Abstract

Arabic is the mother tongue of Saudi students. The current research project aims to investigate the extent to which the learning strategies utilized by PSAU students effectively enhance their writing skills and modify their attitudes toward writing. In the present study, the methodology used has been qualitative and quantitative, which is a mixed approach. The reason behind using a mixed approach is that this study aimed to collect qualitative and quantitative data concerning the learners’ writing strategies during writing classes. The research uses observation, questionnaires, and interviews to collect the data. For the study, around 250 students will be selected from the writing courses of various PSAU colleges. The effectiveness of the students’ strategies used in learning employed by the students of PSAU for promoting writing skills and changing passive attitudes towards writing is expected to reveal the role and usefulness of improving writing skills as a result of using students’ strategies.

Abstract

Religious moderation, believed to be the solution to radicalism in Indonesia, has a real obstacle in terms of a tendency to use English language references. Meanwhile, they are considered to be full of liberalization and pro-Western politics. This research examined the insertion of religious moderation through Arabic language references. It aimed to offer religious moderation with more comprehensive Arabic religious references on religious materials. The research was qualitative and used a case study method. The subjects were nine lecturers and seven students from the Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training, UIN Malang, who were selected purposively. The research found that religious moderation was inserted into the religious material through CLO, teaching materials with original Arabic texts, and the learning process. The three insertion models were chosen to follow instructions from university leaders, introduce the terminology of religious moderation from Arabic and non-Arabic language references, and ground religious moderation among students. Besides, using original Arabic text references is quite effective and grows students' confidence. This research suggested that when inserting religious moderation, especially at PTKI, we should include Arabic references because it has been proven to increase students' confidence effectively.

Abstract

The development of an online mobile application designed with semantic mapping flow for vocabulary learning in the context of Arabic for Specific Purposes (ASP) is accessible anytime and anywhere. It facilitates searching and learning vocabulary terms related to research methods for students majoring in Arabic Language Education (PBA) writing their theses. This research falls under the Research & Development (R&D) model, specifically the ADDIE model. Data analysis techniques involve descriptive statistical analysis. This study aims to develop an online mobile application for learning research method vocabulary in the context of ASP in higher education. The results indicate that assessments from media and content experts regarding the online mobile application received an average score of 4.54. This score suggests that the mobile application with semantic mapping flow is a suitable and effective tool for learning vocabulary in the context of ASP, despite minor revisions based on expert feedback. Feedback from 22 PBA students using the application after conducting an effectiveness test using the N-Gain test revealed that 86% of students considered the product very effective. In contrast, the remaining 14% categorized it as less effective. This is supported by an average pre-test score of 74.4 and an average post-test score of 96.8, resulting in an N-Gain value of 86%, indicating a high level of effectiveness for the developed product.

Abstract

This research, of significant importance, aims to investigate the prevailing themes and research methods employed in master's theses in Arabic Language Education in Indonesia from 2011 to 2021. The study also seeks to identify the factors influencing the selection of specific themes and methods. A descriptive qualitative approach is utilized, with the researcher acting as the main instrument for mapping based on a predetermined grid. The primary data for this study consists of 1083 archived theses from Master of Arabic Language Education students at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang, and UIN Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah Tulungagung, accessible through the e-repositories of each university. The findings, of great significance, indicate that the predominant theme in these master's theses is the study of Arabic teaching materials, accounting for 308 titles or 28.44% of the total. The second central theme is learning design research, with 143 titles (13.20%), followed by Arabic teaching methods with 85 titles (7.85%). Regarding research methods, the research and development (R&D) method dominates the master's theses in Arabic Education, comprising 379 titles (35.05%). Descriptive methods rank second with 319 titles (29.48%), followed by case studies with 190 titles (17.56%). Less commonly used research methods include character studies, which have only six titles (0.55%), and survey methods with three titles (0.28%). The dominance of specific themes and research methods in Arabic education indicates a preference for practical field research with socio-educational relevance and intellectual-conceptual approaches. Most of the mentioned research is conducted at UIN Malang, which may be attributed to the program's orientation towards product-based research and its willingness to accept thesis titles based on students' capabilities, unlike other study programs.

Abstract

Ayat-ayat Al-Qur’an yang memuat makna majazi, yaitu Q.S. al-An’am/6:6., Q.S. al-Haqqah/69:13., Q.S. al-Isra’/17:45. Q.S. al-Rahman/55:27., Q.S. al-Baqarah/2:19., Q.S. al-Mu’min/13:11., Q.S. al-Nisa’/4:2., Q.S. Yusuf/12:36., Q.S. Ali ‘Imran/3:107., Q.S. Maryam/6:50., Q.S. al-Nisa’/4:54., Q.S. Ali ‘Imran/3:21.  AbstractHistorically, not all scholars accept the existence of the majazi meaning in the Koran. This has become a controversial matter among language scholars and interpreters with their respective pretexts. This study aims to reflect on linguistic issues regarding the meaning of majazi in the Koran by sub-discussing majaz terminology and its classification in Balaghah science, the pros and cons of the existence of majaz in the Koran, and examples of majazi sentences in the Koran. This research is included in the descriptive qualitative research whose design includes literature study because the data comes from various references both in the form of books and scientific articles. The data collection is done through documentation techniques, and the data analysis uses an interactive model through condensation of data both inductively and deductively based on research needs after the data is collected, data display, verification and drawing conclusions. The results of this study are that majaz in Arabic has been adapted into Indonesian with the adaptation of the sound of majas which both have figurative meanings. Regarding the classification of majaz in Balaghah, broadly speaking, it is divided into two, namely majaz 'aqliy and majaz lughawi, of these two types which display many different types of majaz, totaling 18 types based on their respective reviews. The issue of majaz or the meaning of majazi in the Koran has become controversial among three major streams of thought, namely: Mutazilah stream that is pro to the meaning of majazi, Zahiriyah stream that is contra, and Asyariyah stream that is moderate. The verses of the Qur'an that contain majazi meaning, namely Q.S. al-An'am/6:6., Q.S. al-Haqqah/69:13., Q.S. al-Isra'/17:45. Abstract

Many religious-based schools and universities in Indonesia have widely implemented Arabic language textbooks as a learning material. However, Arabic is often considered challenging to learn due to its distinct linguistic origin from the Indonesian language. Therefore, there is a need for effective methods to facilitate students in learning Arabic just as they learn Indonesian. Surprisingly, a covert approach to learning Indonesian is also applied to studying Arabic. There are influential Arabic language textbooks that teach Indonesian grammar implicitly. This research aims to analyze the presence of curriculum of Indonesian language literacy in Arabic language textbooks, mainly for grades VII, VIII, and IX in Indonesian Islamic Junior High Schools (Madrasah Tsanawiyah or MTs). These textbooks were published by the Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia in 2020. The research method used is a qualitative descriptive approach, which involves content analysis of each chapter in these three books. The research findings reveal a significant amount of Indonesian language literacy content in Arabic textbooks. This content appears as explanations that serve as material clarification for students. Notably, the Indonesian language explanations account for 10% of the grade VII textbooks and 2% of the grade VIII and IX textbooks. Three forms of Indonesian language literacy content were successfully identified: language for comprehension introduction, comparison, and grammar contextualization.

Abstract

Makhraj or pronunciation is an essential element of Arabic phonetic rules in the Quranic reading. Studies on the articulateness of Arabic alphabet pronunciation of phonetic aspects due to the influence of native languages have been debated for decades. The Makhraj of Hijaiyyah is related to learning and reading the Quran, as the Quran itself is revealed in Arabic. Therefore, the consonant of Hijaiyyah's pronunciation must be mastered at the beginning of the Quranic study to produce a clear sound and precise meaning. This study aims to acquire a pattern of Hijaiyyah consonant designation in terms of the characteristics of the Malay tongue's articulation fluency, consonants, and phonetic nature for the basis of Quranic learning and teaching. The content analysis method developed a theme related to the pronunciation fluency of letters in three levels. The classification of letters is emphasized to guide teachers and other researchers in teaching the Arabic language and al-Quran education.

Abstract

This study aims to clarify the rhythmic values of Arabic poetry's ancient and modern meters as an essential tool in Arabic language teaching/learning. It seeks to enable the students to compare and contrast the Arabic rhythm in terms of 'Tafi'ila.' It is based on pursuing the facts of the connection and the separation between the deliberative prosodic studies' description of the nature of the rhythm that governs what is called the term 'Al-Tafi'ila poetry.' In addition, the path of verifying this rhythm in modern Arabic poetry is done through the systematic investment in Al-Khalil's theory to examine the rhythmic basis of Al-Tafi'ila poetry. It is found that this examination of the theory of traditional prosody allows us to remove the ambiguity about the claims of the radical modernization brought about by the "Al-Tafi'ila" system in the contemporary Arabic poem. It will also establish a comprehensive conception of the reliability of the term "Al-Tafi'ila poetry" in representing the rhythmic nature of the poems that belong to it.
