Abstract

Online learning needs to humanize the experience, especially in this day and age when technology is upending our lives and curriculum delivery methods are evolving quickly with new tools and applications. It is crucial, therefore, to humanize both our instruction and our students' learning at disruptive moments. This study aimed to investigate how Al-Madinah International University (MEDIU) undergraduate students experienced humanizing learning in a virtual learning environment. The researchers use a sequential mixed-method methodology to collect information to analyze the humanization of education in virtual learning environments. (320) undergraduate students from Al-Madinah International University participated in the quantitative portion of the study by answering both open-ended and closed-ended questionnaires. The qualitative data was analyzed using a thematic method, and the results were used to support the quantitative findings by creating themes using ATLASTI. The quantitative data was analyzed using descriptive statistics. According to the study's findings, 87% of respondents said that humanizing education in a virtual learning environment was successfully applied. At the same time, the remaining respondents were unsure. According to the qualitative data, most ODL instructors must attend training on using humanizing education in virtual learning environments. During the module compilation process, the participants suggested that ODL programs incorporate the cultural information students have learned at home and in their communities. Most respondents have an Arabic language background, so the curriculum needs to consider their culture. Students from Arabic and Islamic backgrounds, in particular, should have their culture at the center of lectures in the virtual learning environment, according to the institution.

Abstract

The ever-growing dynamics of education require the proper strategic steps in dealing with changing user trends and graduate job vacancies. The Master's Program in Arabic Language Education seeks to take proactive measures regarding the relevance of curricula to the requirements of the world of work. This study aims to conduct a tracer study for graduates and users to reveal the suitability of the work field for graduates with the jobs targeted in the curriculum document, the waiting period for work, and the skills used in the field of Arabic teaching, and to reveal the suitability of the Arabic teaching curriculum in the master's degree to meet the challenges of the world. It is because of the user-oriented business that continues to grow. This research relied on the qualitative descriptive approach. Primary data was collected from 2018-2020 alums and users. Distributed questionnaires, interviews, and group discussions implemented data collection techniques. The data analysis technique reduces data, presents data, and draws conclusions. Some results of this study are that the graduates' work is 82% suitable with the curriculum documents; 63% of alums become Arabic language teachers in schools and colleges, 19% become government employees, and 18% work freelance out of education and Arabic fields. Then, the average waiting period to work is less than six months. The skill that has a significant impact on graduate employment is technology-based teaching skills. Arabic handwriting skills, especially Khat, and Islamic studies skills are considered to have a minor effect. This study recommends modifying this curriculum toward a technology-based Arabic teaching concept. The use of digital media in every single course must be the primary principle to avoid losing out to Arabic YouTubers. This curriculum should also strengthen research methodology and publish articles and books.

Abstract

This paper investigates the wh-questions strategies in Najdi Arabic (NA), Upper Egyptian Arabic (UEA), and English (E) and aims to make a comparison between them. The method in this paper is qualitative; its data are derived from previous studies in the field of the syntax of wh-question of Arabic dialects, both argument and adjuncts. Both NA and UEA use the gap, class 2 gap strategy, resumptive and class 2 resumptive strategy, and in situ strategy. The result shows that Arabic dialects are more productive than English in question structures in both argument and adjuncts wh-questions. English does not use resumptive and resumptive class 2 strategies because no pronominal addition is attached to the main verb in the English questions structure.

Abstract

This study is concerned with analyzing the image of the other in literary texts where the people and cultures meet. This literary genre is considered one of the most critical areas of comparative literature studies in modern criticism. The study aims to prepare the students for comparative studies, one of the most essential domains that can benefit language learners. It enables the students to become familiar with and hold contrastive studies between Arabic as their mother tongue and the other languages and increase their linguistic proficiency. In addition, access to such studies or the experience of conducting them develops the learner's skills and abilities to understand, analyze, and track intellectual and reading coherence. Comparative literary studies have recently turned towards the novel to examine the image of nations and people in the writings of some of them in this literary genre. The narrative specificity of this genre is considered very important, as are people and cultures and the multiplicity of relationships of effect and influence among one another. From the importance of this standpoint comes the idea of this research, which seeks to Study the image of the Western Other in the novel "Albadawi Alsaqeer" (The Young Bedouin) by the Saudi novelist Maqbool Al-Alawi. This is due to its heavy reliance in its structure on the "Western Other" in its various manifestations and dimensions. They consider it looked at this other with a neutral and balanced vision that differed from the prevailing fictional writings that dealt with the relationship between the East and the West.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the meaning of " Al-Fitnah " in the Qur'an based on a review of semantics and Arabic. The type of research used is library research with a descriptive approach. The scope of this research is in the form of 1) semantic concepts in the Qur'an. 2) the mention of the word "Al-Fitnah" in the Qur'an. 3) the meanings contained in the word "Al-Fitnah" in every mention in the Qur'an. Data collection is carried out by library analysis in the form of books, scientific research results, news, and others. The data results are then analyzed to be reduced and presented in words based on the findings in the library. From research, it was obtained that the majority of the thirty words "Al-Fitnah" contained in the Qur'an have different meanings. This is based on the context of the verse in which the word is mentioned, the form of the word, and the Asbab Al-Nuzul of the verses in which the word is mentioned. All this can be evidenced by the emergence of different interpretations of the word "Al-Fitnah" in the Qur'an and the widespread study of the words of the Qur'an in each era.

Abstract

Language serves as a crucial tool for human interaction. It transcends its basic structure of words, rules, and syntax, reflecting the complex subtleties of culture, history, and the social development of its users. Within the study of language, applied linguistics stands out as an essential discipline that delves deeper than theoretical discussions. It critically examines how language is utilized, its manifestations in various contexts, and its multifaceted applications in human communications across different fields. Central to this research is the exploration of applied linguistics's transformative influence on the grammar domain. This study emphasizes the Arabic letter 'و) 'Waw). Given its frequent occurrence and versatile role in texts, ranging from the esteemed Quran to classical Arabic literature and detailed grammatical discussions, the comprehensive and precise understanding of the letter 'و 'is paramount. Such understanding facilitates both rigorous textual analysis and profound comprehension of linguistic constructs within the Arabic language. This research adopts a comparative methodology to discern the depth of this influence. It juxtaposes the time-honored traditional grammatical approaches with contemporary perspectives offered by applied linguistics. Through this comparative lens, the study sets out to achieve two primary objectives: firstly, to identify how applied linguistics might present alternative or even more enriched interpretations of 'و 'distinct from classical views, and secondly, to elucidate the tangible implications of these interpretations in practical, real-world linguistic applications. In culmination, this rigorous investigation serves a dual purpose. It sheds light on the nuanced roles and interpretations of the Arabic letter, 'و ', and positions applied linguistics as a beacon guiding the future trajectory of grammatical studies. The research accentuates the indispensability of a symbiotic relationship between traditional grammar and modern applied linguistic techniques, advocating for their combined use in achieving a holistic and evolved understanding of the dynamic Arabic language system.

Abstract

Arabic grammar learning is challenging and complex for learners to understand. This research aims to investigate lecturers and students learning Arabic grammar with an active learning model. This research uses a qualitative research method with an investigative approach. The data was obtained through interviews with four lecturers (Nahwu and Sharaf course teachers) and four students. It was then categorized, interpreted, and analyzed. The results showed that Arabic grammar learning already uses an active learning model. This is evidenced by the following five aspects: the application of student-centered learning, the use of engaging learning media, the creation of a pleasant environment, the use of problem-solving-based learning, and teamwork/collaboration in learning. The results of this study have an excellent opportunity to be adopted in Arabic language learning by all Islamic universities around Indonesia, especially in learning Nahwu and Sharaf.

Abstract

This paper aims to present a theoretical approach to studying argumentative study, also known as modern rhetoric; the paper follows a limpid path, moving between the various definitions of argumentation using the descriptive-analytical method. Firstly, it differentiates the two types of argumentation: the logical and the linguistic. Then, it deals with the most well-known contextual definitions of argumentation in both Arabic and Western argumentative studies. Aristotle was the first to refer to the types of argumentation. Hence, the paper shows his endeavors in this respect. The article advances Arabic language and teaching by providing theoretical foundations, pedagogical insights, cross-cultural understanding, historical context, methodological applications, relevance to modern scholarship, and validating Arabic rhetorical traditions. This study aims to give a brief and easy idea of Aristotle's efforts in the field of argumentation, especially the logical arguments and the subjective moral arguments, and the functions of these moral arguments of benefit, influence, and enjoyment, whether they relate to the orator (Aetos), the audience (Pathos), or the speech itself (Logos). Then, the research concluded with examples of these self-created arguments. The study results showed a comprehensive concept of the arguments in Arab and Western thoughts. Moreover, the researchers proved that Aristotle's topics and thoughts were one of the most significant sources of nourishment for the modern argumentative lesson; Arabic rhetoric did not lag behind the Western lesson in its care for argumentations and its methods of analysis, and they demonstrated the applicability of the mentioned concepts in the study.
