Abstract

Reading and writing literacy and digital literacy are basic competencies that need to be developed from elementary school level. Based on observations at SDN Sumber, Pangkur District, Ngawi Regency, it is known that students' interest in reading is still relatively low. This condition is caused by the limited availability of interesting reading materials and the suboptimal use of digital media in literacy activities. To overcome this problem, students from PGRI University Madiun's Community Service Program (KKN-T) group 32 implemented a community service program entitled “Happy Digital Literacy with Let’s Read .” This activity aimed to increase students' interest in reading and their ability to understand reading material through the integration of digital literacy using the Let’s Read application and the strengthening of printed reading materials in higher grades. The implementation method used a qualitative descriptive approach that included observation, coordination, media preparation, implementation, literacy reinforcement, evaluation, and reflection. The participants consisted of all students in grades I-VI, accompanied by teachers and KKN-T students as facilitators. The results of the activity showed that students were more enthusiastic during the reading process and were able to discuss the moral values of the stories. The use of digital media made reading activities in lower grades more interactive, while the addition of printed books to the reading corner increased reading intensity among students in higher grades. Overall, this program was effective in improving students' literacy skills and fostering a culture of sustainable literacy that supports the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum in elementary schools.

Abstract

Students conceptual understanding of science learning, particularly light and sound, is still low in fifth grade students at SDN Bulakparen 02. Students appear less active, ask fewer questions, and simply memorize without understanding the concepts. This condition indicates the need for learning media that can increase motivation and learning engagement, one of which is through gamification. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach to describe how gamification is implemented, how students are engaged during learning, and how the media helps conceptual understanding. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results show that gamification makes learning more interesting, increases students' attention and participation, and helps them understand the concepts of light and sound better. Thus, gamification is an effective strategy to improve the quality of science learning in elementary schools.

Abstract

Inclusive education has become an urgent necessity to ensure that students identified with autism receive equal learning opportunities. This study aims to explore teachers’ strategies in creating an inclusive learning environment for students identified with autism in Grade 1 at SDN 02 Jenawi. The research employed a descriptive qualitative approach with data obtained from classroom teacher interviews, observations of student behavior, and documentation of learning activities. Data collection techniques included in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and document analysis related to inclusive learning. Data validity was ensured through source and technique triangulation by comparing interview, observation, and documentation findings. Data analysis was conducted interactively using the Miles and Huberman model, which includes data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results indicate that teachers implemented differentiated instruction, positive reinforcement, regular monitoring, and collaboration with parents and peers, which effectively enhanced student participation, social skills, and independence. These findings contribute to inclusive education practices at the elementary school level and serve as a reference for teachers in designing adaptive learning strategies responsive to individual student needs.

Abstract

The problem identified in this research was the low critical thinking skills of students in Pancasila Education at SD Negeri 1 Karang Anyar. This condition was influenced by a lack of variety in learning models, which resulted in students being less active during the learning process. This study aimed to determine the effect of the Mind Mapping learning model on the critical thinking skills of fourth-grade students during the 2025/2026 academic year. The research population consisted of all 85 fourth-grade students. The sample was selected using a purposive sampling technique based on class characteristic suitability, involving 58 students: Class IVA as the control group and Class IVC as the experimental group. This study employed a quantitative approach with an experimental method, specifically a nonequivalent control group design. The research instruments comprised 15 essay questions and observation sheets to monitor the learning implementation. Based on the hypothesis testing using the Paired Sample t-Test, the results showed a Sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.000 < 0.05. Consequently, it was concluded that the implementation of the Mind Mapping learning model had a significant effect on the students' critical thinking skills in Pancasila Education at SD Negeri 1 Karang Anyar for the 2025/2026 academic year.

Abstract

Basic mathematics learning in elementary schools often remains teacher-centered and outcome-oriented, limiting students’ critical thinking and conceptual understanding. This study aims to examine the effect of applying the Discovery Learning model assisted by Student Worksheets (LKPD) on critical thinking skills and mathematics learning outcomes of fourth-grade students in Gugus III, Tanjung Mutiara District. The research employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design, involving an experimental class using Discovery Learning with LKPD and a control class using conventional methods. The sample consisted of 47 students: 24 in the experimental class (SDN 21 Durian Kapeh) and 23 in the control class (SDN 08 Durian Kapeh). Research instruments included critical thinking tests, learning outcome tests, and student response questionnaires. Data were analyzed using MANOVA after fulfilling normality and homogeneity assumptions. The results indicated that Discovery Learning assisted by LKPD had a significant effect on critical thinking skills (19.1%) and learning outcomes (25.7%), with a simultaneous contribution of 29.6%. These findings demonstrate that the Discovery Learning model assisted by LKPD is more effective than conventional methods in enhancing conceptual understanding and promoting higher-order thinking skills. Therefore, this model aligns with Bruner’s constructivist theory and the Merdeka Curriculum’s emphasis on active, contextual, and student-centered learning.

Abstract

Misconceptions were found in the initial test at a rate of 38%. Misconceptions that are left unaddressed can continue to carry over and hinder students' understanding of interrelated advanced concepts. Therefore, a Three Tier Multiple Choice diagnostic test instrument based on Google Forms is needed to identify misconceptions about KPK and FPB in elementary schools more deeply.. The development model used is the Borg & Gall model with 10 stages. The developed instrument was validated by subject matter and instrument experts and tested on a small scale with 14 sixth-grade students at SDN Bungkal and on a large scale with 76 fifth- and sixth-grade students at SDN Bendogerit 1. The results showed that the instrument was highly valid, with a score of 100% from subject matter experts and 88% from instrument experts. The instrument was also considered highly practical by teachers and students. The final results of the instrument showed that 21 questions were valid with a reliability score of 0.875. It had a moderate difficulty level with a score of 0.50 in tier 1 and 0.48 in tier 2. The discriminating power was rated as good with an average of 0.45 in tier 1 and 0.43 in tier 2. The quality of distractors on the final instrument was also fully active. The Google Forms-based Three Tier Multiple Choice (TTMC) diagnostic test was declared effective in identifying misconceptions with a significance level of <0.001. Cases of misconceptions were identified four types of misconceptions that emerged, namely 100% conceptual misconceptions, 62% calculation misconceptions, 24% strategy misconceptions, and 24% systematic misconceptions.

Abstract

This study describes the effect of learning styles on the critical thinking skills of elementary school students in Banyumas Regency, Central Java. The type of research used is field research with an ex post facto (survey) method, taking the research setting at Sokaraja Tengah Elementary School in Banyumas. The research sample used probability sampling with cluster sampling technique focused on 123 fourth-grade students. Data collection used a learning style questionnaire and critical thinking ability test. The data analysis technique used was Kruskal-Wallis non-parametric statistics because the data was not normally distributed. The Kruskal-Wallis result using a significance level of 0.05 and an Asymp. Sig. value of 0.004 < 0.05 indicates that there is a significant difference in critical thinking skills between students with different learning styles. Thus, the null hypothesis is rejected, meaning that there is an influence of learning style on the critical thinking skills of elementary school students in mathematics in Sokaraja Tengah Village, Banyumas.
