Abstract

A survey study on the graduates apprenticeship was conducted by the tracer study team of The Faculty of Teachers Training and Educational Sciencies, Universitas Terbuka in 2008. The graduates consisted of them of 10 programs, one of which was the Bahasa Indonesia program. This study was aimed to collect data on graduates profile which was gender, age, current profession, achievement enchanced skills and qualification especially in language and ICT skills. The study also collected data on the graduates perception about the quality of academic services during their study. A series of interview were conducted and some questionnairs were distributed to the respondents, including the graduates and their supervisor. The results of data analysis revealed the respondents consist of 34 males and 48 females, and their ages range from 31 to 60 years old. The current profession consisted of 67 teachers, the rest of them were lecturers, head masters, vice headmasters, administrators, and school supervisors. Their incomes varied from 1 to 5 million rupiahs. Thirty of 82 respondents informed that they received awards, such as Satya Lencana Karya Satya. All of the respondents indicated that their communication skills in Bahasa Indonesia were very well enchanced. In addition, sixty two of 82 respondents reported that they had average level in English competencies and ICT skills. The data analysis revealed that all the respondents indicated high level of satisfaction toward the academic services of the quality of learning assessment however they were not satisfaction toward tutorials of any form. These study results can be able to use as the valuable input for program and services improvement, especially for academic services affairs.

Abstract

Academic counseling in Higher Distance Education is one of the necessary instructional media between the faculty and the students as well as an important device for assisting students to cope and solve their problems. Up until now academic counseling has not been extensively used by lectures and students at the Universitas Terbuka because of a number of constraints such as unavailability of time, the disperse of student domicile and technological barriers. This study attempts to explore and examine the role of on-line academic counseling at Universitas Terbuka in particular at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP-UT). The finding shows that most students consider academic counseling as highly important to support student achievement. Accordingly online academic counseling needs to be more flexible and covers broader area. Online academic counseling needs a separate on-line forum aside the exciting forums such as online learning forum, smart teachers online, digital libraries, online bookstores, e-humanities, and learning object repositories. However, it is expected to be regularly scheduled and prompt response is imperative.

Abstract

Easy for students to use online tutorial package (Tuton) is expected to help them understand the learning materials are provided and help students obtain the value of final exams as expected. Issues raised in this research is the involvement of students to online tutorials provided UT associated with student achievement in the final exams (UAS). The object of research is a student at the Library D2 2014.1 exam period for three courses namely PUST2251-Materials Processing Nonbuku, PUST2254-Promotion of Library Services, and PUST2256-Cooperation and Networking Library. The purpose of this study was to see information about the accessibility of the students in doing Tuton, analyze relationships Tuton accessibility to the evaluation study (final exams). The methodology used in this research is quantitative descriptive method, by analyzing the number of access / Tuton student activities on the implementation and results of UAS students who follow an online tutorial on registration period 2014.1. The results showed that in the majority of total access Tuton unrelated to the value of UAS. The participation rate of students to Tuton very varied, from the lowest level below 20 times to 300 times. The third level of student involvement are the same subjects. Kemudahan bagi mahasiswa dalam menggunakan layanan tutorial online (tuton) diharapkan dapat membantu mereka memahami materi pembelajaran yang diberikan dan membantu mahasiswa memperoleh nilai ujian akhir semester sesuai yang diharapkan. Permasalahan yang diangkat dalam penelitian ini adalah keterlibatan mahasiswa terhadap tutorial online yang disediakan UT dikaitkan dengan prestasi mahasiswa dalam ujian akhir semester (UAS). Objek penelitian adalah mahasiswa D2 Perpustakaan pada masa ujian 2014.1 untuk tiga mata kuliah yaitu PUST2251-Pengolahan Bahan Nonbuku, PUST2254-Promosi Jasa Perpustakaan, dan PUST2256-Kerjasama dan Jaringan Perpustakaan. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk, mencari informasi tentang aksesibilitas mahasiswa dalam melakukan tuton, menganalisis hubungan aksesibilitas terhadap tuton dengan evaluasi belajar (ujian akhir semester). Metodologi yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode deskriptif kuantitatif, yaitu dengan menganalisis jumlah akses/kegiatan mahasiswa terhadap pelaksanaan tuton dan hasil UAS mahasiswa yang mengikuti tutorial online pada masa registrasi 2014.1. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa secara mayoritas total akses tuton terhadap nilai UAS tidak berkaitan. Tingkat partisipasi mahasiswa terhadap tuton sangat bervariatif, dari tingkat yang paling rendah di bawah 20 kali sampai 300 kali. Tingkat keterlibatan mahasiswa dari ketiga mata kuliah adalah sama.

Abstract

Prototype Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) in FISIP Online Community Forum is a program that was developed to achieve efficiency in answering the questions that often arise in the Community Forum Online FISIP related to academic administration problems faced by students of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences UT. Efficiency will be obtained when the manager did not take long for the manager to answer the questions that often arise; not often involve other units to answer the questions that often arise in the forum. Prototype is a prototype developed FAQ that can be uploaded to the Online FISIP community forum. This research is the development of a research carried out in order to develop a program, in this study is a prototype program developed at the forum FAQ Online Community FISIP. The stages of the research conducted as follows: first identify the questions that often arise in the student community forum FISIP Online. Second, develop a prototype FAQ common questions based on the identification of students at the forum posting community FISIP Online in 2010, as well as answers to the questions, obtained from the FGD unit associated with the UT catalog or the book as a reference. Third, the experimental test program that was developed to 6 research respondents, namely the manager FISIP Online community forums. The results showed: first, a question that often arises in a community forum FISIP Online is a question related to problems with the registration (registration schedule, registration fees, transfer of credit), the process of learning (tutorials, teaching materials), test (test schedules, test centers, exam, online exam/SUO, TAP, Test Participant Identification Card/KTPU, test scores). Second, develop a prototype FAQ that contains a list of frequently asked questions of students in the UT FISIP community forum and the answer obtained from a competent source that is Pusjian, Karunika, Student FISIP, UT catalogs and books. Third, the prototype has been developed FAQ efficient function. Prototype Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) merupakan suatu program yang dikembangkan untuk mencapai efisiensi dari jawaban-jawaban yang diberikan pihak pengelola terhadap pertanyaan-pertanyaan yang sering muncul pada Forum Komunitas FISIP Online, terkait dengan masalah administrasi akademik yang dihadapai oleh mahasiswa Fakultas Ilmu Sosial dan Ilmu Politik (FISIP) UT. Efisiensi akan diperoleh ketika pihak pengelola tidak perlu berulang kali memberikan jawaban untuk pertanyaan sama yang sering muncul pada forum Komunitas FISIP Online; tidak membutuhkan waktu lama bagi pengelola untuk menjawab pertanyaan yang sering muncul; tidak sering melibatkan unit lain untuk menjawab pertanyaan yang sering muncul dalam forum tersebut. FAQ yang dikembangkan didesain untuk dimuat di halaman forum komunitas FISIP UT, sehingga mempermudah mahasiswa FISIP untuk mengetahui adanya program tersebut. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian pengembangan yaitu suatu penelitian yang dilakukan guna mengembangkan suatu program, dalam penelitian ini program yang dikembangkan adalah prototype FAQ untuk forum Komunitas FISIP Online. adapaun tahapan penelitian yang dilakukan sebagai berikut: pertama mengidentifikasi pertanyaan-pertanyan mahasiswa yang sering muncul di forum komunitas FISIP Online. Kedua, mengembangkan prototype FAQ berupa pertanyaan yang sering muncul berdasarkan hasil identifikasi, serta jawaban atas pertanyaan yang sering muncul, yang diperoleh dari hasil FGD dengan unit terkait maupun buku katalog sebagai acuan. Ketiga, melakukan uji eksperimen program yang dikembangkan kepada 6 responden penelitian, yaitu pihak pengelola Forum Komunitas FISIP Online yang selama ini sering terlibat dalam pemberian jawaban yang terpilih sebagai sampel penelitian. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan: pertama, pertanyaan yang sering muncul dalam forum komunitas FISIP Online adalah pertanyaan yang terkait dengan masalah registrasi (jadwal registrasi, beaya registrasi, kurikulum program studi, alih kredit, system paket arahan), proses belajar (tutorial, bahan ajar, cara belajar), ujian (jadwal ujian, tempat ujian, syarat mengikuti ujian, ujian online, TAP, nilai ujian) dan kelulusan (IPK, Yudisium, penundaan yudisium, ijazah). Kedua, mengembangkan prototype FAQ yang berisikan daftar pertanyaan yang sering diajukan mahasiswa dalam forum komunitas FISIP-UT serta jawabannya yang diperoleh dari sumber yang berkompetent yaitu unit terkait dan catalog UT. Ketiga, prototype FAQ yang dikembangkan berfungsi secara efisien.

Abstract

This article presents the results of the evaluation of the implementation of Face to Face Tutorial in the District of West Seram, Maluku province on the implementation and the factors inhibiting the implementation of Face to Face Tutorial. Field data collection was done by using interviews and questionnaires. Data were analyzed descriptively that gives meaning to any data collected and presented in the form of percentages and graphs. The results obtained showed that the Face to Face Tutorial implementation consisting of initial activities, core activities and activities performing well late in accordance with the conditions set by the Open University. Meanwhile. inhibiting factors in the implementation of the tutorial, is the distance, transportation, human resources (tutors), and the limited means of communication. Artikel ini menyajikan hasil evaluasi pelaksanaan Tutorial Tatap Muka (TTM) di Kabupaten Seram Bagian Barat, Provinsi Maluku mengenai pelaksanaan dan faktor-faktor penghambat pelaksanaan TTM. Pengumpulan data di lapangan dilakukan dengan menggunakan teknik wawancara dan kuesioner. Data dianalisis secara deskriptif yaitu memberikan makna pada setiap data yang dikumpulkan, serta disajikan dalam bentuk persentase dan grafik. Hasil yang diperoleh menunjukkan bahwa pelaksanaan kegiatan TTM yang terdiri atas kegiatan awal, kegiatan inti dan kegiatan akhir terlaksana dengan baik sesuai dengan ketentuan yang ditetapkan oleh UT. Sedangkan faktor-faktor penghambat dalam pelaksanaan tutorial, adalah jarak, transportasi, sumber daya manusia (tutor), dan keterbatasan sarana komunikasi.

Abstract

This research was aimed to access the quality of non printed learning materials especially video as a supplement for learning modules offered by undergraduate study program of early childhood education (PGPAUD). Data were collected by using questionnaire with 86 closed-ended questions and one open-ended question. Students in their third, forth, and fifth semester from Jakarta, Serang, and Bandung were taken as samples. Among 90 questionnaires distributed, about 69 (76.67%) were returned. Descriptive analysis was employed in this research. It was concluded that the technical quality of the Video Program including sounds, colors, packaging, duration, captions, utilization, and documentation, were good. The quality of instruction in that video was good as well. In addition, the Video Program has high quality content. The respondents also agreed that the Video Program was useful for them as kindergarten teachers. However it was stated that the Video Program was only a little helps in doing their course examination. Meanwhile, the average students score for this subject is B and C.

Abstract

A final project or Tugas Akhir Program (TAP) ADPU4500 is one of the difficulties courses to be completed by students at Universitas Terbuka. It requires learning assistance that can meet the need of all UTs students. One of the learning services that is suitably developed is Compact Disk multimedia, because of its flexibilities and practicality. This research is addressed to produce Compact Disk multimedia that is easily acquired by the student and meet the students requirements. There are several steps in developing a Compact Disk multimedia, those are needs assessment, media technological option, developmental strategy and instructional design process, prototype production process, and test-driving. Needs assessment is needed to get real students requirement view. Script Writer should be intensified in production process to get production result that suits script and avoids repeated production process requiring time and expenses. Students perception of the Compact Disk multimedia TAP ADPU4500 appearance is that it is interesting and attractive. The contents can be easily studied, help students accomplish test exercises, and increase students comprehension to TAP ADPU4500. However, the Compact Disk needs to be evaluated to improve the content.

Abstract

This study aims at investigating gender based students’ stress pattern at Regional office of  Ternate. The respondents of this study were 160 students of Faculty of Economy in At regional office Ternate  consisting 40 male respondents and 40 female respondents of Management study program, and 40 male respondents and 40 female respondents of Accounting study program. To gather the data, a survey method was employed. Data was analyzed by using Importance Performance Analysis. The results showed that nothing was recommended for improvement atthe Regional office of Ternate economic faculty.

Abstract

The problem in developing practical courses at universities that apply the distance education in Indonesia are: 1)It is difficult to determine the place of practice for students because students are spread in different locations; 2)The study program found it difficult to develop a practice course in distance education methods. The development of subject matter practice in the government science study program at Universitas Terbuka has a significant urgency with the needs of the people in Indonesia. This article aims to analyze the development of practical courses in government science study programs, in Universitas Terbuka.This article is the result of a research with a qualitative approach. Primary data obtained from interviews with experts, students, and graduate users. Secondary data includes the results of the literature review, the results of previous studies, and documents relating to practical subjects. The research findings are: 1)Mastery of students in understanding governance as science and art implies not only at the level of mastery of theory and concepts, but also the importance of prioritizing attitude skills and behavior in dealing with government phenomena. 2)The subject matter which has the potential to be developed into practice material is a course related to development, village government, the legislature, and the methodology of governmental science. The implication of this finding is the need to conduct a comparative study in the application of practical subjects at several other universities that use distance learning methods both domestically and abroad.

Abstract

The issuance of the Law No. 20 of 2003 concerning the National Educational System further strengthened the existence of the Distance Education System which was regulated further through Ministry of Education and Culture Regulation No. 24 of 2012 and Ministry of Education and Culture Regulation No. 109 of 2013. The issuance of both regulations also provided opportunities for public and private higher education institutions to administer distance higher education platform, so that universities in Indonesia had many opportunities to provide their learning services through distance learning. Accompanied by technological advancements, the distance learning process got the opportunity to meet the community’s expectations for the reach of higher education. Serious management was needed in managing the teaching and learning process in distance education. Each media had its own characteristics and capabilities in reaching its audience. Therefore, it was necessary to observe what media that should be used in the teaching and learning process. To answer this problem, through ethnomethodology methods based on constructivist thinking, and based on the theory of diffusion-innovation, media interpersonal communication, and decontextualisation of messages, the results of this study provided an overview of how media selection and media utilization in the teaching and learning process in the distance education method.
