Abstract

This study aims to produce a teaching material product in the form of an RBL module for making foot sanitizer as a companion in learning science on the topic Eubacteria for class VII IPA in junior high school. In learning at school about Eubacteria, students have not been asked to create products. 21st century skills make students have superior human resources. Based on the results of interviews with class VII students, learning at school in science subjects only took notes and held the LKS book. The type of research used in this study uses the RnD method. The data were collected using non-test techniques, namely in the form of media expert validation test questionnaires, material expert validation test questionnaires, science teacher response questionnaires and student response questionnaires. Based on the results of the assessment from the media expert validator 1 obtaining a score of 80% in the "decent" category, the media expert validator 2 obtaining a result of 83% in the "very feasible" category. The results of the assessment of the material expert validator 1 were 91.6% in the "very feasible" category, the material expert validator 2 obtained 90% results in the "very feasible" category. The results of the teacher's responses obtained a value of 79.5% in the "appropriate" category and student responses obtained a value of 85.8% in the "very feasible" category. Thus the RBL (Research Based Learning) module for making natural foot sanitizer can be declared to have good or very feasible feasibility.

Abstract

This study aimed to ascertain how students' understanding of reproduction system concepts was impacted by the CLIS (Children Learning Science) learning model combined with flyer media. This was a quasi-experimental study with a non-equivalent control group design. The population consisted of students in six classes of grade XI at SMA Negeri 3 Polewali. Purposive sampling was utilized in the sampling process to obtain XI IPA 3 as a control class and XI IPA 4 as an experimental class. The instrument used to collect the data was a concept accomplishment test, including a pretest and posttest. The data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. The results showed that the t value was 5,517 and the t table was 1,668. The test results obtained were tcount > ttable (5,517 > 1,668). The test result showed that 5,517 > 1,668, tcount > ttable. As an outcome, at a significant level of 5% (= 0.05), Ha was accepted and Ho rejected. It appears that the CLIS learning model, in combination with media flyers, affects students' understanding of biological concepts related to the reproduction system. The research implication is that the CLIS learning model, combined with the flyer media expected to enhance students' conceptual understanding, can be utilized by educators and can also be used as a resource by subsequent researchers.

Abstract

This study is aimed for developing an electronic module (e-module) on the material of circulation system based on learning cycle 8e. This type of research and development used the Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation and Evaluation (ADDIE) model. The used research instruments were interview sheets and validation questionnaires. The e-module was validated by three experts and the validated aspects were included aspects of didactic, construction and technical. The obtained data were analyzed quantitatively and described descriptively. The results of the study found that the didactic aspect obtained  the highest validity value of 96.15% in the II learning material. While the construction aspect found the highest validity value in learning material III was 95.63%. In the technical aspect, the highest score was obtained in learning material III of 93.75%. Therefore, it can be concluded that the e-module circulation system based on learning cycle 8e has good quality and can be used in learning activities.

Abstract

The goal of this study was to explore the recontextualisation of knowledge in the plant biotechnology lessons at the Copperbelt university in Zambia. The study was aimed at understanding the pedagogic discourse which the biology education students experience during their training. The study used a qualitative approach to collect and analyse the data. Observation method was used to collect the data by video recording three lessons. Bernstein’s framing and classification concepts were the analytic tools in this study. Atlas ti 8 software was used to analyse the data. The study found that the framing was strong in the hierarchical rules, selection, sequencing, pacing and that the evaluation criteria and that the framing was weak in the evaluation criteria. The classification was weak (C-) in the inter-disciplinary relations, inter-discursive relations and in the intra-disciplinary relations. These findings indicate that biology education students were not adequately prepared to teach biology in secondary schools.

Abstract

This study aims to determine and record the types of warehouse pest insects found in several export grain commodities in the plant quarantine laboratory of the Makassar Agricultural Quarantine Center. Data on the types of warehouse pest insects on several grain commodities were obtained by sampling as much as 2 kg from each commodity. Grain commodities are taken in warehouses: rice, corn, green beans, coffee, and cocoa. Then take insects found on the surface or inside the grain. The types of warehouse pest insects found in grain samples were identified based on insect morphology. Then secondary data related to kinship relationships between insect species and data on optimal environmental factors for insect growth are taken from book and journal references. The number of warehouse pest insects found in several export grain commodities in the plant quarantine laboratory of BBPK Makassar is eight types. Insect pests are only found in rice, corn, and cocoa commodities. Types of insect pests found, namely Sitophilus oryzae, Sitophilus zeamais, Tribolium castaneum, Cryptolestes ferrugineus, Araecerus fasciculatus, Ahasverus advena, Ephestia kuehniella, and Sitotroga cerealella.

Abstract

This research is a type of comparative research using a quantitative approach. The study population was the population of Bandotan plants in the Kudus and Jepara regions. The organ parts taken from the plant were leaves, while the stems, roots and flowers were not extracted in this study. The extraction method used maceration and soxhletation with 96% ethanol solvent. Furthermore, to determine the total flavonoid content of Ageratum conyzoides leaf extraction results using the UV Vis Spectrophotometric method, it is known that Ageratum conyzoides leaf extract using the Soxhletation method has a higher total flavonoid content (0.32% b/v) compared to the Maceration method (0.22% b/v). The results of the total flavonoid test were then analyzed using the Mann Whitney U Test. Based on the Mann Whitney U Test shows that the value of Asymp. Sig. (2- tailed) of 0.102 > 0.05. Therefore, it can be concluded that there is no significant difference between maceration and soxhletation extraction methods on total flavonoids of Ageratum conyzoides extract.

Abstract

This study investigated aerobically COD removal and microbial dynamics during activated sludge treatment of wastewater. The 12-day experiment utilized descriptive analysis to correlate operational parameters of pH, F/M ratio, MLSS, and SVI with COD removal efficiency. Microscopic examination identified temporal shifts in abundances of bacterial flocs, flagellates, ciliates, and rotifers. COD removal declined from 79% on day 0 to 4% by day 12, corresponding with increased SVI and protozoan proliferation. High SVI caused biomass washout, reducing bacterial catabolic capacity. Predominance of bacterivorous protozoa and rotifers likely suppressed floc-forming bacteria responsible for COD biodegradation. Conserving balanced mixed communities through optimized operational conditions appears decisive for continuous treatment performance. This study provides comprehensions on microbial ecological interactions altering temporal variability in activated sludge COD removal.

Abstract

This needs analysis aims to determine the teaching materials required by teachers on the circulatory system to improve students' critical thinking and collaboration skills at MTs Al Ittifaqiah. This research used a quantitative descriptive study; the research sample consisted of 80 class VIII MTs students and three science teachers. The instruments used are teacher and student questionnaires and documentation. The result analysis of student needs includes (1) teaching materials used (2) teaching materials that students like (3) learning methods used by teachers (4) complex material (5) learning outcomes and (6) developed 21st-century skills. The only teaching materials used by teachers are textbooks from publishers. The result of this research found that teachers at MTs Al Ittifaqiah need to learn video teaching materials based on the PBL model on the circulatory system to improve critical thinking and collaboration skills.
