Pendas : Jurnah Ilmiah Pendidikan Dasar is a journal published twice a year, namely in June and December that aims to be a forum for scientific publications to pour ideas and studies complemented with the results of research related to primary school education. To achieve this, basic education journals will selectively disseminate ideas and studies complemented by quality research results related to basic education, develop an education center to the elementary-school that can produce innovative, creative and original work and tested in the field of education and learning elementary School to be disseminated and implemented for improving the quality of primary-to-national education at the national, regional and international levels.

This research is motivated by the low Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) in learning science in class IV UPT SDN 017 Langgini. One solution to overcome this problem is to use the problem solving model. This study aims to improve Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) using the problem solving model in class IV UPT SDN 017 Langgini students. This research method is classroom action research (PTK) which is carried out in two cycles consisting of two meetings and four stages, namely planning implementation, observation, and reflection. The time of this research was carried out in may dan july 2024. The subjects of this research were students of class IV UPT SDN 017 Langgini. Consists of 12 students, there are 4 male students and 8 female students. Methods of data collection using observation techniques and documentation techniques. The result of the study show that using the problem solving learning model can improve students Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS). This is shown by the acquisition of observation in the first cycle of the second meeting of 12 students, it is known that the Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) of students included in the complete category reach 4 people or 34% and in the first cycle of the second meeting there are 5 people 42%. Then in cycle II meeting I there were 7 people or 59% who experienced completeness and in cycle II meeting II it increased to 10 people or 84. Through the applivation of problem solving models in improving the Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) of class IV UPT SDN 017 Langgini students.

The background of this study is the low critical thinking of mathematics students in grade 4. This study aims to improve the critical thinking skills of grade 4 students of SDN 002 Pasir Sialang. This research is a classroom action research (PTK), which was carried out in two cycles and each cycle consisted of two meetings. The subjects in this study were all grade 4 students totaling 18 students. Data collection techniques in the form of interview techniques, observation, documentation and tests. While the data analysis technique used is a combination of qualitative data and quantitative data. Based on the results of research that has been carried out through 2 cycles, at meeting 1 of cycle I, there were 9 students who were complete with a percentage of 50% with an overall average of 69 and at meeting 2 it rose to 11 students with a percentage of 62% with an overall average of 77.83. Whereas in cycle II, meeting 1, there were 13 students who were complete with a percentage of 72% with an overall average of 80.05 and an increase at meeting 2 to 15 students with a percentage of 84% with an overall average of 84.55. Based on the results of this study, it shows that by applying the STEM approach, it can improve the critical thinking ability of mathematics class 4 students of SDN 002 Pasir Sialang.

This research was motivated by the low ability to solve mathematical problems in class V students at SD Negeri 013 Kumantan with a total of 10 students, 3 female students and 7 male students. This research aims to improve problem solving abilities using the Missouri Mathematics Project (MMP) learning model based on local wisdom with material on fraction calculation operations in class V of SD Negeri 013 Kumantan, Kec. Bangkinang City for the 2024/2025 academic year. The research method used is classroom action research (PTK) which is carried out in 2 cycles consisting of two meetings each cycle, has 4 stages, namely planning, implementation, observation and reflection. Data collection techniques use test, observation and documentation techniques. The results of the research showed that in cycle 1 of meeting I, the average student's mathematical problem solving ability (54.2) was in the very low category with a classical completeness percentage of 40%. At meeting II, mathematical problem solving ability increased to (66.9) in the poor category with classical completeness of 60%, in cycle 2 of meeting I increased to average (73.5) in the sufficient category with classical completeness of 80%, then at meeting II in cycle 2 increased again to an average (82.8) in the good category with classical completeness of 80%. Based on the data obtained, it was concluded that by implementing the Missouri Mathematics Project (MMP) learning model, it could improve the mathematical problem solving abilities of fifth grade students at SD Negeri 013 Kumantan.

This research was motivated by the low civic knowledge of students in learning Pancasila education in class V UPT SDN 017 Laggini. One solution to overcome this problem is to use the Read, Answer, Discuss, Explain and Create (RADEC) learning model for class V students at UPT SDN 017 Laggini. This research method is Classroom Action Research (PTK) which is carried out in two cycles consisting of 2 meetings and four stages, namely planning, implementation, observation and reflection. When this research was carried out in July 2024. The subjects of this research were 12 class V students of UPT SDN 017 Laggini. Consists of 4 male students and 8 female students. Data collection methods use tests, observation and documentation. The results of this research can be concluded that students' civic knowledge abilities have increased in each cycle, where the percentage results in cycle I, meeting I (33%), meeting II increased to (42%), while in cycle II, meeting I (58%) and meeting II increased to (83%). Thus, it can be concluded that by implementing the Read, Answer, Discuss, Explain and Create (RADEC) learning model, it can increase civic knowledge in class V students at UPT SDN 017 Laggini.

This study examines the role of mathematics learning in developing students' critical thinking skills, focusing on the ethnomathematics approach. At SDN 007 Bangkinang and SDN 013 Tanjung Berulak, it was found that students tended to provide short and less in-depth answers in solving mathematical problems, indicating low critical thinking skills among the students. The method used was quasi-experimental, involving 40 fourth-grade students, 20 students from SDN 007 Bangkinang as the experimental class and, 20 students from SDN 013 Tanjung Berulak as the control class. The research instrument consisted of story problems with five questions, each containing four indicators of critical thinking skills. Data were analyzed using an independent samples t-test. The results showed that ethnomathematics learning had a significant effect on improving students' critical thinking skills, with a mean difference of -34.075 and a significance level of 0.000 (p < 0.05). The average score of students' critical thinking skills increased to 78.00. These findings support the importance of integrating culture into mathematics learning to effectively enhance students' critical thinking abilities.

Early mathematics is an important foundation in shaping the logical thinking skills of young children. This study examines the effect of the APE Geometry Robot media on the understanding of basic mathematical concepts such as shapes, sizes, and patterns in children aged 3–4 years at KB 'Aisyiyah 29 Surabaya. Through a fun play approach, activities such as matching and grouping help children understand mathematics naturally. This study examines the effect of using the Educational Teaching Aids (APE) Geometry Robot media on the development of early mathematics understanding in 3-4 year old children at KB 'Aisyiyah 29 Surabaya. This study used a quantitative method with a one-group pre-test and post-test pre-experimental design. Data collection techniques included observation and documentation, with assessment indicators covering five aspects of early mathematical ability. The research sample consisted of 31 children. The Wilcoxon statistical test was used to test the effectiveness of the treatment. The results showed a significant increase in children's mathematical abilities after the implementation of the Geometry Robot media, as indicated by the rejection of the null hypothesis (T count = 0 < T table = 8). Interactive and concrete learning media such as the Geometry Robot have been proven to increase children's cognitive engagement, help them understand basic mathematical concepts, and foster logical, critical, and creative thinking patterns from an early age.

Curiosity is an intrinsic drive that encourages individuals to acquire information and actively engage in the learning process. However, low levels of curiosity among students remain a persistent issue, characterized by limited initiative in asking questions and low participation in learning activities. This study aims to develop and examine the validity of a staple food civilization textbook based on Project Based Learning (PjBL) to foster students’ curiosity. The research employed a Research and Development (R&D) method using the ADDIE model and a quasi-experimental design. The research subjects consisted of ten certified teachers as needs analysis respondents, ten experts as feasibility evaluators, and fifth-grade students at a public elementary school in Yogyakarta, with class V A as the experimental group and class V B as the control group. The results showed that the developed textbook achieved a “very good” quality category with an average score of 3.81 on a 1–4 scale. The implementation of the textbook had a significant effect on students’ curiosity (p < 0.05) with an effect size of r = 0.81. The N-gain score of the experimental group was categorized as high (80.79), while that of the control group was categorized as low (14.70). Interrater reliability was classified as high (α = 0.756). Therefore, the developed Project Based Learning–based textbook is proven to be feasible, effective, and reliable as a learning medium and as a means to strengthen elementary students’ curiosity.

This study aims to analyze the influence of survival skill activities in Scout Scouts on strengthening the independent dimension in students of SDN Banjar Timur I. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach with additional quantitative analysis. The research design used was a case study with a sample of 30 students who actively participated in Scout Fundraising activities. Data were collected through questionnaires, interviews, observations, and documentation, then analyzed using descriptive statistics for quantitative data and thematic analysis for qualitative data. The results showed that there was a significant improvement in all indicators of self-sufficiency dimension after participating in survival skill activities. Before the activity, most of the students showed a low level of confidence, but after the activity, their confidence increased by 20%. Students' initiative, responsibility, and decision-making abilities have also experienced a significant increase. In addition, survival skills activities provide hands-on experience in facing challenges that increase a sense of responsibility and better decision-making in urgent situations. These findings indicate that Scouting activities, especially those related to survival skills, are effective in strengthening the independent dimension of elementary school students, which is in line with the goals of the Pancasila Student Profile.

Pembelajaran seni musik di tingkat menengah seringkali menghadapi tantangan dikotomi antara penguasaan teori musik yang bersifat kognitif dan keterampilan praktik instrumen yang bersifat psikomotorik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis efektivitas Project-Based Learning (PjBL) sebagai model pedagogis untuk menyeimbangkan kedua aspek tersebut. Metode yang digunakan adalah studi literatur sistematis (SLR) kualitatif dengan menelusuri artikel-artikel ilmiah dari basis data Google Scholar dalam rentang 10 tahun terakhir (2015–2025). Kriteria inklusi difokuskan pada studi kasus PjBL dalam pendidikan seni musik instrumen di Indonesia. Hasil utama menunjukkan bahwa PjBL efektif menjembatani dikotomi teori-praktik melalui tugas-tugas autentik seperti aransemen lagu dan pertunjukan kelas. PjBL secara konsisten meningkatkan pemahaman teori musik karena teori diintegrasikan sebagai alat untuk memecahkan masalah praktik, bukan sebagai tujuan akhir. Selain itu, PjBL terbukti meningkatkan motivasi, kreativitas, dan kemampuan kolaborasi siswa. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa PjBL adalah model esensial yang direkomendasikan untuk menciptakan pembelajaran seni musik yang holistik dan relevan dengan tuntutan Kurikulum Merdeka.

ABSTRACT This study aims to determine the effect of the Project-Based Learning (PjBL) model on students’ learning interest. The research was conducted in class XI A2 of UPT SMA Negeri 5 Bone, with a total sample of 35 students consisting of 14 male and 21 female students. The data analysis technique used was quantitative data with an ex-post facto research design and simple linear regression analysis technique. The results showed that the coefficient of determination (R Square) was 0.409, which means that the implementation of PjBL contributed 40.9% to the increase in students’ learning motivation, while 59.1% was influenced by other factors outside this study. The ANOVA test results showed an F value = 22.810 with a significance of 0.000 (<0.05), indicating that the regression model was feasible to use. Furthermore, the t-test showed that the calculated t value = 4.776 was greater than the t table value = 1.692 at a significance level of 0.05, thus the research hypothesis was accepted.
