Abstract

This study was conducted due to the low ability to write syllables in the early grades of class 1 SDN Gayamsari 02 Semarang City with 28 students as subjects. Initial observations conducted at the pre-learning stage showed that many students had difficulty in writing syllables correctly. This study aims to: (1) describe the application of the Sergu Board, (2) Describe the results of the Sergu Board effectiveness test in learning to write syllables with the synectic model. Research methodology using the mix method. Research Results: (a) Implementing the Sergu Board in Learning Steps with the Synectic Model: Stage 1: Students are asked to describe a condition. Stage 2: Students are asked to make a direct analogy. Stage 3: Students are asked to make a personal analogy. Stage 4: The teacher asks questions that are dilemmatic/conflict. Stage 5: Students are asked to make further analogies. Stage 6: Students review the results of the analogy and learning assignments. (b) Results of the Sergu Board effectiveness test in learning to write syllables with the synectic model. Showing an increase in the average value of skills up 61% and the average value of creativity up 30% compared to the average value last year. The application of the synectic model based on the Sergu Board creates a creative and enjoyable learning atmosphere, thereby increasing student participation and literacy skills. This study concludes that the synectic model based on the Sergu Board is effective in improving syllable writing skills in grade I students.

Abstract

This study aims to improve the learning motivation of 5A grade students at SDN DUKUH KUPANG II SURABAYA through the implementation of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model in the subject "How is the Shape of My Indonesia," supported by the digital media ArcGIS. The background of this research is the low student motivation in understanding abstract and less contextual geographical material. The method used is Classroom Action Research (CAR), conducted in two cycles consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection. Data were collected using questionnaires, observations, and interviews. The results showed that the implementation of PBL assisted by ArcGIS significantly enhanced students’ learning motivation. In cycle I, the average motivation level was 68%, which increased to 85% in cycle II. Student engagement in discussions also increased from 65% to 82%. These findings indicate that PBL combined with digital media can create active, enjoyable, and meaningful learning experiences, and is therefore recommended as an innovative approach to thematic learning in primary schools.

Abstract

Literacy at the basic education level is a fundamental aspect in shaping students' academic skills and character. This study aims to comprehensively examine various concepts, implementation and problems of literacy at the primary school level through a qualitative approach with a literature review method. Data sources were obtained from relevant national and international journals published in the last five to ten years. The results show that literacy is not only related to technical reading and writing skills, but also the foundation of students' critical and reflective thinking. Although the government has rolled out various policies such as the School Literacy Movement (GLS) and the Merdeka Curriculum, their implementation has faced various obstacles such as limited facilities, low teacher competence and lack of parental involvement. Therefore, cross-sectoral synergy is needed to build a literacy ecosystem that is holistic, sustainable and contextual to the needs of children at primary school age.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the role of deaf volunteers in learning to read the Qur'an for children with special needs. by using a qualitative approach with a case study method. This study analyzes the experiences, challenges, and strategies applied by deaf volunteers in teaching the Qur'an packaged in learning at the Assakinah Teman Tuli Al Qur'an Education Park (TPQ Assakinah Teman Tuli). Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and document analysis at an inclusive TPQ involving 10 deaf volunteers and 27 students with special needs. The results of this study show that deaf volunteers play an important role in creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment. They use a variety of innovative methods, such as visual approaches, sign language, and tactile learning tools, to overcome communication barriers and facilitate student understanding. In addition, deaf volunteers show high adaptability and strong empathy, which has a positive impact on student motivation and confidence. Nonetheless, volunteers face a variety of challenges, including limitations in access to appropriate learning resources and the need for more in-depth training in Qur'anic teaching methods. The authors in this regard suggest the need for further support from educational institutions and communities to increase the effectiveness of the role of deaf volunteers, including the development of a more inclusive curriculum and ongoing training. Overall, this study reveals that deaf volunteers have great potential to contribute to learning to read the Qur'an for children with special needs, and emphasizes the importance of collaboration between various parties to realize a more inclusive and accessible education.

Abstract

This article examines in depth eight essential teaching skills for primary school teachers as part of their professional competence in effective learning practices. The teaching skills include: (1) small group discussion skills, (2) classroom management skills, and (3) small group and individual discussion skills. The research method used is a literature study that relies on written sources as the main data source, without collecting field data. Data sources were analyzed from various scientific journals, textbooks, and relevant education policy documents, especially those published in the last five years. The results of this study show that it is crucial to acquire teaching skills for learning effectiveness. This is particularly important in the context of basic training which emphasizes a holistic central approach. Moreover, these skills connect and shape the entire learning cycle. The findings are expected to be a reference for PGSD students and educators in the development of reflexive and adaptive learning practices.

Abstract

The character formation of elementary school students is a critical issue in education, especially in rural areas where the influence of local culture can play a vital role. This study aims to develop a character education module based on local wisdom to foster positive character traits among third-grade students at SD Negeri 01 Purwosari. Using the Research and Development (R&D) method with the 4D model Define, Design, and Develop the research focused on designing and validating a character education module that integrates local traditions, values, and folklore. Data were obtained through observations, interviews, expert validation, and limited-scale trials. The findings revealed that the character education module based on local wisdom is valid, practical, and effective in supporting students' character development. Students demonstrated significant improvement in character indicators such as religious values, honesty, empathy, politeness, and cooperation, with an N-gain score of 0,59 (moderate category). The integration of local cultural elements into the learning process not only enhanced character outcomes but also strengthened students’ cultural identity. This research concludes that the developed module has strong potential to be implemented more widely in character education practices.

Abstract

Mathematics learning is expected to train students’ thinking patterns so they develop the ability to solve problems. However, mathematics is often considered difficult and disliked by students because teachers rarely use models or media that can help attract students’ interest in learning, resulting in students having difficulty understanding the material. This study aims to determine the effect of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model on the learning outcomes of area measurement for fourth-grade students at SDN 05 Air Tawar Barat. This research is quantitative, using an experimental approach with a quasi-experimental design in the form of a Nonequivalent Control Group Design. Sample data was collected using purposive sampling, with the population consisting of fourth-grade students from public elementary schools in Region III, Padang District. The selected samples were class IV A of SDN 05 Air Tawar Barat as the experimental class and class IV B of SDN 05 Air Tawar Barat as the control class. The instrument used in this study was an objective test in the form of multiple-choice questions. Based on the research results, the average post-test score of the experimental class was 63.39, while the control class scored 50.32. The t-test showed a significance value of 0.002 < 0.05, and the calculated t-value was 3.183 > 2.00488. Therefore, according to the decision rule for the Independent Sample T-Test, H₀ is rejected and Hₐ is accepted, indicating a significant effect of using the Problem Based Learning model on the learning outcomes of area measurement for fourth-grade elementary school students.These findings are consistent with broader research showing that PBL enhances students’ mathematics learning outcomes, problem-solving abilities, and engagement compared to conventional methods

Abstract

This study was motivated by the low learning outcomes of students in learning mathematics, especially in addition and subtraction materials with the method of saving and borrowing. This study aims to improve the learning outcomes of 3rd grade students of SD Muhammadiyah 1 Surakarta on the material of addition and subtraction using the maze board media. This research is a qualitative research with a class action research design (PTK) and the research subjects are 3rd grade students of SD Muhammadiyah 1 Surakarta. This research was conducted in two cycles. Data collection techniques in this study used tests, observation and documentation. The data obtained were analyzed using qualitative descriptive analysis. The results showed that the learning outcomes of students increased significantly after using the labyrinth board learning media during the learning process.

Abstract

Perkembangan teknologi informasi dan komunikasi telah memberikan dampak besar dalam dunia pendidikan, khususnya melalui integrasi media pembelajaran berbasis web. Namun, pembelajaran Informatika di SMK masih menghadapi tantangan, terutama dalam meningkatkan motivasi dan pemahaman siswa terhadap materi algoritma dan pemrograman secara mandiri. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengembangkan media pembelajaran interaktif berbasis web dengan pendekatan Problem-Based Learning (PBL). Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah Research and Development (R&D) dengan model pengembangan 4D (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate). Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi, validasi ahli, dan angket siswa. Hasil validasi oleh ahli materi dan media menunjukkan tingkat kelayakan sangat tinggi dengan persentase 94,79%. Uji coba pada 45 siswa menunjukkan tingkat kelayakan sebesar 84,65%. Selain itu, terjadi peningkatan motivasi belajar siswa sebesar 9,61% setelah menggunakan media yang dikembangkan. Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa media pembelajaran berbasis web dengan pendekatan PBL dinyatakan valid dan efektif dalam meningkatkan motivasi serta keterlibatan siswa dalam proses pembelajaran.

Abstract

Smartphone kini menjadi kebutuhan esensial yang dimiliki oleh berbagai lapisan masyarakat dan berpotensi mendukung proses pembelajaran. Namun, penggunaan smartphone yang tidak tepat, seperti untuk aktivitas non-akademik selama pembelajaran berlangsung berdampak negatif terhadap hasil belajar dan keterlibatan siswa. penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji efektivitas penerapan Game-based learning (GBL) melalui media game edukasi berbasis Android bernama Giga Run dalam memanfaatkan smartphone untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar dan keterlibatan siswa pada mata pelajaran Informatika di SMK Teknik PAL Surabaya. Desain penelitian ini menggunakan kuasi-eksperimen, yang melibatkan 40 siswa yang dibagi dalam kelompok eksperimen dan kontrol. Kelompok eksperimen menggunakan GBL dalam pembelajaran, sementara kelompok kontrol menggunakan metode konvensional. Data dikumpulkan melalui pretest dan posttest untuk mengukur hasil belajar, serta kuesioner Likert untuk mengukur keterlibatan siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa GBL melalui Giga Run cukup efektif meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa serta menghasilkan tingkat keterlibatan belajar yang lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan metode pembelajaran konvensional.
