Abstract

This study aims at finding out the relationship between personality traits and Arabic Language Learning Strategies (LLS) for the Dayakese learners of Islamic Senior High School Tumbang Samba, Central Kalimantan, Indonesia.  Eighty one students   were asked to participate in this study. The instruments used were the Big Five Personality Inventory (BFI) proposed by John (1990) and   the Strategy Inventory for Language Learning (SILL) proposed by Oxford (1990). In analysing data, arithmetic mean, standard deviation and correlation coefficient of Pearson were used. The findings can be explained as follows. 1) The agreeableness and conscientiousness traits of Dayakese learners were at moderate levels, and the extroversion, neuroticism and   openness to experience traits of them were at high levels. The most preferred personality trait was openness to experience. 2) The language learning strategies used by students on the six strategies were at different levels. The cognitive, compensation, affective and social strategies were at low levels. The memory and metacognitive strategies were at moderate levels. The most popularly strategy used was metacognitive strategies and the least strategy used was cognitive strategies. 3)  Although there is not a statistically significant correlation between Dayakese learners ‘personality and Arabic language learning strategies generally, the significant correlations were found between neuroticism trait and memory, metacognitive, and social strategies; and between openness to experience trait and cognitive, compensation, metacognitive, affective and social strategies specifically.

Abstract

This research and development aimed at producing an Arabic conversation textbook for students at Arabic Intensive Program (PKPBA) UIN Malang to help their learning process becomes more accessible and funnier based on the communicative-interactive approach and reveals its viability. The method of this research was research and development (RD), which was proposed by Dick and Carey. The design of the product trial went through the expert validation, linguist and instructional design expert. The data were analyzed as quantitative and qualitatively. The results of this research indicated that the Arabic conversation textbook for PKPBA students has been developed in accordance with procedures and the themes determination were based on the need analysis so that it becomes a real and meaningful theme for student's life and activities, including: introduction, conversation around campus (faculty, study program, administration, classroom, library, sport center, canteen, parking lot, mosque, dormitory/ma'had), shopping activity, being in the hospital, and tourism place. The trial results of the material components of the conversation showed that: the content experts rated the product development as very good and feasible, while the instructional design experts assessed that most parts of the teaching material are very reasonable. Also, individual trial subjects considered that most components of the learning material are excellent. The Arabic lecturers discussed most of the textbook components are very feasible, and the issues of field trials also rated them very well.

Abstract

يهدف هذا البحث إلى: معرفة موقف شوقى ضيف من ثورة ابن مضاء على أصول النحو. وتحليل أسس تجديد النحو عند شوقي ضيف في ضوء نظرية النحو التعليمي. إن مدخل البحث المستخدم  في هذا البحث هو المدخل الكيفي الوصفي، ومصدره هو كتب النحو والمجلات التي كتبها شوقي ضيف، والكتب والمجلات والبحوث العلمية المتعلقة به. وطريقة جمع البيانات المستخدمة فيه هي دراسة الوثائق، وفي تحليل البيانات استخدمت نظرية ميليس وحبورمان التي تشتمل على أربعة عناصر وهي جمع البيانات، واختيار البيانات المناسبة، وعرض البيانات والخلاصة. ونتيجة هذا البحث:  اتفق شوقى ضيف على ثورة ابن مضاء على أصول النحو  ويتأثر كثيرا  بنظرية ابن مضاء. وأما نظرية ابن مضاء فهي:  إلغاء نظرية العامل، وإلغاء العلل الثواني والثوالث، وإلغـاء القياس، وإلغاء التمارين غير العملية. الاستنتاج النظري لهذا البحث هو أن تبسيط قواعد اللغة العربية في المجال التعليمي يسهل على الطلبة إتقان النحو التطبيقي.الكلمات المفتاحية: المحاولات التجديدية، التيسير، النحو التعليمي.ABSTRACTThis research is aimed to know Syauqi Dhaif's views on Ibn Madha's revolution against ushul al-nahw and to analyze the renewal of Syauqi Dhaif's nahw in the perspective of pedagogic nahw theory. The approach used in this research is descriptive qualitative. The data sources are books written by Syauqi Dhaif, articles and relevant scientific researches. The data collection technique is a documentation study. Data were analyzed using Miles and Huberman's theory which include: Collecting data, selecting relevant data, presenting data and concluding. The results of this study are: Syauqi Dhaif agreed with Ibn Madha's revolution against ushul nahw and he was deeply influenced by Ibn Madha's theory. As for Ibn Madha's theory, such as: negating the âmil theory, negating the second and third illats, negating qiyâs and eliminating cumbersome exercises. The theoretical finding of this research is that pedagogically simplification of Arabic language rules makes it easier for students to master applicable nahwu.Key words: Reform Efforts; Simplify; Nahw PedagogicalABSTRAK Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui pandangan Syauqi Dhaif tentang revolusi Ibn Madh terhadap ushul al-nahw. Penelitian ini menganalisis pembaruan nahw Syauqi Dhaif dalam perspektif teori nahw pedagogik. Pendekatan yang digunakan adalah kualitatif deskriptif. Sumber data adalah buku-buku yang ditulis oleh Syauqi Dhaif dan artikel-artikel serta penelitian-penelitian ilmiah yang relevan. Teknik pengumpulan data adalah studi dokumentasi. Data dianalisis dengan menggunakan teori Miles dan Huberman yang meliputi: Mengumpulkan data, memilih data yang relevan, memaparkan data dan menyimpulkan. Hasil penelitian ini adalah: Syauqi Dhaif sepakat dengan revolusi Ibn Madha terhadap ushul nahw dan ia sangat terpengaruh terhadap teori Ibn Madha. Adapaun teori Ibn Madha adalah: meniadakan teori âmil, meniadakan illat kedua dan ketiga, meniadakan qiyâs dan meniadakan latihan yang tidak praktis. Temuan teoritis penelitian ini adalah secara pedagogis simflikasi kaidah bahasa Arab  memudahkan mahasiswa menguasai nahwu aplikatif.

Abstract

The frequent changes in government policies regarding higher education curricula pose a problem for many universities. One recent policy that has caused issues is the "MBKM" curriculum, which also influences State Islamic Religious Colleges. This study aims to reveal how the Arabic Language Teaching Department of UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang developed a semi-parallel structure by combining parallel and serial structures. A case study approach was employed, with the Arabic language teaching department of UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang as the main research subject. Data was collected through interviews and documentation. The data analysis consisted of three stages: data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings revealed that the semi-parallel curriculum structure implemented by the Arabic language teaching department fulfills two curriculum standards. Firstly, it meets the demand for curriculum standardization based on the Indonesian National Qualifications Framework (KKNI) outlined in Higher Education Regulation No. 44, 2015. Secondly, the semi-parallel curriculum structure corresponds to the curriculum standards set forth by the Indonesian Arabic Teachers Association (IMLA) in 2019. So, the development of a semi-parallel curriculum structure for the Arabic Language Teaching department has proven to be following national standards, even though policies often change.

Abstract

Language learners often bring their personal philosophy into foreign language learning. Beliefs about language learning might support to selecting the ways of learning in foreign language. This study aims at finding out the correlation between Dayakese students’ beliefs about language learning and their learning strategies in Arabic as a foreign language at Central Borneo, Indonesia. Sixty-one students were asked to participate in this study. The instruments used were Beliefs about Language Learning (BALLI) proposed by Horwitz (1988) and Strategy Inventory for Language Learning (SILL) proposed by Oxford (1990). In analyzing data, arithmetic mean, standard deviation and correlation coefficient of Pearson product moment were used. The findings can be explained as follows. 1) The aptitude, learning difficulty, and communication and learning strategies dimensions were at medium level, while nature of language learning and motivation & expectation dimensions were at high level. Generally, Dayakese students’ beliefs about Arabic language learning were at medium level; 2) The popular strategies used by Dayakese students were metacognitive and affective strategies; 3) The significant correlations were found between Dayakese students’ beliefs about language learning and their Learning Strategies in Arabic as a foreign language with coefficient correlation 0.431.

Abstract

The curriculum of a study program needs to be reviewed and evaluated at least once every two years so that it can be adapted to current needs and developments. Since technology and information develop very quickly, various aspects of life also develop, including education and educational curricula. Society 5.0 is all about technology, the development of the infrastructure, and skills that must be developed to utilize the technology with the aim of solving problems and the behaviors toward technology in solving problems.  Therefore, the curriculum of a study program must be adapted to the demands of society 5.0.  The MBKM (Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka) curriculum as a curriculum that supports society 5.0 requires today’s students and lecturers to get out of their comfort zone by having additional skills in dealing with academic problems etc. For this reason, the Arabic Education program of Bukittinggi Islamic State University (UIN Bukittinggi) is obligated to redevelop and to review the existing curriculum that relevant with the developments and demands of the present days society.

Abstract

Secara historis, tidak semua ulama menerima keberadaan makna majazi dalam al-Quran. Hal tersebut menjadi suatu hal kontroversial dikalangan para ulama bahasa dan mufassir dengan dalih masing-masing. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk merefleksikan persoalan linguistik terhadap makna majazi dalam al-Qurán dengan sub bahasan terminologi majaz dan klasifikasinya dalam ilmu Balaghah, pro-kontra eksistensi majaz dalam al-Quran, dan contoh kalimat majazi dalam al-Quran. Penelitian ini termasuk dalam penelitian deskriptif kualitatif yang desainnya termasuk studi pustaka sebab data-datanya berasal dari berbagai referensi pustaka baik berbentuk buku maupun artikel ilmiah. Pengumpulan datanya dilakukan lewat teknik dokumentasi, dan analisis datanya menggunakan model interaktif lewat kondensasi data baik secara induktif maupun deduktif berdasarkan kebutuhan penelitian setelah data dikumpulkan, penyajian data, verifikasi dan penarikan kesimpulan. Adapun hasil penelitian ini adalah majaz dalam bahasa Arab sudah teradaptasi ke dalam bahasa Indonesai dengan adaptasi bunyi majas yang sama-sama bermakna kiasan. Terkait klasifikasi majaz dalam ilmu Balaghah secara garis besar terbagi dua yaitu majaz ‘aqliy dan majaz lughawi, dari dua jenis inilah yang melahirkan banyak ragam jenis majaz yang secara keseluruhan berjumlah 18 macam berdasarkan tinjauannya masing-masing. Persoalan majaz atau makna majazi dalam al-Quran menjadi kontroversial di kalangan tiga aliran besar, yaitu: aliran Muktazilah yang pro, aliran Zahiriyah yang kontra, dan aliran Asyariyah yang moderat. Ayat-ayat Al-Qur’an yang memuat makna majazi, yaitu Q.S. al-An’am/6:6., Q.S. al-Haqqah/69:13., Q.S. al-Isra’/17:45. Q.S. al-Rahman/55:27., Q.S. al-Baqarah/2:19., Q.S. al-Mu’min/13:11., Q.S. al-Nisa’/4:2., Q.S. Yusuf/12:36., Q.S. Ali ‘Imran/3:107., Q.S. Maryam/6:50., Q.S. al-Nisa’/4:54., Q.S. Ali ‘Imran/3:21.  AbstractHistorically, not all scholars accept the existence of the majazi meaning in the Koran. This has become a controversial matter among language scholars and interpreters with their respective pretexts. This study aims to reflect on linguistic issues regarding the meaning of majazi in the Koran by sub-discussing majaz terminology and its classification in Balaghah science, the pros and cons of the existence of majaz in the Koran, and examples of majazi sentences in the Koran. This research is included in the descriptive qualitative research whose design includes literature study because the data comes from various references both in the form of books and scientific articles. The data collection is done through documentation techniques, and the data analysis uses an interactive model through condensation of data both inductively and deductively based on research needs after the data is collected, data display, verification and drawing conclusions. The results of this study are that majaz in Arabic has been adapted into Indonesian with the adaptation of the sound of majas which both have figurative meanings. Regarding the classification of majaz in Balaghah, broadly speaking, it is divided into two, namely majaz 'aqliy and majaz lughawi, of these two types which display many different types of majaz, totaling 18 types based on their respective reviews. The issue of majaz or the meaning of majazi in the Koran has become controversial among three major streams of thought, namely: Mutazilah stream that is pro to the meaning of majazi, Zahiriyah stream that is contra, and Asyariyah stream that is moderate. The verses of the Qur'an that contain majazi meaning, namely Q.S. al-An'am/6:6., Q.S. al-Haqqah/69:13., Q.S. al-Isra'/17:45. Ali 'Imran/3:21. مستخلص البحثتاريخيا، لا يقبل جميع العلماء وجود معنى المجاز في القرآن. لقد أصبح هذا موضوعا مثيرا للجدل بين علماء اللغة والمفسرين بحجج كل منهم. تهدف هذا البحث إلى التأمل في القضايا اللغوية المتعلقة بمعنى المجاز في القرآن من خلال مناقشة مصطلحات المجاز وتصنيفها في علم البلاغة، وإيجابيات وسلبيات وجود المجاز في القرآن، وأمثلة الجمل المجازية في القرآن. يعتبر هذا البحث بحثا نوعيا الوصفي الذي يتضمن تصميمه دراسة المكتبية لأن البيانات تأتي من مراجع مختلفة سواء في شكل كتب أو مقالات علمية. يتم جمع البيانات فيه من خلال تقنيات التوثيق، ويستخدم تحليل البيانات فيه نموذجا تفاعليا من خلال تكثيف البيانات استقرائيا أو استنتاجيا بناء على احتياجات البحث بعد جمع البيانات وعرض البيانات والتحقق والاستنتاج. ونتائج هذا البحث هي أن المجاز باللغة العربية قد تم تكييفها إلى اللغة الإندونيسية مع تكييف صوت "مجاس" التي لها معاني مجازية. بشكل عام، ينقسم المجاز في علم البلاغة إلى قسمين، وهما مجاز عقلي ومجاز لغاوي، من هذين النوعين اللذان ولدا العديد من أنواع المجاز المختلفة التي بلغ مجموعها 18 نوعا بناء على النظر إلى كل منهما. أصبحت قضية المجاز أو معنى المجاز في القرآن مثيرة للجدل بين ثلاث مدارس فكرية رئيسية، وهي: المدرسة المعتزلة التي تؤيد لمعنى المجازي في القرآن، والمدرسة الظاهرية التي لا تؤيد لمعنى المجازي فيه، والمدرسة الأشعارية التي تأتي متوسط بين رأيهما المعتزلة والظاهرية. والآيات القرآنية التي تحتوي على المعاني المجازية وهي في سورة الأنعام/6:6، سورة الحاقة/13:69، سورة الإسراء/17:45، سورة الرحمن/55: 27، سورة البقرة/2:19، سورة المؤمن/13:11، سورة النساء/4: 2، سورة يوسف/12:36، سورة آل عمران/3:107، سورة مريم/6:50، سورة النساء/4:54، سورة آل عمران/3:173، سورة النساء/4:103، سورة النمل/27:88، سورة الواقعة/56:2، سورة هود/11:43، سورة الإسراء/17:45، سورة إبراهيم/14:1، سورة طه/20:71، سورة البقرة/2:16، سورة الحاقة/69:11، سورة الأنعام/6:122،وسورة آل عمران/3:21.

Abstract

Teaching materials are very important in the process of learning Arabic; therefore, the teaching and learning process requires motivation to increase student language competence. With regard to the material taught in higher education, the urgency of constructivism theory has not yet fulfilled in the success of learning. As a result, the theory becomes a necessity for the development of teaching material to strengthen their interest in developing language competencies. This study intended to develop Arabic teaching materials for students in Islamic Religious Colleges so that they do not depend on books sourced from Arab countries that have different cultures than local cultures. Based on the results of the needs analysis, the textbook product was produced, which is named al-Arabia li al-Hayah along with inputs from experts. The results of this book trial showed that this book was effective to meet the needs of students in improving Arabic competence through mastery of vocabulary in their environment.

Abstract

The identification of conceptual metaphors of gender issues in the national media using corpus linguistic analysis has constructed a discourse based on the correlation between experience and linguistic feature phenomena. This research identifies and reveals three conceptual metaphors based on word frequency, collocation, and concordance. A combined method with an explanatory sequential design was used by collecting Koran Sindo news in 2022–2023 that represented gender issues; there were 210 news articles with 71,920 words. Data collection techniques are documentation, listening, and note-taking using data analysis in AntConc and interactive models. The results of this study are as follows: first, the highest frequency of words is significantly found in the words 'korban' and 'perempuan.' Secondly, collocations have a contradictory tendency to present gender issues. Third, concordance produces identifying forms of conceptual metaphors, such as: a) 4 structural metaphors, conceptually meaning sexual coercion, rape, provider power, and necessity; b) 2 orientational metaphors have conceptual meanings, such as urgency and period; c) 3 ontological metaphors with conceptual meanings include deterioration, qualification, and capacity. This research contributes to exploring cognitive semantic prosody through the phenomenon of lexical and linguistic features.

Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the contribution and role of Language Centers in actualizing World-Class University within the State Islamic Higher Education (PTKIN). This research was a case study using qualitative approach. The subjects were two Language Centers located at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta and UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang. In collecting data, researchers conducted interviews and documentation. The data collected were analyzed through data reduction, presentation, and conclusion. The results showed that the contribution and role of the Language Centers were very significant in supporting the actualization of World-Class University. Both Language Centers have contributed to a) improve/increase foreign language skills, b) detect language skills, c) archive important translated documents, and d) organizing language-related training or workshops. They had a role in building a global university brand through international cooperation, seminars or conferences, and sending lecturers to Al-Azhar University in Egypt to introduce the Indonesian language and culture. Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kontribusi dan peran Pusat Pengembangan Bahasa dalam mewujudkan World Class University di lingkungan PTKIN. Penelitian ini merupakan studi kasus dengan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif. Ada dua Pusat Bahasa yang menjadi subjek penelitian yaitu yang berlokasi di UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta dan Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang. Dalam pengumpulan data, peneliti melakukan wawancara dan dokumentasi. Data yang terkumpul dianalisis dengan cara reduksi data, sajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kontribusi dan peran Pusat Pengembangan Bahasa sangat signifikan dalam mendukung terwujudnya WCU. Kedua Pusat Bahasa telah memberikan kontribusi dalam: a) peningkatan kemampuan berbahasa asing, b) mendeteksi kemampuan berbahasa, c) mendokumentasikan dokumen-dokumen terjemahan penting, dan d) menyelenggarakan pelatihan atau workshop terkait bahasa. Sedangkan peran keduanya di antaranya membangun global brand universitas melalui kerja sama internasional, seminar atau konferensi, dan pengiriman dosen ke Universitas Al-Azhar di Mesir untuk memperkenalkan bahasa dan budaya Indonesia.
