Abstract

This study was motivated by the low critical thinking skills of fourth-grade students at SDN Inpres Doridungga in IPAS subjects, with only 39% of students achieving learning completeness. This problem is caused by conventional learning methods that have not integrated the context of students' lives, especially local wisdom values. This study aims to improve students' critical thinking skills through the application of the Student Active Learning (SAL) model based on the local wisdom of Bima Regency. The research method used is Kurt Lewin's Classroom Action Research (CAR) model, which was carried out in two cycles. The research subjects were 18 fourth-grade students, consisting of 10 male students and 8 female students. The research instruments included observation sheets, critical thinking skills tests, and student response questionnaires The research findings indicate an improvement in students’ critical thinking skills from Cycle I to Cycle II, with the mastery rate increasing from 17% in Cycle I to 79% in Cycle II, thereby meeting the established mastery target. The integration of the local wisdom of Rimpu Bima, Uma Lengge, and Mbolo Weki in learning proved to be effective in creating meaningful, contextual learning that was able to activate students. This study concludes that the Student Active Learning model based on local wisdom can improve students' critical thinking skills in IPAS subjects.

Abstract

The low creative thinking ability of elementary school students requires learning that is more contextual, active, and grounded in direct experience. This study aims to describe the implementation of Project-Based Learning using blue pea flowers to strengthen students’ creativity at SD Alam Lampung. The study employed a qualitative approach with a case study design. Informants included the principal, teachers, students, and parents selected purposively. Data were collected through observation, semi-structured interviews, documentation, and analysis of students’ products, then analyzed through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. Findings show that PjBL based on blue pea flowers engaged students in observing, designing, processing, producing, presenting, and reflecting on their products. Students’ creativity appeared in fluency, flexibility, originality, and elaboration through ecoprint, blue pea bika ambon, blue pea pancakes, milk pudding, and lemon blue pea drinks. The study concludes that blue pea flowers can serve as a local project medium for strengthening creativity. The implication is that teachers can use nearby natural materials as creative, collaborative, ecological, and meaningful learning resources aligned with Pancasila Student Profile values. Future studies should broaden school contexts and develop quantitative creativity instruments for stronger empirical evidence.

Abstract

Science learning, especially on social science-based materials, has an important role in instilling character, social skills, and cultural understanding from an early age. However, in practice, social studies learning in elementary schools is still dominated by the use of printed and abstract teaching materials, which is reinforced by the researcher's findings where limited use of technology still occurs in the learning process at SDN Sumberjo 1. This study aims to develop and test the validity, feasibility, and effectiveness of local culture-based e-books with the TPACK approach on the cultural diversity material of science for grade IV SDN Sumberjo 1, Blitar Regency. The research method used is RnD with the ASSURE model through the stages of needs analysis, formulation of objectives, selection of media and materials, limited trials, expert validation, and product evaluation and revision. Data were collected through interviews, observations, questionnaires, and pretest-posttest tests and then analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively using the N-Gain test. The results of the validation by material, language, and media experts showed an average percentage of 92.15% with a very valid category, while the feasibility test obtained an average of 92.19% with a very feasible category. The implementation of e-books resulted in an increase in creativity with an N-Gain of 0.60 and cultural literacy of 0.57, which is considered moderate. These findings indicate that local culture-based e-books are quite effective in supporting contextual learning while simultaneously enhancing students' creativity and cultural literacy in elementary school learning environments in an optimal, sustainable manner.

Abstract

This study analyzes the integration of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) values through the Environmental Care and Culture Movement in Schools (PBLHS) to strengthen environmental care character at MIN 4 Demak. The issue is important because schools should not merely promote cleanliness habits, but should connect environmental awareness with ecological sustainability, social responsibility, and prudent resource use. The research employed a qualitative case study approach. Data were collected through interviews, observation, documentation, and analysis of the school profile, the four-year PBLHS plan, monitoring and evaluation reports, and interview guidelines. The findings show that ESD values were integrated through written planning, daily habituation, environmental learning integration, teacher role modelling, and periodic evaluation based on behavioral change and physical environmental conditions. Core activities included waste sorting, 3R practices, water and energy conservation, greening programs, seedling cultivation, tree planting, biopore development, and campaigns to reduce plastic waste. The study indicates that PBLHS not only cultivates cleanliness habits but also develops responsibility, discipline, cooperation, and sustainability awareness among students. Therefore, integrating ESD values through PBLHS has proven effective in strengthening environmental care character contextually and sustainably

Abstract

Formative assessment is positioned as a core component of learner-centred instruction in the Merdeka Curriculum, however, its implementation in elementary schools/madrasah ibtidaiyah (SD/MI) remains constrained. This study analyzes the implementation of formative assessment based on Black & Wiliam (2009) framework, with a focus on the enabling and contraining factors shaping its practice in SD/MI. A qualitative approach with a collective case study design was employed across five schools implementing the Merdeka Curriculum. Data were generated through non-participant observation, semi-structured interviews, and document analysis and analyzed thematically across cases. The findings show that formative assessment practices are enabled by teachers’ assessment experience and literacy, principals’ academic supervision, student engagement, and the availability of supportive curriculum resources. Conversely, implementation remains limited by restricted instructional time, large class sizes, the dominance of summative assessment, and weak mastery of reflective assessment strategies, particularly self-assessment. These findings suggest that formative assessment in SD/MI remains developmental in nature and tends to operate more as assessment for learning than as assessment as learning

Abstract

This study aims to develop and test the feasibility and effectiveness of the ARKANUH application, an augmented reality (AR)-based learning media on the story of Prophet Noah for second-grade elementary school students. This research employed the Design and Development (D&D) approach with the ADDIE development model, which includes the stages of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The research subjects were second-grade students of SDN Pataruman, Darmaraja District, Sumedang Regency. Data collection techniques included expert validation questionnaires, observation, pre-test, post-test, and interviews. The validation results from media experts reached a percentage of 86.5% (very good) and from material experts 84.2% (good), indicating that the application is feasible to use. The product trial showed an improvement in student understanding with an average N-Gain score of 0.6966 (69.66%), which falls into the moderately effective category with a moderate–high increase. Student and teacher responses were highly positive regarding the ease of use and appeal of the application. Thus, the ARKANUH application is proven effective in improving learning outcomes and providing an interactive, visual learning experience that supports the development of positive character in students. This study recommends the use of the ARKANUH application as an alternative learning media for Islamic Religious Education materials at the elementary school level.
