Abstract

PT Tiga Pilar Sakato is a medium-scale manufacturing company that produces iron poles in Indonesia experiencing problems at the painting station. The problem experienced is that the painting station is in an open space so that the production process is hampered if the weather is rainy. Based on observations in the field, it was found that the posture of the workers' bodies was not ergonomic, causing the risk of complaints and musculoskeletal injuries to workers. This study uses a participatory ergonomics method, namely active participation from employees at all levels to implement ergonomics programs in the workplace, in this study developing the application of participatory ergonomics in the workstation design process with a design thinking approach through Focus Group Discussion (FGD). The research flow begins with (1) Preparation stage (2) Observation stage and initial data collection (field study) (3) Evaluation stage of existing work stations with participatory ergonomics (4) Workstation redesign stage (5) Analysis stage and (6) Conclusion and suggestion stage. This study produced a selected design proposal with a spray booth concept that has an operator room with an ergonomic work chair, automatic spray gun, boiler heater to help speed up paint drying and a roller machine to make it easier to rotate the pole when painting. At the design simulation stage, it was seen that the existing ergonomic hazard potential check got a total value of 14 "Dangerous" (Value> 7), after the simulation was carried out for the selected design proposal results, it got a total value of 2 "Safe workplace conditions" (Value <2). This shows that the selected design proposal can reduce musculoskeletal disorder complaints for workers. This study also shows that the participatory ergonomics method based on resource, process and result criteria gets an average value of 4.75 "Good" in the workstation design process. Abstract

Occupational safety and health have a major role in organizations. Occupational safety and health (K3) is a supporting factor for the productivity of an organization. One of the activities with potential danger is in the laboratory which can endanger practitioners during the teaching and learning process due to non-compliance with occupational safety and health (K3) procedures. Such as welding a work object without wearing glasses, thereby potentially being exposed to flames. The plate fabrication design laboratory majoring in mechanical engineering education has many activities carried out, namely cutting workpieces, welding, soldering, etc. Therefore, as an effort to eliminate the risk of work accidents in the laboratory, job safety analysis (JSA) is implemented. The implementation of JSA gives workers a sense of security when working because they can know the dangers that exist in a job so they can take control measures and increase awareness of the importance of K3. Increasing K3 knowledge using Job Safety Analysis (JSA) plays a role in eliminating dangers in the workplace so that work accidents can be prevented. The research results show that the greatest priority risks are in the cutting and welding process, such as injuries caused by sharp objects, exposure to heat, and the presence of sparks. So risk mitigation is needed so that practicum implementation remains safe and efficient.

Abstract

The rubber industry is an important sector that processes, produces, and utilizes products made from rubber materials, with natural rubber sap as the primary raw material. The industry faces challenges such as mismatched rubber receipt data, which affects production targets due to supply chain disruptions. This study aims to implement Lean Supply Chain at PT A and estimate the efficiency of its application in meeting production goals. The research applies Lean Supply Chain principles to identify and eliminate waste in the supply chain of PT A, from harvesting to storage, using Value Stream Mapping (VSM). The identified waste includes environmental impact, product defects, waiting times, underutilized talent, transportation inefficiencies, excessive movement, and over-processing. Root causes of waste are analyzed using Fishbone Diagrams and the 5 Whys method, followed by corrective actions that align with the identified root causes. The activity mapping process resulted in a 3% increase in production efficiency for Ribbed Smoked Sheet (RSS). Furthermore, Lean Supply Chain implementation reduced rubber processing time from 8 days to 5 days, as per VSM analysis. This study provides valuable insights into how Lean Supply Chain can enhance efficiency and production in the rubber industry.

Abstract

This study aims to design a decision support system in determining drug procurement priorities at Endar Farma Pharmacy using the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) method. This method was chosen because of its ability to break down complex problems into a hierarchical structure consisting of objectives, criteria, and alternatives. Data collection was carried out through observation, interviews, documentation studies, and pairwise comparison questionnaires. The five main criteria used in the analysis were the level of drug demand (weight: 0.485), profit (0.227), order lead time (0.089), expiration risk (0.057), and stock availability (0.143). Meanwhile, the alternative drugs evaluated included Paracetamol, Amoxicillin, Metformin, Omeprazole, and Ibuprofen. The results of the AHP synthesis showed that Amoxicillin obtained the highest priority score of 0.295, followed by Paracetamol (0.291), Omeprazole (0.290), Ibuprofen (0.271), and Metformin (0.188). The entire calculation process meets the consistency ratio (CR) < 0.1, indicating that the assessment results are consistent and reliable. The application of the AHP method in this decision support system has been proven to be able to produce more objective and structured recommendations, increase the efficiency of drug logistics management, and help pharmacies reduce the risk of excess and shortage of inventory.

Abstract

The joining of ASTM A36 carbon steel plates using the Shield Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) technique is influenced by the tensile strength and hardness of the joint. To improve the quality of ASTM A36 carbon steel plate joints in the future, prediction methods are used. The prediction results play a significant role in determining the quality of the material connection. The method used in this research was descriptive quantitative, by predicting linear regression and non-linear (quadratic) regression models. The purpose of the discussion in this article was to determine the best prediction model for current variations on the tensile strength of future material connections. The analysis of the correlation coefficient showed a strong relationship in both models discussed. This indicates that the current strength variable had a strong relationship with tensile strength. Meanwhile, the highest R-square score was obtained in the non-linear regression model. The determination of the best prediction method was found in the non-linear regression model on tensile strength, with a MAPE value of 3.57%. These results indicate that the non-linear regression model better describes the relationship between current strength and tensile strength in ASTM A 36 carbon steel plate joining.

Abstract

Workplace accidents remain a significant concern in small and medium enterprises (SMEs), particularly in sectors with high physical labor intensity such as automotive repair workshops. This study aims to identify and assess occupational hazards in CV XYZ, a medium-sized workshop specializing in engine and body repair, using the Structured What-If Technique (SWIFT). Through field observations, interviews, and questionnaires, data were collected on potential hazards during major work processes. The SWIFT method was applied to examine risks based on frequency and severity, culminating in a Risk Rating Number (RRN) for each hazard. The study found 23 hazards in engine repair activities and 20 in body repair, with six identified as top-priority risks (RRN = 10). These included crush injuries, lacerations, and unsafe working postures. Recommendations were proposed to reduce risk levels, including the use of ergonomic tools, implementation of personal protective equipment (PPE), safety training, and workplace layout improvements. The findings underscore the effectiveness of the SWIFT method in fostering participatory risk assessment and enhancing safety awareness in SMEs. This approach provides a practical model for similar workshops aiming to improve their occupational safety and health (OSH) performance systematically.

Abstract

CIN operates in the cultivation and processing of Crude Palm Oil (CPO) at the Kedukul Palm Oil Mill (PKS), which includes six main processing stations: Rame Loading, Boiling (Sterilizer), Bantingan (Tresher), Pressing, Palm Kernel, and Clarification. This study aims to identify potential hazards that may lead to occupational accidents in the CPO processing area, assess the associated risk levels, and propose mitigation strategies to reduce critical risks. The research employs Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA) alongside Job Safety Analysis (JSA) to systematically evaluate work activities across stations. Results indicate that the Boiling Station carries the highest total risk score of 45, followed by the Pressing Station (39), Rame Loading (37), Bantingan (31), Clarification (23), and Palm Kernel Station (20), which has the lowest risk. Recommendations focus on hierarchical risk controls, including: (1) Engineering controls such as installation of warning signage and hazard symbols; (2) PPE management by ensuring the consistent use of safety glasses, helmets, gloves, earplugs, and safety footwear; (3) Administrative controls through scheduled Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) training and dissemination of safety awareness among workers; (4) Substitution controls by regularly replacing hazardous components such as slings and truck hooks in the Boiling Station; and (5) Elimination strategies by deactivating machinery or sources with high accident potential. The integration of these measures is expected to significantly improve occupational safety performance in palm oil processing operations.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the types and root causes of plywood product defects in the production process at PT. SXX using the Six Sigma approach through DMAIC stages (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control). The main issue identified is the high defect rate of 2.9%, or 1,971 defective units out of a total production of 67,705 sheets in 2024. The critical defect types include bubbles, delamination, and core holes. This quantitative research employs tools such as Pareto diagrams, fishbone diagrams, and 5 Whys analysis to trace the root causes of defects. The results indicate that the dominant factors are improperly dried raw materials, unstable machinery, uneven glue distribution, and a lack of supervision and SOP understanding among operators. Improvements were made through the provision of MC meters, glue spreader calibration, operator training, and improvement of veneer storage environments. Post-improvement, the defect rate is targeted to drop below 2.9%. This study also supports the implementation of Green Supply Chain Management (GSCM) by promoting energy efficiency and reducing production waste, thereby contributing to the improvement of product quality and competitiveness.

Abstract

The participation of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Indonesia’s industrial supply chains remains critically low, accounting for only 6.3% of the total 65.5 million MSMEs. This condition highlights the urgency of implementing strategic measures to enhance their integration into the national industrial ecosystem. This study aims to examine the existing conditions of MSME supply chains and to develop an efficient supply chain management (SCM) model aligned with their operational capacities. The research was conducted in two phases: (1) an assessment of current supply chain practices through a survey of 25 MSMEs in the food and handicraft sectors in Batam City, and (2) the design and simulation of an SCM model involving three partner MSMEs. The findings reveal that most MSMEs lack stable supplier networks, do not employ systematic production scheduling, and have yet to adopt information technology in their operations. To address these challenges, a Hybrid Collaborative SCM (HCSM) model comprising five core components was developed. Simulation results indicate significant improvements in delivery lead times, transportation costs, production cycle times, and a reduction in stock-out frequencies, thereby demonstrating the model’s potential to enhance MSME supply chain performance

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the inventory control of Buffered Peptone Water (BPW) testing media in a food industry laboratory. The company currently applies a conventional method in managing its inventory, which often leads to inefficiencies in both ordering and holding costs. Two quantitative approaches, namely Economic Order Quantity (EOQ) and Min-Max, are compared with the company's existing method to determine the most efficient alternative. Data utilized in this study consist of annual demand, ordering cost, holding cost, and lead time. The EOQ method provides an optimal order quantity of 11 units, with a total inventory cost of Rp2.506.750, while the Min-Max method recommends maintaining inventory levels between 2 units. Compared to the company’s current approach, EOQ is proven to minimize total cost and achieve cost savings of approximately 51%. The results indicate that EOQ is more effective and can be implemented as a suitable inventory control method for laboratory operations.
