Abstract

The yajña routine carried out by generations of Balinese Hindus seems to be synonymous with festivity, which ultimately becomes a paradox in religious life. Therefore, the younger generation of Hindus needs to be equipped with the philosophical meaning of the implementation of yajña through the basis of literature, in order to have a clear and directed basis or basis regarding their obligations in maintaining the preservation and sustainability of the yajña tradition in the space of religious spirituality. There are three things that become the basis of the problem in this research study, namely related to the structure of Dewa Tattwa literature, the tattwa of yajña quality contained therein, and the function of understanding the tattwa of yajña quality for the Hindu generation. The data studied in this qualitative research was collected through document recording techniques and literature, which in the process of analysis was carried out with qualitative descriptive techniques. The purpose of this study is to reveal the functional basis of instilling philosophical values in the implementation of yajña according to the Dewa Tattwa text for the younger generation of Hindus. The results of the analysis show the structure of the Dewa Tattwa text, including the formal structure (manggala, corpus, epilogue and language) and narrative structure (text theme and speech aspects). The yajña quality tattwa contained therein, includes religious tattwa (symbolic), spiritual moral tattwa, Hindu legal tattwa (awig-awig), and also legitimization tattwa (ratification or inauguration). Regarding the function of cultivating the quality of yajña implementation for the younger generation of Hindus according to Dewa Tattwa literature, including; educational function, rescue function, discipline function, decency function, and self-control function.

Abstract

This study focuses on Interfaith Marriages, where marriage occurs between two individuals with different religious beliefs. In the context of the Catholic Church, interfaith marriages are categorized into two types: interfaith marriages and inter-church marriages. Interfaith marriage involves a Catholic marrying a non-baptized individual of another faith, while inter-church marriage involves a Catholic marrying a non-Catholic who has already been baptized. This phenomenon has complex implications, in terms of religion, society, and law. Therefore, this research aims to provide an overview of interfaith marriages by presenting the Catholic perspective and legal aspects of the phenomenon in Indonesia. This study also seeks to understand the Catholic Church's views on interfaith marriages based on the perspective presented in Amoris Laetitia. The research employs a document analysis method to analyze documents such as Amoris Laetitia, Canon Law, and Civil Law. This method involves a careful examination of these documents to understand the Catholic Church's stance on interfaith marriages. In preparing for interfaith marriages, there are several demands placed on the couples, such as pledging to maintain their faith, striving to raise their children in the Catholic tradition, and more. Additionally, couples must be capable of addressing conflicts that may arise due to religious differences while strengthening a relationship built on mutual respect and support. From a legal perspective, both Canon Law and civil law regulate interfaith marriages, with Canon Law prohibiting interfaith marriages due to potential negative effects. However, for compelling reasons, the Church provides flexibility in conducting interfaith marriages. This research underscores the importance of thorough preparation and a clear understanding of the rights and responsibilities of couples in interfaith marriages. The Catholic Church, as stated in the document Amoris Laetitia, endeavors to promote happiness and stability in interfaith marriages while upholding Catholic values and teachings.

Abstract

The role of youth is very important in building a spirit of tolerance in society. This research aims to examine the role of youth in building a spirit of tolerance in society. The research was conducted in Matanari hamlet, Ujung Teran Village, Dairi. This research uses a qualitative case study type approach. The subjects in this research were community leaders (JM), representatives of youth leaders (BM and TSM). Data was collected using semi-structured interviews, observation and documentation, and enriched through literature review. The data was then analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model (1994). The results of this research conclude that Matanari young people play an active role in building religious tolerance in Matanari hamlet. Matanari youth have routine activities that contribute to building religious tolerance, such as merkebbas activities during village parties/events and Halal Bil Halal activities for Eid al-Fitr and New Year celebrations. This activity is carried out regularly and has been passed down from generation to generation. Every Eid al-Fitr and New Year event is held every year. In each event, religious figures from both Islam and Christianity were given the opportunity to give speeches. Apart from that, this is a form of tolerance education for teenagers (primary and junior high school age children) through involvement in these activities. The role of support from parents/community figures is very important in these activities. This research is still very limited in terms of time, depth of material, and coverage of the area and research respondents. Therefore, more in-depth study and research is needed in the future.
