Abstract

Understanding the concept of plane figures is an important basic competency in elementary school mathematics learning, but it is often difficult for students due to its abstract nature. This study aims to develop an Augmented Reality (AR)-based Wooden Tangram Puzzle learning media and test its feasibility, practicality, and effectiveness in improving the understanding of plane figures concepts for fourth-grade students. The study used the Research and Development (R&D) method with the ADDIE model. The subjects were 19 fourth-grade students of SDN 4 Ngawen. Data collection techniques included validation questionnaires from media experts and material experts, teacher and student response questionnaires, and pretest and posttest tests. Data were analyzed using quantitative descriptive analysis and t-test. The results showed that the media was declared very feasible by media experts (96%) and material experts (99%), very practical based on student responses (94.74%) and teachers (95%), and effective in improving the understanding of plane figures concepts with a t-test significance value of 0.016 <0.05. Thus, the AR-based Wooden Tangram Puzzle media is suitable for use as a mathematics learning medium in elementary schools.

Abstract

This study aims to examine in depth the management of the natural school curriculum in improving the quality of education at Sekolah Alam Darul Istiqamah (SADIQ) Maros, South Sulawesi. The focus of the research is directed at the process of planning, organizing, implementing, and evaluating nature-based curriculum that is integrated with the Independent Curriculum and Islamic values. This study uses a qualitative approach with a single case study strategy. Data were collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews with key informants (education directors, principals, teacher coordinators, and educators), and documentation studies. The validity of the data is guaranteed through the triangulation technique of sources and methods. Data analysis was carried out using the Miles and Huberman interactive model which included data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing and verification. The results of the study show that curriculum management at SADIQ Maros is carried out in a collaborative, participatory, and adaptive manner. Curriculum planning integrates the Independent Curriculum with the philosophy of nature-based education and Islamic values, so that the curriculum becomes contextual and relevant to the needs of students and the surrounding environment. The organization of the curriculum is supported by a flexible and non-hierarchical structure, with teachers as the main actors in learning and the environment as the main learning space. The implementation of the curriculum emphasizes experiential learning, learning by doing, and contextual projects that encourage active involvement of students as well as strengthening character and ecological awareness. Curriculum evaluation is carried out in a continuous and holistic manner, not only assessing academic achievements, but also the development of students' character, life skills, and environmental concerns through authentic assessments and collaborative reflection. This study concludes that nature-based curriculum management at SADIQ Maros is able to create a dynamic, meaningful, and holistic learning ecosystem for student development. These findings provide a conceptual and practical contribution as a model for managing the natural school curriculum that is integrated with national education policies and relevant to be applied in efforts to improve the quality of continuing education.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of transformational leadership and work culture on teacher performance, both directly and indirectly, through achievement motivation as a mediating variable at SMK Negeri 5 Kendal. The primary background of this research is the low results of national teacher performance evaluations and the fluctuation of teacher performance scores at the research site. The research method employed is a quantitative approach with inferential statistical analysis techniques. Data were collected through questionnaires that had been tested for validity and reliability. The population of this study consisted of teachers at SMK Negeri 5 Kendal. Data analysis was conducted using multiple linear regression and the Sobel Test to examine the mediation effect, assisted by SPSS software. The results of the study indicate that transformational leadership has a significant effect on teacher performance. Better implementation of transformational leadership by the school principal is followed by an increase in teacher performance. Work culture was also found to have a strong direct influence on the quality of teacher performance. However, the Sobel Test results showed that achievement motivation was not a significant mediating variable in the relationship between transformational leadership or work culture and teacher performance. This indicates that at SMK Negeri 5 Kendal, work environment factors and leadership styles provide a more dominant direct impact compared to individual internal motivational drives. This study recommends strengthening work culture and leadership as priority steps to effectively improve teacher performance.

Abstract

Insomnia is a common health problem among university students and has significant impacts on cognitive functioning, emotional regulation, and academic performance. The management of insomnia is still predominantly focused on pharmacological interventions, which may carry potential side effects; therefore, safe and easily applicable non-pharmacological alternatives are needed. This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of the SleepWell intervention based on lemongrass aromatherapy and a reflective sleep journal in reducing insomnia symptoms among university students. The study employed an experimental pretest–posttest control group design. A total of 10 students with poor sleep quality based on the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) were randomly assigned to an intervention group (n = 5) and a control group (n = 5). The intervention group received a lemongrass aromatherapy bracelet and completed a reflective sleep journal for 10 consecutive days, while the control group received no intervention. The results showed that the intervention group demonstrated a greater reduction in mean PSQI scores, decreasing from 12.6 to 8.4, whereas the control group exhibited only fluctuating changes from 15.2 to 13.6. Improvements in the intervention group were primarily observed in sleep latency, subjective sleep quality, sleep efficiency, and daytime dysfunction, although individual responses varied. These findings indicate that the SleepWell intervention has the potential to serve as a simple and applicable non-pharmacological approach to reducing insomnia symptoms among university students. Further studies with larger sample sizes and longer intervention durations are recommended to strengthen these findings.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze and describe the representation of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) values, encompassing the aspects of aqidah (creed), sharia (Islamic law), and akhlaq (morality), within the main processions of the Sekala Bekhak Festival in West Lampung Regency. The focus of the study is directed toward examining how local traditions such as Sekura, Gambus Orchestra, and Nyambai function as media for the internalization of religious values within the community. This research employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive-analytical method. Data were collected through participatory observation of festival processions, in-depth interviews with tourism office officials, traditional leaders, religious leaders, and community figures, as well as documentation studies. Data validity was ensured through source triangulation, while data analysis followed an interactive model consisting of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that the Sekala Bekhak Festival integrates aqidah values through symbols of the triumph of faith and devotional chants emphasizing monotheism. Sharia values are represented through adherence to modest dress codes in the Sekura performances and the regulation of social ethics (muamalah), while akhlaq values are manifested in the spirit of egalitarianism and the elimination of social barriers. The results further demonstrate that the festival has a significant impact on strengthening religious character and revitalizing social awareness within the community. The implications of this study highlight the importance of preserving religious-based cultural traditions as instruments of non-formal character education. The novelty of this research lies in its disclosure and analysis of the Islamic Religious Education dimension within the implementation of the Sekala Bekhak Festival, which encompasses the traditions of Sekura, Gambus, and Nyambai. Unlike previous studies that primarily emphasize historical and artistic aspects, this research specifically examines the integration of Islamic Religious Education values embedded in the Sekala Bekhak Festival.

Abstract

This study aims to describe learning strategies for children with autism in Special Needs Schools (SLB) through observation and interviews. The focus of the study was directed at the characteristics of children with autism, the types of learning strategies implemented by teachers, and the supporting and inhibiting factors in the learning process. This study used qualitative methods with a descriptive approach. The subjects consisted of one student with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and his/her accompanying teacher at the Taman Pendidikan Islam Medan Special Needs School. Data collection techniques included direct observation during learning activities and in-depth interviews with the teacher. Data were analyzed through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that the implemented learning strategies were individualized and structured, including one-teacher-one-child mentoring, the use of a modified curriculum, simple instructions, visual media, and a positive reinforcement system. These strategies were able to improve children's focus, learning responses, and emotional control during learning. However, the study also identified obstacles such as limited facilities, the absence of a Special Needs Teacher, and the child's internal conditions that impacted learning stability. Parental support and collaboration with the school are important factors in supporting child development. Therefore, adaptive, individualized and collaborative learning strategies are considered effective in supporting the learning process for children with autism in SLB.
