Abstract

This study examines the representation of adolescent identity crisis in the character Kefas in the Indonesian film Surat untuk Masa Mudaku (2026). Adolescents raised in orphanages are frequently portrayed through stereotypes of delinquency, whereas their behaviour is rooted in complex psychosocial experiences. This research aims to reveal how the film constructs the identity crisis of Kefas through its system of cinematic signs. The study employs a descriptive qualitative approach with Roland Barthes' semiotic analysis covering three orders of signification, namely denotation, connotation, and myth, framed conceptually by Erik Erikson's psychosocial theory of identity versus role confusion. Data were collected through documentation of selected scenes and literature study. The findings show that the film constructs the identity crisis as a gradual psychosocial process: repeated experiences of loss form the root of the crisis; role confusion manifests through aggression, rebellion, and emotional withdrawal that continue into adulthood; the presence of a caregiver figure, Simon, opens a psychosocial moratorium as a safe space for identity exploration; and the crisis is resolved through fidelity marked by self-acceptance and openness. Through these representational choices, the film shifts the audience's reading of orphanage adolescents from moral judgment and stigma toward an understanding of the psychosocial experiences underlying their behaviour.

Abstract

This study aims to look at how the Violence Prevention and Handling Team (TPPK) works in preventing bullying based on Islamic values at SMKN 22 Jakarta. The research came about because verbal bullying is still happening, like teasing, giving inappropriate nicknames, over-the-top jokes, insults about physical conditions, and put-down comments toward friends. Verbal bullying is influenced by the idea that teasing is just a joke, peer pressure, lack of empathy, low emotional control, and not really understanding Islamic values, especially about keeping your words in check. The study uses a qualitative approach with a case study method. Data was collected through observations, interviews, and documentation. The informants include student representatives, guidance and counseling teachers, Islamic education teachers, and TPPK members. Data validity was checked through source triangulation and technique triangulation, Meanwhile, the data analysis used the Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña model. The research results show that TPPK has carried out the functions of preventing and handling bullying through socialization, counseling services, character building, mentoring, mediation, coordination with teachers and parents, as well as monitoring students. TPPK also integrates Islamic values, such as controlling speech, brotherhood, compassion, tolerance, empathy, responsibility, and noble character. The application of these values increases respect for each other, care, polite communication, courage to report bullying, and reduces verbal bullying cases. This study concludes that TPPK plays an important role in creating a safe, comfortable, conducive school environment and supports sustainable bullying prevention through collaboration with teachers, parents, students, and the strengthening of Islamic values.

Abstract

Self-regulated learning refers to students’ ability to manage their learning process systematically and continuously, encompassing the stages of planning, implementation, and evaluation of their own learning outcomes. Meanwhile, career maturity is defined as students’ readiness to plan their careers, explore and gather career-related information, and make appropriate and responsible career decisions. Students with a high level of self-regulated learning tend to be more capable of derecting themselves in planning and making independent career decisions. This study aimed to exanime the relationship between self-regulated learning and career maturity among eleventh-grade students as SMK Negeri 5 Mataram in the 2025/2026 academic year. This research amployed a quantitative approach with a correlational research design. The population consisted of 334 eleventh-grade students, and a sample of 77 students was selected for the study. Abstract

This study investigates the rapid transformation of digital media and its impact on how local culture is represented and negotiated on social media, specifically looking at the challenges of maintaining cultural authenticity for Generation Z. The objective of this research is to analyze the cultural communication practices, representations, and meaning-making processes regarding the preservation and revitalization of East Javanese arts on the Instagram account @cak_durasim. Utilizing a qualitative methodology with Christine Hine’s virtual ethnography approach, data were gathered through online participant observation and in-depth interviews with two account managers and five active followers. The collected data were analyzed using Miles and Huberman’s interactive model, comprising data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results indicate that the @cak_durasim account functions effectively as a digital cultural showcase ("etalase"), bridging high-context traditional arts with low-context digital platforms through visually appealing and simplified narrative adaptations tailored to Gen Z without abandoning core cultural rules ("pakem"). Furthermore, digital interactions reflect active audience reception; while "likes" signify superficial initial interest, the comment section serves as a dynamic space for critical negotiation, collaborative knowledge enrichment, and local identity affirmation. However, while digital documentation successfully expands cultural reach and awareness, it cannot completely substitute the emotional depth and experiential value of live physical performances.

Abstract

This quantitative study evaluated the comparative efficacy of gamified learning versus traditional instruction in enhancing primary school students' reading comprehension skills. Utilizing a quasi-experimental non-equivalent control group design, the research examined 50 second-grade students ( experimental group;  control group). Data were collected using reading comprehension assessments administered prior to (pre-test) and following (post-test) the intervention. Analytical procedures encompassed descriptive statistics, parametric assumption checks, an independent sample t-test, and Normalized Gain (N-Gain) metrics. Descriptive results revealed post-intervention mean scores of  for the experimental cohort and  for the control cohort, with both groups exhibiting moderate learning gains (N-Gain =  and , respectively). Inferential testing demonstrated no statistically significant difference in reading comprehension outcomes between the two instructional approaches (, Cohen's ). These findings indicate that gamification and traditional direct instruction yield comparable cognitive efficacy in early-grade reading literacy. Consequently, educators should carefully balance gamification elements with cognitive load considerations rather than assuming an inherent superiority of gamified instruction over traditional methods.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effects of transformational leadership of madrasah principals, School-Based Management, and teacher work engagement on educational quality in private Madrasah Aliyah (Islamic senior high schools) in Pondok Aren District, South Tangerang City, both partially and simultaneously. The study employed a quantitative approach using a survey method with an associative research design. The population consisted of 143 teachers from five private Madrasah Aliyah, with a sample of 105 teachers determined using the Slovin formula at a 5% margin of error. Data were collected through a validated and reliable Likert-scale questionnaire and analyzed using multiple linear regression with IBM SPSS Statistics. The results indicated that transformational leadership of madrasah principals had a positive and significant effect on educational quality (β = 0.394; t = 6.646), School-Based Management also had a positive and significant effect (β = 0.239; t = 4.686), and teacher work engagement positively and significantly influenced educational quality (β = 0.178; t = 3.183). Simultaneously, the three independent variables had a positive and significant effect on educational quality (F = 391.664; p < 0.001), with a coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.921, indicating that 92.1% of the variance in educational quality was explained by the three variables. Transformational leadership of madrasah principals was identified as the most dominant predictor of educational quality. These findings highlight the importance of strengthening transformational leadership, optimizing the implementation of School-Based Management, and enhancing teacher work engagement as strategic efforts to improve educational quality in madrasahs.

Abstract

This study examines the use of avatars as a form of virtual identity for adolescents in the online game Roblox. Roblox, as a virtual world-based gaming platform, provides a space for its users to shape, display, and negotiate their identities through avatar customization features. This study used a qualitative approach with data collection techniques through in-depth interviews with ten informants aged 19 to 22 who are active Roblox users and have customized avatars. The results show that avatars are not only understood as visual characters in the game, but also as a form of presence, self-image, and representation of the player's identity in the digital space. Avatar customization becomes a means for informants to express taste, creativity, and the self-image they want to present to other players. Avatars also allow informants to construct various forms of identity, ranging from the real self, ideal self, alternative self, to alter egos that differ from everyday life. Furthermore, the use of Robux in avatar customization indicates a relationship between digital consumption and virtual identity formation. Paid items, custom avatars, and certain avatar appearances can become symbols of social status within the Roblox community. Thus, this study shows that avatars in Roblox play an important role in the process of adolescent self-representation in the virtual space. The virtual identity formed through an avatar is flexible, fluid, and can change according to desires, the context of the game, and the social response of the digital environment.

Abstract

The Condet area in East Jakarta has long been associated with the image of being a residential center for people of Arab descent, particularly those originating from the Hadramaut region of Yemen. Since the late 1990s, the population of this community has continued to grow rapidly. One of the most distinctive visual characteristics of the people in this area is their custom of wearing the imamah or turban. For them, the imamah is not merely a traditional garment inherited from their ancestors, but also carries profound religious significance as an expression of obedience in practicing the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.Using a literature review approach that draws upon various historical, religious, and socio-cultural sources, this article examines in greater depth the function and meaning behind the tradition of wearing the imamah. The findings reveal that the use of the imamah in Condet is driven by three primary dimensions. First is the religious dimension, namely the practice of the Sunnah. Second is the social dimension, in which the imamah often serves as a symbol of a person's status or scholarly authority, particularly among Islamic scholars (ulama) and habaib. Third, it functions as an affirmation of ethnic identity, helping preserve Hadrami cultural roots amid the diversity of Betawi society.Furthermore, differences in the color, size, and style of wrapping the *imamah* also represent the social and religious stratification within the community itself. Through this article, it is hoped that it will serve as a foundation for further field research, particularly studies concerning the dynamics of religious and ethnic identity among Arab-Yemeni descendant communities in Indonesia.
