Abstract

This study was conducted to examine the effect of applying the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model supported by flash card media on the Science and Social Studies (IPAS) learning outcomes of fourth-grade students at SD Negeri Wukirsari, particularly on the topic of Indonesia's Cultural Diversity. The research adopted a quantitative approach using a Pre-Experimental Design with a One Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The participants consisted of all students in the fourth grade of SD Negeri Wukirsari, who served as both the population and the research sample. Data were obtained through a learning achievement test comprising 16 valid multiple-choice items that had previously met the criteria of validity, reliability, item difficulty, and discrimination index. The collected data were then analyzed using the Chi-Square normality test and the t-test to test the research hypothesis. The findings revealed an improvement in students' learning outcomes after the learning model was implemented. The average pre-test score was 50.85, while the average post-test score increased to 80.11. The results of the Chi-Square normality test indicated that both the pre-test and post-test scores were normally distributed. In addition, the hypothesis testing using the t-test confirmed that the implementation of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model assisted by flash card media significantly influenced students' learning outcomes in Science and Social Studies (IPAS). Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the use of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model supported by flash card media contributed significantly to improving the Science and Social Studies (IPAS) learning outcomes of fourth-grade students at SD Negeri Wukirsari on the topic of Indonesia's Cultural Diversity.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the low science learning outcomes of fifth grade students at SDN 10 Surau Gadang. This issue stemmed from a lack of orderliness during lessons as many students played around rather than focusing and a lack of variety in the instructional media used. The study aimed to determine the effect of the Creative Problem Solving (CPS) learning model, supported by diorama media, on the science learning outcomes of fifth-grade students at SDN 10 Surau Gadang. A quasi-experimental design was employed, specifically the Nonequivalent Posttest-Only Control Group Design. The study population consisted of all fifth grade students at the school, with Class VA serving as the experimental group and Class VB as the control group; a saturated sampling technique was used. Data were collected via tests, utilizing an objective instrument consisting of multiple choice questions. Hypothesis testing was conducted using the t test statistic, preceded by normality and homogeneity tests at a significance level of 0.05. Posttest results revealed that the experimental class achieved a higher mean score 78 compared to the control class 65. Hypothesis testing yielded a t-calculated value of 2.611 and a t-table value of 2.035; since t-calculated > t-table, the null hypothesis H0 was rejected and the alternative hypothesis H1 was accepted. The study concludes that the application of the Creative Problem Solving (CPS) learning model, supported by diorama media, positively influences the science learning outcomes of fifth grade students at SDN 10 Surau Gadang. Keywords: Creative Problem Solving (CPS), Diorama, Learning Outcomes, Science.

Abstract

This study analyzes how the school principal implements the management functions of planning, organizing, actuating, and controlling at PAUD Filadelfia Patumbak II, and identifies the factors that support and inhibit their implementation. Preliminary observation found that learning planning ran below its potential, learning media use remained limited, and supervision and evaluation lacked consistency. Using a qualitative single case study design, the study drew data from one principal as the key informant and four teachers as supporting informants through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation. Data were analyzed with the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña and validated through source and method triangulation. The four management functions generally ran well, though their effectiveness varied. Six supporting factors spanned internal and external dimensions, while four inhibiting factors emerged: limited facilities and operational funding, the principal's limited digital literacy, disrupted supervision during the principal's maternity leave, and one teacher's academic qualification below the required standard. These findings point to a leadership-substitution protocol, digital literacy training for principals, and accelerated qualification support for underqualified teachers as concrete steps for strengthening management practice in similarly resourced early childhood institutions.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the level of difficulty of students in grade IV of MI Fathul Huda Sumengko in understanding the concept of place values, reading numbers, and writing integers, as well as testing the validity and reliability of the test instruments used. This study is a quantitative descriptive research with 19 students. Data was collected through a written test of 20 questions that included three indicators, namely place values, reading numbers, and writing numbered numbers. The validity test of the question item was carried out using the Pearson correlation technique (item-total), while the reliability test was carried out with Cronbach's Alpha technique. The results showed that of the 20 questions, 9 were declared valid and 11 were declared invalid, with an instrument reliability coefficient of 0.701 which was classified as high/reliable. The test results showed an average student score of 86.32 with a completion percentage of 84.21% based on the Minimum Completeness Criteria (KKM) of 75. Analysis of the difficulty level per indicator showed that the number writing indicator had the highest difficulty level (9.65%), followed by reading numbers (8.77%), and place values (7.24%). These findings indicate that students still have relatively greater difficulty in writing number symbols from verbal descriptions than reading them, so learning reinforcement is needed that emphasizes understanding of concepts, not just procedural memorization.

Abstract

Indonesian language learning in elementary schools, particularly in folklore instruction, still faces problems related to students’ low ability to understand folklore elements, including characters, plot, setting, and moral values. This condition is caused by the dominant use of conventional teaching methods that provide limited student engagement. Therefore, there is a need for interactive learning media to support meaningful learning (deep learning). This study aimed to determine whether there is an effect of using Canva-based drag-and-drop puzzle media on third-grade students’ ability to understand folklore elements. This study used a posttest-only control group design using a quantitative, quasi-experimental methodology. Students at SDN Rungkut Menanggal I/528 Surabaya in the third grade served as the participants. They were split into two groups: an experimental group and a control group. A posttest was used to gather the data, and an independent samples t-test was used for analysis. With a significance value of less than 0.05, the results demonstrated a substantial difference in posttest scores between the experimental and control groups. Therefore, it can be concluded that Canva-based drag-and-drop puzzle media have a significant effect on improving students’ ability to understand folklore elements.

Abstract

The busy work schedules of parents often reduce the amount of time they can spend with their children, resulting in part of the caregiving responsibilities being delegated to domestic helpers. This condition makes parental involvement and the role of domestic helpers important factors in the character development of young children. This study aims to describe the involvement of working parents and the role of domestic helpers in children's character development at Cahya Mentari Daycare, Playgroup, and Kindergarten, Universitas Ngudi Waluyo, as well as to identify the forms of collaboration among parents, domestic helpers, and the school in supporting children's character development. This study employed a qualitative approach using a descriptive research method. The participants consisted of working parents, domestic helpers involved in child caregiving, and teachers at Cahya Mentari Daycare, Playgroup, and Kindergarten, Universitas Ngudi Waluyo. Data were collected through observations, in-depth interviews, and documentation. Data analysis was conducted through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The trustworthiness of the data was ensured through source triangulation and technique triangulation. The findings indicate that parental involvement in children's character development is determined not only by the amount of time spent with children but also by the quality of interaction, communication, role modeling, supervision, and the cultivation of character values. Domestic helpers play a supporting role in daily childcare by encouraging children to develop discipline, independence, responsibility, honesty, and politeness in accordance with the guidance provided by parents. In addition, teachers reinforce character development through learning activities at school. Children's character development is more effective when there is good communication, shared parenting goals, and consistent collaboration among parents, domestic helpers, and the school. The implications of this study suggest that successful character development requires continuous synergy among families, domestic helpers, and educational institutions. Therefore, it is recommended that parents remain actively involved in parenting despite their work commitments, provide clear guidance to domestic helpers regarding the expected parenting practices, and maintain intensive communication with teachers to ensure that character values taught at home and at school are implemented consistently.
