Abstract

This study aims to describe the history and distribution of Randai, as well as making Randai’s distribution maps in Kuantansingi Regency, Riau Province. This research is qualitative-descriptive. The data are obtained through field data and library data. Through this research, it is known that the Randai of Kuantansingingi originally comes from Minangkabau and has undergone changes. The acculturation of Minangkabau culture with Malay and change of times has led to changes in stories, language, costumes, dances (joget), musical instruments, and when it is performed, even the view of people on Randai. In the process of making the Randai of Kuantansingingi’s Map in Riau Province, 49 Randai groups were inventoried in various sub-districts in Kuantansingingi Regency. All these Randai groups have been mapped onto the Map of Kuantansingingi’s Randai.

Abstract

This study aims to reveal the representation, relations, and identity of the Maritime Laws using a critical ecolinguistic approach. This linguistic phenomenon is a treasure trove of Malay intellectual property in the past. This type of research is literature research with a qualitative descriptive method. The data was collected by using the method of observing free and speaking with observation and note-taking techniques. The data analysis used the mix and match methods, especially referential equivalents, translational equivalents, and pragmatic equivalents. The results of data analysis were explained using informal methods. The data used is written data from the Malay Maritime Laws. The results have shown that the contents of the text of the Malay Maritime Laws are related to the duties and obligations of seafarers who sail. Ecolexicons, phrases, and sentences related to marine and shipping existed at that time. This fact occurs because the sea has been the lifeblood of the Malay people for centuries and will continue to be passed on to future generations.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the moral values ​​contained in the film Nanti Kita Cerita Tentang Hari Ini. This type of research is qualitative research, using descriptive analysis research methods. Data analysis is inductive or qualitative, and the results of the study emphasize meaning rather than generalization. In the film Nanti Kita Stories About Today by Angga Dwimas Sasongko, there is a form of moral values ​​film, namely individual moral values, which include: honesty, courage, patience, hard work, self-sacrifice, humility., take responsibility, lie. And social moral values include cooperation, help, love, deliberation. The researcher found that the results of the data were 60 the number of moral values ​​contained in the dialogue between characters, which were divided into social moral values ​​consisting of honesty 6, courage 6, patience 6, hard work 4, willingness to sacrifice 2, humility 1, responsibility 8, lying 2 Social moral values ​​consist of: cooperation 2, like to help 2, love 19, deliberation 2. Where the moral value of love is the most found data and humility is the least data found.

Abstract

This research is about The Analysis of Translation Techniques in Translating Ahmad Fuadi’s Negeri 5 Menara into Angie Kilbane’s The Land of 5 Towers. This analysis is library research and applying the descriptive method. From the analysis, it found out that the translator applies all of eighteen techniques translation by Molina and Albir, they are: Pure Borrowing with 23 data. Naturalized Borrowing with 17 data. Calque with 13 data. Literal Translation with 17 data. Compensation with 4 data. Transposition with 27 data. Description with 9 data. Modulation with 69 data. Amplification with 18 data. Adaptation with 33 data. Established Equivalent with 6 data. Generalization with 17 data. Particularization with 4 data. Reduction with 22 data. Discursive Creation with 2 data. Substitution, Linguistic Compression, and Linguistic Amplification with 5 data. Variation with 7 data. The most dominant technique used is Modulation with 69 data, while the most less technique used is Discursive Creation with 2 data.

Abstract

This research discusses the types, functions, and dominant types contained in the conversation of the main character in the comic " The Adventures of Tintin Volume 8 “. Comic is one of the picture books which are popular with youth and children. This comic tells the characters of Tintin, who like the main character, plays a detective. A picture that represents the character’s actions reinforces each utterance presented by the characters. The focus of the study in this discussion is to answer the research statement, namely the types of Illocutionary Acts in the Comic “ The Adventures of Tintin Vol 8 “ and the functions as well as the dominant types found in the conversation. In this research, the writer found out the types of Illocutionary acts from the 3 stories are Representative, Directive, Expressive and Commissive. From the 3 stories, there are slightly different functions depending on the situation of each story. The dominant types are representatives. Its shows that Tintin representing the statement from his acts to make the listener believe in his word.

Abstract

Hornbills or Buceros sp. are often used in various Dayak society activities, both of body parts and body illustrations. It shows that hornbills means very important for Dayak society. The importance and sacredness of hornbills can be seen through the structural symbolic concept of Levi-Strauss, which sees myth as starting from its structure before developing into a set of objects and phenomena in the application. Hornbills are believed to play an important role in various aspects of life, through this found concept development that includes objects and phenomena such as buildings, clothing, weapons, leadership and brotherhood, performances, and ceremonies.

Abstract

When new technology is available on various platforms, there are many transfers of knowledge content or even the platform itself as a medium that produces culture, the result can be convergence, culture becomes more similar, more similar and uniform as a result, or divergence when culture adopts technology. in a different way that maintains or even accentuates the difference. Johnston and Johal (1999) stated that the internet is a virtual culture by using the dimensions of Hofstede (1980) it can be concluded that internet culture develops and is unified and uniformized. In this case, the algorithm plays a role in regulating the flow of culture that will be transferred to users so that it becomes uniform. Marcus and Gould (2000) review selected platforms for transferring convergent cultures, based on an analysis of the recent work by Hofstede (1991). it can be concluded that culture, as revealed by Hofstede's dimension, does indeed affect multiple platforms and has the potential to be the same or monoculture. With discourse analysis supported by digital data from the Tik Tok platform, this article is expected to contribute to the idea that many platforms are used in social media, which can produce new cultures or even reproduce cultures that are uniform and certain.

Abstract

Sergapan atau De Aanslag adalah sebuah novel yang bercerita tentang tokoh utama, Anton, yang mengalami gangguan-gangguan kejiwaan. Gangguan­gangguan kejiwaan itu, yakni selalu merasa takut, merasa tenang dalam kegaduhan, menderita migren, kecanduan menonton sandiwara, sibuk mengisi teka­teki, mengalami mimpi-mimpi, sering berilusi, tegang, gelisah, dan menggigil. Berbagai gangguan kejiwaan yang dialami tokoh Anton ini hanya dapat dijelaskan dengan baik melalui analisis psikoanalisis. Hasil analisis menunjukkan, bahwa berbagai gangguan kejiwaan itu disebabkan oleh adanya konflik antara hasrat yang berhubungan dengan kejadian masa lalu yang ingin dilupakan dan kenyataan-kenyatatan yang ada, yang mengingatkannya kembali ke masa lalu itu. Lebih jauh, hasrat taksadamya untuk melakukan incest dengan ibunya telah menyebabkan tokoh Anton berganti-ganti pacar dan juga istri, dan kemudian merasa cocok dengan istri yang dapat membangitkan kenangannya terhadap sang ibu.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kebudayaan suku Talang Mamak terutama pada adat istiadat perkawinan pada suku talang mamak yang dikategorikan sebagai masyarakat terasing. Hasil penelitian ini membuktikan bahwa adat istiadat perkawinan begawai masih dilaksanakan walaupun waktunya sampai 4 bulan masih ada sampai sekarang. Sesuai dengan perkembangan zaman sudah mulai ada yang hilang seiring dengan kemajuan budaya. Namun budaya Upacara ritual ini masih dilaksanakan sampai saat sekarang.
