Abstract

Fatherlessness is commonly understood as the physical absence of a father. However, contemporary media increasingly portrays fatherlessness as the absence of a father's emotional involvement in a child's life. This study aims to analyze how Generation Z interprets fatherlessness as emotional absence in the film Andai Ibu Tidak Menikah dengan Ayah. This research employed a qualitative approach using Stuart Hall's Reception Analysis theory. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with Generation Z informants aged 20–25 years who had watched the film. The findings reveal that most informants interpret fatherlessness not merely as the physical absence of a father but as the failure of a father to establish emotional closeness, communication, attention, and active involvement in the child's life despite being physically present. The film also influenced several informants to reconstruct their understanding of fatherlessness from physical absence to emotional absence. Furthermore, the reception analysis identified dominant-hegemonic, negotiated, and oppositional positions, indicating that audience interpretations were shaped by personal experiences, family backgrounds, and emotional relationships with their fathers. This study contributes to communication studies by demonstrating that film representations play an important role in constructing Generation Z's understanding of fatherlessness as an issue of emotional presence rather than solely physical absence.

Abstract

Infidelity in marriage not only affects interpersonal relationships between spouses but also influences how victims manage personal information following the betrayal. This study aims to analyze the communication privacy management of infidelity victims in marital relationships using Sandra Petronio's Communication Privacy Management Theory. This research employed a qualitative approach with a phenomenological method. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with eight informants who had experienced infidelity in their marriages. The findings reveal that victims establish privacy boundaries by considering whether to disclose or conceal information about the infidelity, selectively choosing trusted individuals to receive such information, managing privacy boundaries on social media, negotiating information ownership with family members and close friends, and rebuilding their privacy and personal identity after the betrayal. The study also found that the management of communication privacy is dynamic and influenced by emotional conditions, trust, family considerations, and social consequences resulting from information disclosure. This study contributes to communication studies by demonstrating that victims actively negotiate and reconstruct their communication privacy following marital infidelity rather than merely concealing personal information.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the relationships between workload, social support, and psychological well-being and teachers' Quality of Work Life (QWL), both partially and simultaneously, among vocational high school (SMK) teachers in Panongan District, Tangerang Regency. This study employed a quantitative approach using a survey method with a correlational research design. The study population consisted of 164 teachers, from which 116 respondents were selected using the Slovin formula with a 5% margin of error and a proportional random sampling technique. Data were collected through a Likert-scale questionnaire and analyzed using simple and multiple linear regression with IBM SPSS Statistics. The findings revealed that workload had a negative and significant relationship with teachers' Quality of Work Life (β = -0.572; r = -0.722; R² = 0.521; p < 0.001). Social support showed a positive and significant relationship with teachers' Quality of Work Life (β = 0.608; r = 0.745; R² = 0.555; p < 0.001). Psychological well-being also demonstrated a positive and significant relationship with teachers' Quality of Work Life (β = 0.584; r = 0.712; R² = 0.507; p < 0.001). Simultaneously, workload, social support, and psychological well-being exhibited a very strong and significant relationship with teachers' Quality of Work Life, with a multiple correlation coefficient of 0.852, a coefficient of determination of 0.726, and an F-value of 98.824 (p < 0.001). These findings indicate that improving social support and psychological well-being, while maintaining a manageable workload, plays a crucial role in enhancing teachers' Quality of Work Life.

Abstract

In elementary schools, Social Studies (IPS) plays a crucial role in instilling knowledge about socioeconomic and historical aspects of life, while developing critical thinking skills to understand surrounding social events. However, current instruction remains conventional and relies heavily on rote memorization. Consequently, students remain passive and struggle to explain cause-and-effect relationships or summarize materials when facing analytical questions. This results in low critical thinking and poor learning outcomes, with initial data showing 74% of sixth-grade students scoring below the Minimum Competency Criterion (KKM). To address this, the study utilized the SCPB (Smart Card Pahlawan Bangsa) medium to improve students' critical thinking and learning outcomes. This Classroom Action Research (PTK) was conducted in two cycles—planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. The subjects were 27 sixth-grade students at SDN 01 Nambangan Lor during the 2025/2026 academic year. Data collected through observation sheets and evaluation tests were analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively. Critical thinking was measured using a Likert-scale checklist, while learning outcomes were evaluated via class averages. The results demonstrated significant improvement: critical thinking skills increased from 33% in the pre-cycle to 70% in Cycle I, reaching 100% in Cycle II. Student learning outcomes also improved, rising from 26% in the pre-cycle to 55% in Cycle I, and ultimately achieving 93% in Cycle II. These findings confirm that integrating SCPB effectively enhances critical thinking and learning outcomes in the IPAS program.

Abstract

The low level of students’ conceptual understanding of the human respiratory system indicates the need for a learning model that promotes active student engagement in the learning process. This study aimed to improve students’ conceptual understanding through the implementation of the Project Based Learning (PjBL) model on the topic of the human respiratory system in Grade V at SD Negeri 2 Bandar Dua. This research employed Classroom Action Research (CAR), conducted in two cycles, each consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection stages. The participants were 15 fifth-grade students. Data were collected through achievement tests, observations of teacher and student activities, and student response questionnaires. The data were analyzed descriptively by calculating the percentages of learning mastery, learning activities, and student responses. The findings revealed that the implementation of Project Based Learning effectively improved students’ conceptual understanding. Learning mastery increased from 26.6% in Cycle I to 86.7% in Cycle II. Teacher activity improved from the good to the very good category, with percentages ranging from 84.7% to 94.0%, while student activity increased from the fair to the very good category, with percentages ranging from 74.4% to 92.2%. Furthermore, 95.08% of students expressed highly positive responses to the implementation of Project Based Learning. Therefore, the Project Based Learning model is effective in enhancing students’ conceptual understanding while fostering a more active, collaborative, and meaningful learning environment in elementary science education

Abstract

The decline in national character amid globalization has become a major challenge that requires serious attention, particularly through the education sector. Elementary school serves as a strategic stage for instilling character values because children are in a crucial period of moral and personality development. Civic Education plays a significant role in developing students into responsible citizens with strong moral values based on Pancasila. This study aims to examine the contribution of Civic Education to the development of national character in elementary schools. The study employed a literature review method by collecting and analyzing relevant references from scientific journals, books, conference proceedings, and official documents related to Civic Education and character education. The findings indicate that Civic Education contributes significantly to character building by integrating Pancasila values into the learning process, fostering positive habits, and providing exemplary behavior through teachers and the school environment. Civic Education also promotes essential character values, including honesty, discipline, responsibility, tolerance, cooperation, and patriotism. Furthermore, character development is strengthened through classroom learning, co-curricular and extracurricular activities, as well as the implementation of a positive school culture. Therefore, Civic Education is not only intended to provide knowledge about citizenship but also functions as an effective instrument for shaping students' character from an early age. Strengthening Civic Education in elementary schools is expected to produce a generation that possesses noble character, social responsibility, democratic attitudes, and a strong commitment to national values.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of technology-based learning media on the academic achievement and learning motivation of elementary school students through a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach. Articles were collected from the Google Scholar database within the period of 2021–2026. The selection process was carried out systematically through the stages of identification, screening, eligibility, and inclusion, resulting in 14 articles that met the inclusion criteria. The findings indicate that technology-based learning media, such as interactive PowerPoint, learning videos, Wordwall, Nearpod, Augmented Reality, Articulate Storyline, educational games, Canva, Google Classroom, and WhatsApp Group, consistently have a positive effect on students’ academic achievement and motivation. Digital media is able to improve conceptual understanding, learning outcomes, interest, enthusiasm, and active engagement of students in learning. The improvement in academic achievement occurs due to the visual and interactive presentation of materials, while the increase in motivation is caused by a more interesting and enjoyable learning atmosphere. Although there are challenges such as limited infrastructure and teachers’ technological skills, the integration of technology-based media still contributes significantly to improving the quality of learning in elementary schools. Therefore, the use of technology-based learning media needs to be continuously encouraged to support the improvement of students’ academic achievement and learning motivation.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the significant effect of the Token Economics method on students' learning motivation in mathematics, specifically multiplication and division story problems, for fourth-grade students at SD Negeri Karangasem 1 Surakarta in the 2025/2026 academic year. The research method used was quantitative with a One-Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The population of this study was fourth-grade students at SDN Karangasem 1 Surakarta, with a saturated sample of 28 students from class IVA. The primary data collection technique was a closed-ended questionnaire with four Likert-type answers to measure learning motivation variables, supported by observation and documentation techniques. Instrument validity was tested using the Product Moment correlation formula, and its reliability showed a Cronbach's Alpha coefficient of 0.829 (Very Reliable Category). The results of the descriptive statistical analysis showed an average (mean) learning motivation score before the treatment (pretest) of 73.46, increasing to 83.54 in the posttest. Hypothesis testing was conducted using a parametric Paired Sample T-Test using SPSS. The Paired Sample T-Test output showed a Sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.000. Since the significance value of 0.000 < 0.05, the t-test was rejected and the t-test was accepted. It can be concluded that the implementation of the Token Economy method has a significant effect on students' learning motivation in solving multiplication and division math story problems. The implications of this study indicate that classroom management through structured external reinforcement can transform passive behavior patterns into active, competitive, and enthusiastic ones.
