Abstract

Hisab takwim is one of the elements, learned and applied by the tarekat syatarariah followers. One of the applications of this knowledge is to determine the beginning of Ramadhan which is done by noticing the Ramadhan moon. In Minangkabau, in the 19 century, even untilnow, this idea is still debatable between the tarekat syatariah and other Islamic groups, moreover among the tarekat Syattariyah followers themselves. In the development, the tarekat Syattariyah is called the group of "puasa melihat bulan" and the renewal group is called the group of "puasa melihat dinding". In the context, Kitab al-Takwim Walsiyam is written by Imam Maulana Abdul Manaf Amin al-Khatib. This writing contains texts dealing with hisab takwim, including the way is used and the debate on how it is used.

Abstract

Syair is one of literary works which is well known in Malay society. One of syair exists in this age is Syair Nasib Melayu written by Riau culturalist, Tenas Effendy. This research aims to analyze the first pait of the syair. It tells us the early development of Malay, from Malay Kingdom in Bintan until this modem age. From the stages of Malay development presented in this syair, it can be concluded that Malay people starts from glory toward decline. Malay tuah (prestige) seems to be declined because Malay people are powerless to compete with other people.

Abstract

The new social space among others, see from a formation of identities of the players according to the identity of a particular character or their role in the game, the formation. Gamer community is a new virtual community, and there is new informatif network among gamers. Online games have a significant influence on the lives of these players, where the reality is often found in the online space more real to them than the actual reality in everyday life. It was predicted to influence the behaviour of gamers in the real world, so in this research it will also be viewed online gaming influence on behaviour in the real world gamers. This study uses qualitative methods, case studies, in-depth interview technique, observation and secondary data. The data were collected inside and outside of "cyberspace" with involved observatio, where researchers followed individually in the online and offline to get a complate picture of their activities. The results of the research discovers and explains the reasons hiperreality in play, as the impact Hiperreality Addicted and Identity Conflicts in the real world and the world of cyberspace, all based on perceptions and experiences of the players. Thus it can be further identified the negative impact of these technologies in social life.

Abstract

The research entitles Lexicon in Malay Traditional Wedding: Etnolinguistic Study. This research is inspired by uniqueness traditiona Malay wedding. The aim of this research is to describe the terms of series of activities and speech acts used in each set of Malay traditional wedding. Besides, it also interpret es the meanings of the activities. The data used as the object of the research are written and oral texts dealing with the traditional Malay wedding. Such as Tenggantung-gantung, Malam Berinai, Upacara Berandam, Upacara Khatam Al-Qur 'an, Upacara Hantaran Belanja, and others.

Abstract

The research attempted to describe the kinship relationship between Riau Malay language and Akit dialect, a historical approach. This research was conducted in Padang Island, Kepulauan Meranti regency, using 200 Swadesh’s basic vocabulary as an analytical material, both lexicon equations were found about 80% by comparison of identical. The method used was descriptive-qualitative. The data was collected by using cakap method and simak method. The data analysis applies agih method with deletion technique, substitution technique. The data used was spoken language. The data was collected by using questionnaire, interviews, observation, and intuition methods. The source of data was Malay language Akit dialect. The result of the research showed that even though there are 80% similarities of both languages but there are some Akit words that still different from Malay language. These vocabularies must be preserved if it will not be lost in time since they are familiar with technology, many of their vocabularies are no longer used and they tend to use the Malay vocabularies.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to determine the use of Indonesian standard in headline news in newspaper discourse relate to the diction/vocabulary; writing; sentence structure; and use of vernacular languages, and foreign terms. This research focuses on the use of Indonesian standard in the headline newspaper of Harian Fajar newspaper. This research is a qualitative method of content analysis. The source data are from daily Harian Fajar Tajuk Newspaper. The result showed that the diction or vocabulary in the discourse of headline news used language hyperbole, oxymoron, and personification. The writing word such as acronyms, technical terms. The majority of the style of language used by the writer is hyperbole. The writer used many acronyms. The technical terms are dominated by English vocabulary. The writing is not appropriate, namely: the writing of the word, the error in the writing of letters, capital letters, the compound word, and preposition di. Particle that often arise in the writing errors is pun. These of punctuation is not appropriate, namely the use of comma, in the details of words and the use of hyphen in the decoding in the words. The sentence structure in the form of the head line news of Harian Fajar is to be a symbol (+), proverbs, advice, and imperative sentence. The ambiguous sentence, conjunction occur due to improving is not appropriate, ie: untuk kemudian, padahal agar, mesti, sehingga, jadi, karena, disebabkan oleh, dan bahwa. Many sentences found in the data are ineffective. One of the reasons is became of a combination of the two ideas in a sentence. There is a tendency of the writer to write down his words affix me- writer the based words only and many sentences do not have clear subject.

Abstract

This study aims to reveal the shifting forms of mother's brother function in the guardianship Batu Badinding community, the cause of the shift in the function of mother's brother biological in the customar practices of the Minangkabau people in the guardianship Batu Badinding community, the impact of the shift in the function of the mother's brother in the implementation of the Minangkabau Customs in guardianship Batu Badinding. This is a case study research. The informant selection technique uses a method (purposive sampling). the results showed that there had been a shift in the function of mother's brother biological in guardianship Batu Badinding community (1) The forms of shifting functions of mother's brother were: (a) in the economic field, (b) in the field of education, (c) in the religious field, and ( d) in the field of Custom (e) in the field of marriage. (2) The causes of the shifting of mother's brother biological functions are: (a) lifestyle in overseas, (b) mother's brother prioritizes children and wives, (c) lack of indigenous knowledge of mother's brother (d) low economic level of mother's brother , (e) mother's brother morality low, (f) the influence of values in Islam. (3) The impact of the shift in the function of the mother's brother biological, namely: (a) the mother's brother figure is less respected by the niece, (b) the authority of mother's brother begins to fade in the middle of the community (c) the fading of kinship and social relations between mother's brother and niece, (d) changes in structure and responsibility family answer.
