Abstract

Affixed vocabulary is very important in learning Arabic vocabulary. Studies on Arabic affixed vocabulary in Malaysia show a lack of research on the weak aspects of affixed vocabulary among students at the pre-university level. Therefore, this study was conducted to identify the level of mastery of affixed vocabulary and the problematic vocabulary types for students to master. This quantitative study uses a survey method by distributing affixed vocabulary tests to collect data based on the research objectives. The sample consisted of 144 STPM students following the pre-university program at the Selangor State Islamic Religious Schools. Stratified random sampling was used for sample selection. The findings show that the mastery level of Arabic-affixed vocabulary among STPM students at Selangor State Islamic Religious Schools could be better. The final result revealed that the aspect of complex affixed vocabulary to mastery is sahih mahmuz al-ayn, mu’tal ajwaf, mu’tal naqis, mu’tal lafif mafruq dan mu’tal lafif maqrun. This result shows that the functions of the derivational system are essential skills for mastering the types of affixed words in Arabic. Hence, teachers, lecturers, and practitioners involved in Arabic language learning are suggested to use the skill to enhance students' vocabulary mastery.

Abstract

The tahfiz program in universities is one of the initiatives that help students sustain their Quranic memorization. Alternatively, the program's establishment aims to preserve the consistency of Quranic memorization amongst students currently pursuing professional studies at the tertiary level. Therefore, this research aims to analyze the contributing factors to time constraints that prevent effective outcomes of this particular program. This study is qualitative and depends much on in-depth interviews and document analysis techniques. The results of the study show that there are a relative number of challenges encountered by students that require consideration by all relevant parties, including academic workload, time restrictions, and the extracurricular activities organized by the faculties and colleges. This suggests that remarkable attention is necessary from appropriate parties to ensure the program's effectiveness and produce professional huffaz in the future. Insufficient focus on time management by the proper parties may adversely affect students' ability to implement the technique proposed by Muslim scholars for comprehending the verses of the Qur'an, which involves attaining proficiency in the Arabic language and its associated fields of knowledge.

Abstract

Guessing word meanings is vital for acquiring deep reading and adequate text comprehension, as the study implies that the cross-sectional approach quantitatively assesses the effect of guessing meaning strategies on Chinese university Arabic students' reading performance. There was significant evidence of the perfect relationship between the mastery of the guessing meaning strategy and the improvement of reading comprehension scores presented through the analysis of Chinese universities' data (r = 0.306, p < 0.01). It shows the vital importance of these approaches in raising reading skills. Students are well-positioned to carry out word investigation in terms of the etymology or roots of words, whether they are antonyms, synonyms, or synonymous phrases that help them deduce the meanings of words they are not familiar with and find out the meanings or explanations systematically in their reading. Guessing meaning strategies should be used in the Arabic language teaching curriculum in China to ensure that Arabic instructors can make learning enjoyable, thus value learning and acquiring language competencies. Additionally, different language contexts should be examined by future research to know the educational benefits and implications of these strategies.

This research aims to explain the problem-based learning model in the Department of Arabic Language and Literature, Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah State Islamic University, Tulungagung, Indonesia. The research method used is a qualitative approach, especially phenomenology. Data collection techniques include observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis includes data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. Apart from that, literature data analysis uses descriptive analysis and content analysis. This research will focus on discussions related to the role of lecturers as planners, implementers, and evaluators in the application of problem-based learning models based on image media in mastering vocabulary and speaking skills. The research results show that the problem-based learning model used in "kalam" learning is based on visual media and is oriented toward solving problems related to the images presented. The results of this research are the planning stage, which is achieved through discussions between assigned lecturers via invitation in the WhatsApp group, followed by the implementation steps. Stage I involves student orientation on specific problems. In Phase II, students are organized to learn. Stage III sees the lecturer guiding the investigation. Stage IV involves students developing and presenting their work. Finally, in Stage V, the problem-solving process is analyzed and evaluated. The evaluation process occurs when students carry out group discussions and play roles. The assessment includes linguistic and non-linguistic aspects. Abstract

Learning Arabic requires a practical approach and theory to ensure the desired results. This research explores the theory presented by Ibn Khaldun, "Linguistic faculty theory," which integrates the Arabic language into the learner's core until it becomes second nature. This paper used qualitative research methods to collect and analyze data by reviewing the literature on the subject, such as magazines, books, and others. The results revealed that the entire theory can be summarized into three main stages: input, storage, and output. The process begins with listening to Arabic, followed by memorization and practice. Ibn Khaldun based his theory on the belief that language serves the primary purpose of communication. By following the stages correctly, learners can ensure that the received language is as sound and pure as the language being expressed. The study calls for the widespread adoption of this theory across educational institutions through reforming curricula and teaching methodologies and enhancing extracurricular activities and educational facilities. The integration of a strong, pure, and solid Arabic language culture should also be considered when designing the Arabic language program, in addition to providing opportunities and an environment to practice it.
