Abstract

Most of the Arabic language teaching institutions face difficulties in getting students to speak Arabic with them. However, there is an institution that is classified as successful in teaching speaking skills to its students. This study aims to describe the strategies used by the Ar-Rayah College of Languages (STIBA) in Sukabumi in teaching spoken Arabic to students and their impact on the development of speaking skills. This research uses a qualitative approach with a type of case study. The results of this study indicate that there is a set of strategies that contribute to the achievement of the Arabic language learning process at STIBA Ar-Rayah, including the appropriate Arabic language teaching curriculum, student placement in dormitories, long study time, adequate extra activities, giving additional lessons for the less fortunate, and the existence of native speaking lecturers. The strategy used has an impact on the development of students' speaking skills, where they can speak Arabic fluently in about 6 months, students use Arabic fluently every day, and the Arabic language used is Standard Arabic. The conclusion of this study is that the success of learning Arabic for non-Arabic speakers is supported by the existence of an appropriate strategy in addition to the success in functioning other learning elements.

Abstract

Understanding the dynamics of acquiring Arabic speaking skills is crucial in the context of Islamic universities, where language proficiency is integral to academic success and personal development. This study aims to explore the process of acquiring Arabic speaking skills from Stephen Krashen's perspective at two undisclosed Islamic universities in Indonesia. Using a qualitative case study design, the research employs interviews with lecturers and students as the primary data collection technique. The analysis is conducted descriptively, involving stages of data collection, reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that Arabic speaking skills are acquired through two main approaches. Within the classroom, intensive learning is facilitated through a direct method emphasizing language practice, supported by a curriculum focused on daily themes and language reinforcement programs. Outside the classroom, students engage in active communication in Arabic in various environments, such as dormitories, mosques, and cafeterias, while participating in activities that support language acquisition. These factors, combined with student motivation and a conducive learning environment, significantly contribute to the acquisition of Arabic speaking skills. The study concludes that the different learning approaches at the two universities effectively enhance students' Arabic speaking proficiency. Key factors contributing to successful language learning include the presence of Arabic language environments, appropriate curricula, active learning methods, individual motivation, and practical experiences outside the classroom, such as internships or student exchange programs. The research suggests that educators and students should focus on creating immersive language environments and incorporating practical experiences to maximize language acquisition.

Abstract

This study investigates theological approaches within Islamic Studies, recognizing their dynamic and evolving nature. The research aims to: identify the predominant paradigms of theological inquiry within the field; analyze the internal and external factors influencing the emergence and development of these approaches; and assess the implications of these approaches for Islamic thought and practice. Employing a descriptive qualitative methodology and a literature review approach, the study reveals three primary theological paradigms: historical, normative, and dialogical. Internal factors, such as belief systems, commitment levels, and scholarly loyalties, significantly shape these approaches. External factors, including language, cultural contexts, and diverse sources of knowledge, further contribute to their diversity. The findings suggest that theological approaches in Islamic Studies can positively impact belief systems, foster religious tolerance, and encourage critical, dialectical thinking. However, limitations in the scope of this study necessitate further in-depth research to fully comprehend the multifaceted nature of theological approaches within Islamic Studies.

Abstract

Learning Arabic writing skills still faces many problems. Because this skill is the most difficult Arabic language skill compared to the other three Arabic language skills, in learning activities, an effective and efficient learning approach is needed to make students proficient in Arabic writing skills. This approach is the PBL Approach. An approach that emphasizes a problem as a learning trigger and students are asked to find solutions. So this research aims to reveal the application of PBL in learning Arabic writing skills at IAI Al-Qodiri Jember. The Arabic writing skill in question is writing opinions in Arabic and applying problem-based learning in learning Arabic opinion writing skills in the fifth-semester Arabic language education program. The approach used in this research is qualitative, with a case study type. Data collection techniques use observation, interviews, and documentation. The data analysis technique uses the Miles and Huberman analysis model which includes data presentation, reduction, and verification. The data validity technique used in this research is source triangulation, by comparing data obtained from field research and primary sources (library). The results of the research show that the application of PBL in learning Arabic opinion writing skills runs effectively and efficiently in both the learning and evaluation processes. Apart from that, the application of PBL can improve students' critical thinking skills in the form of the ability to analyze, evaluate, and create. This article can be used as a reference for educators in implementing PBL in learning Arabic writing skills at the tertiary level. Copyright: © 20xx by the author(s).
