims to give an integrative learning design framework for online learning as an effort to guide educators and instructional designers in designing and developing online learning environment that meet with the students need. Shifting roles of educators and instructional designers in online learning, each component within integrative learning design framework for online learning, as well as the features of online learning model are discussed here. So that, educators and instructional designers who want to design online learning model could not only avoid mistakes but also reduce the failure.

Abstract

The optimal learning process conducted by students will reflect the result in their study evaluation. The final score of the subject is determined by two important components: Tutorial (60%) and final exam (40%). Student’s participation in online tutorial (tuton) contributes 10% and 50% for tutorial assignments. Because of the students’ participation in online tutorial (tuton) decreases, whereas it gives a significant contribution, there are a number of factors causing the limit number of students participation. This factor, temporary, is considered by the cause of the student’s internal problems. This research is aimed at analyzing the impact of student’s internal problems to his/her participation in tuton. This is a descriptive qualitative research using purposive informant. Data gained by having an in-depth interview, questionnaire, and observations. The data were analyzed by conducting data category process, data reduction, data display, data interpretation, and data analysis. The results show that student’s internal factor: the low ability in using learning technology and students activity, have a significant impact to his/her participation in tuton

Abstract

Pre- and post-tests were used to assess students’ performance in tutorilas.  In addition, a survey using questionnaire was employed to collect data on students’ perception on the value of the pre- and post-tests in the tutorial activities. A quasi experiment was conducted to figure out the value of pre- and post tests in collecting data on students’ improvement in understanding tutorial activities using tutorial kits. T test shows that there is a statistically significant difference between pre- and post-test scores with score of pre-test is lower than those of post-test. The T test also shows that children’s achievement in experiment group is higher than those in control group

Abstract

This article discusses an Intellectual Property Rights system, especially for the benefit of the distance education researchers. In doing research, researchers have to extort their mind, creativity and intellectual ability to yield something. As the only distance education institution in Indonesia, various development products for the interest of the learning process have been developed by Universitas Terbuka. Therefore, the research findings need to be protected by the Intellectual Property Rights. What we need to do now is to manage those research outcomes regarded as the precious asset of Intellectual Properties owned by Universitas Terbuka

Abstract

Group administrators Learning Pendas’s students is an important part of the system for implementing distance learning services in each Open University Distance Learning Program Unit. However, the description and research related to the role of the board of education officers is still very limited. To achieve this, descriptive qualitative research has been carried out with participatory action research (PAR) strategies for all PGSD and PG-PAUD student management and service activities carried out by pokar administrators throughout the Banten region under the auspices of UPBJJ-UT Serang. The results of the study showed that the administrators of the pendas program had a role in the implementation of distance learning system services at UT Serang UPBJJ especially in promotional activities, new student recruitment, New Student Study Orientation, distribution of teaching materials, PKP / PKM tutorials and compulsory and examination and Diploma Submission Ceremony (UPI).

Abstract

Long-distance learning system has been known in Indonesia far before UT was establised in 1984. The questioning differences between long-distance learning system and conventional system still persist until today. This question is co-related with the doubt of how to implement the long-distance learning system with very large number of students across the nations who are far from the source of learning, and with ununified compentency of the program input. This research is using non-parametric statistics to identify differences of student ability between UT students, X University students, and Y University students, in answering essays of Economic Statistics II measured in 2 categories: comparing question patterns and test results done by students from different universities. For the face-to-face or conventional system, this study use two different institution, X university and Z university, so the comparisons can be done twice to two a different and the same systems. There are 49 respondents that consists of 20 undergraduate students of X university, 19 undergraduate students of Y university, and 10 undergraduate students of UT. The data collected will be analyzed using non-parametric statistics, the Chi-Square Method. From the testing process standpoint, there is no significant difference among students of UT, University X, and Unversity Y. And also between students university X and unversity Y. From the testing result standpoint, students of UT, University X, and Unversity Y show relatively the same result with a degree 95%

The result of the research gave a general picture of students’ self efficacy in using the Internet make use of e-learning in their study activities was considering in average category. The average score of students’ capability of using Internet was 3.73 from 6 Likert scale. The highest score of students’ capability in using the Internet was their ability in reading text. On the other hand, capability that considered low was students’s capability in creating a simple web page using teks, pictures, and links. The students’ awareness in using e-learning for their learning activities was varied. Based on 54.76% students who were using e-learing , 2.38% were in management stage, 21.43% at consequence stage, 9.52% in collaboration stage, and 21,43% in refocusing stage. Abstract

The conventional instruction which is characterized by, for example, seperating schools from their environments, teachers as the only source of knowledge and quiet learning classrooms is no more effective and even hampers the development of student’s potentials. The concept of multiple intelligences and the new finding of human brain’s stratified structure implies a new alternative of instruction in order to bring schools and the educational system in line with new era’s up to date demands. The alternative involves the reform of instructional approach and the information and communication technology (ICT) for education. The school reform must be taken in the context of the education reform
