Abstract

Polyphosphate is a straight chain biopolymer consisting of tens to hundreds of phosphate residues that are linked by high energy phosphoanhydride bonds, polyphosphate plays an important role in the bioremediation process of uranium waste, especially in the process of uranium metal precipitation in bacterial cells. Some bacteria are known to have the potential to interact with uranium through redox transformation and bioprecipitation by releasing inorganic phosphate to bind uranium in the environment. Inorganic phosphate results from degradation of polyphosphates that accumulate in cells. This study aims to determine the ability of uranium-tolerant bacteria to accumulate polyphosphates during their growth phase. Measurements were made in 5 growth phases, namely the lag phase, the logarithmic phase, the beginning of the stationary phase, the stationary phase, and the stationary end. Quantitative analysis of polyphosphate accumulations was carried out using the Olsen & Dean method. The test results are known that the uranium-tolerant bacterial isolat is able to accumulate the most optimal polyphosphate in the stationary phase, especially at the 48th hour and the lowest polyP accumulation is found in the initial stationary phase at the 24th hour.

Abstract

Ipomoea reptans Poir. (Convolvulaceae) is one of the favorite vegetables consumed by Indonesian citizens. However, the plant is commonly infected by white pustule symptom of particular pathogen on it’s leaves. The pustule known as white blister, is common disease in I. reptans Poir. leaves in Indonesia. Even so, till time, there was no microscopic description of this pathogen ever provided in previous reports in Indonesia. This study aimed to provide the biological information on the morphological and microscopic characteristics of the certain pathogen. The result revealed that the microorganism was Albugo ipomeae-aquaticae Sawada with brief characteristics in the following result.

Abstract

Kayeli Bay is a water in Buru Regency which has very important value in terms of ecological and economic functions. During its development, the ecosystem in Kayeli Bay bears the burden of pollution, especially heavy metal mercury as a result of the people's gold mining on Buru Island which uses Hg to get pure gold. Hg can accumulate in the environment, especially deposited in the sediments in Kayeli Bay waters. Mangrove plants that generally grow in estuary and coastal environments are a place for sediment accumulation. This plant has the ability to absorb and accumulate heavy metals, one of which is R. mucronata. This study aims to analyze the concentration of heavy metal Hg in mangroves of R. mucronata and sediments, and to analyze the bioaccumulation of heavy metal Hg in R. mucronata in Kayeli Bay, Buru Regency. Samples were taken from 3 stations, namely the Anahoni River Estuary (Station I), the Wailata River Estuary (II Station) and the Waeapo River Estuary (III Station). Each station has 2 sampling points (replicates). Determination of the concentration of Hg metal in the sample using the CV AAS method. The average value of Hg concentration in the roots was higher than the bark and leaves of the mangrove R. mucronata, but the concentration was lower than the sediment and was still below the critical value of Hg for plants. The average value of sediment Hg concentration is still below the sediment quality standard. In this study, R. mucronata mangroves were excluder and phytostabilized, where there was a limitation on the absorption of heavy metal Hg from water and sediment and the most Hg accumulation was found in the roots. Abstract

Komunitas gastropoda merupakan komponen yang penting dalam rantai makanan di padang lamun, dimana gastropoda merupakan hewan dasar pemakan detritus (detritus feeder). Penelitian keanekaragaman gastropoda pada habitat lamun di perairan Desa Tayando Yamtel Kecamatan Tam Kota Tual, dilakukan pada bulan Maret-Mei 2018, dengan menggunakan metode transek linier kuadran. Hasil pengukuran parameter lingkungan di perairan Tayando Yamtel yaitu: nilai rata-rata pH 8,55; DO 6,59 µg/l; salinitas 32,36 ‰; suhu 29 °C; TDS 24,7 mg/l; kecepatan arus (0,42 m/dtk) tergolong dalam arus rendah; dan kedalaman 1,5 m. Hasil penelitian gastropoda diperoleh 862 individu yang terdiri atas 15 famili dan 30 spesies gastropoda, sedangkan untuk lamun diperoleh 3 spesies yaitu Cymodocea rotundata, Cymodocea serrulata dan Thalassia hemprichii. Nilai komposisi dan kepadatan gastropoda yang tertinggi pada stasiun I didominasi oleh spesies Psedeovertagus aluco yaitu 62,73 % dan 3,708 (ind/m2), sedangkan pada stasiun II yaitu 28,01 % dan 0,93 (ind/m2) dan stasiun III yaitu 38,46 % dan 0,15 (ind/m2) didominasi oleh spesies Strombus gibberulus. Berdasarkan nilai indeks ekologi gastropoda, nilai indeks keanekaragaman dan keserasian spesies termasuk dalam kategori sedang dan nilai indeks dominansi dalam kategori rendah.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui (1) perbedaan hasil belajar IPA siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 3 Leihitu yang diajar dengan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe TPS dan TSTS, (2) perbedaan hasil belajar IPA siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 3 Leihitu yang bergaya kognitif FI dan FD, (3) perbedaan hasil belajar IPA siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 3 Leihitu yang bergaya kognitif FI yang diajar dengan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe TPS dan TSTS, (4) perbedaan hasil belajar IPA siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 3 Leihitu yang bergaya kognitif FD yang diajar dengan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe TPS dan TSTS, (5) perbedaan hasil belajar IPA siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 3 Leihitu yang bergaya kognitif FI dan FD yang diajar dengan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe TPS, dan (6) perbedaan hasil belajar IPA siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 3 Leihitu yang bergaya kognitif FI dan FD yang diajar dengan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe TSTS. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian eksperimen semu. Variabel dalam penelitian ini berupa variabel bebas yaitu model pembelajaran yang terdiri dari model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe think pair share (TPS) dan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe two stay two stray (TSTS) dan variabel terikat yaitu hasil belajar IPA siswa. Data dikumpulkan melalui 40 sampel yang terpilih dengan teknik cluster random sampling. Penelitian menggunakan dua perlakuan yang berbeda yaitu kelas eksperimen I diajar dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe TPS sedangkan kelas eksperimen II diajar menggunakan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe TSTS. Setiap kelas eksperimen masing-masing berjumlah 20 siswa yang terdiri dari 10 siswa yang memiliki gaya kognitif FI dan 10 siswa yang memiliki gaya kognitif FD. Instrumen dalam penelitian ini adalah soal tes yaitu Tes Hasil Belajar dan tes gaya kognitif (GEFT). Data dianalisis dengan analisis statistik deskriptif dan analisis statistik inferensial. Untuk menguji hipotesis dilakukan dengan uji-t dan analisis regresi dengan bantuan software SPSS 23. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: (1) ada perbedaan hasil belajar IPA antara siswa yang diajar dengan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe (TPS) dan siswa yang diajar dengan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe (TSTS), (2) ada perbedaan hasil belajar IPA antara siswa yang bergaya kognitif FI dan siswa yang bergaya kognitif FD, (3) ada perbedaan hasil belajar IPA antara siswa yang bergaya kognitif FI yang diajar dengan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe TPS dan siswa bergaya kognitif FI yang diajar dengan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe TSTS, (4) tidak ada perbedaan hasil belajar IPA antara siswa yang bergaya kognitif FD yang diajar dengan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe TPS dan siswa bergaya kognitif FD yang diajar dengan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe TSTS, (5) ada perbedaan hasil belajar IPA siswa yang bergaya kognitif FI dan FD yang diajar dengan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe TPS, dan (6) ada perbedaan hasil belajar IPA siswa yang bergaya kognitif FI dan FD yang diajar dengan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe TSTS.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of giving EM-4 to tofu liquid waste on the growth of red chilli (Capsicum annuum L.) and to determine how much influence the application of EM-4 to tofu wastewater on the growth of red chili plants. This type of research is a field experiment research using a quantitative descriptive approach to test the effect of EM-4 on tofu liquid waste on the growth of red chili plants. The research was conducted for two months. The results showed that descriptively there was an effect of giving EM-4 to tofu liquid waste on the growth of red chili plants, namely in the treatment of giving EM-4 to tofu liquid waste by 2% (V1) the average gave the highest yield on all parameters observed, among others, plant height 40.9 cm, stem diameter 0.46 cm, and the number of leaves 68 leaves. The magnitude of the effect of giving EM-4 to tofu liquid waste on the growth of red chili plants based on analysis of variance did not have a significant effect on plant height because the F value of the group (0.61) < Ftable (5.14) and the F value of the treatment (1.23) ) < Ftable (4.76) at a significant level of 5%. The stem diameter also did not have a significant effect because the value of the Fcount of the group (0.50)

Abstract

Suli in Baguala Bay, Central Maluku Regency has waters with various types of substrates, namely sandy, muddy and rocky which are rich in benthic organisms. One of them is the gastropod type Nerita sp which is widely used by the population for food needs. The existence of gastropods, especially Nerita sp needs to be maintained and preserved so that the diversity and density of Nerita sp can be maintained and well maintained. This study aims to determine the type and density of Nerita sp. In the coastal waters of Suli, Baguala Bay, Central Maluku district. This research is a descriptive study, namely research to reveal information about the density of Nerita sp in the coastal waters of Suli Baguala Bay, Central Maluku district which is presented in the form of tables and numbers and the research was conducted in July 2019. Based on the description of the morphology of Nerita sp. from the land of Suli, including the species Nerita chamaeleon. The total number of Nerita chamaeleon found was 566 individuals with a density value of 11.32 and categorized as having sufficient density. Abstract

Siput gonggong merupakan biota sesil yang hidup relatif menetap di dasar perairan, seperti di padang lamun. Kepadatan siput gonggong dapat dilihat dari luasnya daerah dan jumlah individu, sedangkan pola distribusi memerlukan data jumlah individu dari tiap plot. sehingga keadaan fisik dan kimia lingkungan mempengaruhi nilai kepadatan siput gonggong. Parameter sifat fisik kimia lingkungan ialah suhu, pH, salinitas dan jumlah oksigen terlarut. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat hubungan antara faktor fisik kimia lingkungan terhadap nilai kepadatan dan pola distribusi siput gonggong di pantai Desa Suli, Maluku Tengah. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada bulan Juli 2019 dengan pengambilan sampel secara purosive sampling dan melakukan uji korelasi untuk menyatakan hubungannya. Penelitian ini memperoleh hasil bahwa terdapat tiga jenis siput gonggong dengan nilai kepadatannya yang realtif rendah, yaitu 0,083 ind/m3, dan pola distribusi yang mengelompok. Nilai kepadatan siput gonggong yang rendah disebabkan oleh faktor fisik kimia lingkungan yang kurang sesuai untuk keberlangsungan hidup siput gonggong dan pemanfaatan siput gonggong oleh masyarakat sekitar. Kata kunci : Siput Gonggong, Kepadatan, Pola Distribusi, Suhu, pH, Salinitas, Oksigen Terlarut.

Abstract

Pollinator insects is an animal that moves pollen from the male anther of a flower to the female stigma of a flower. The purpose of this study was to determine the diversity of insects pollinators in the pineapple (Ananas comosus (L.) Merr.) plantation of Bincau Village, Martapura District, Banjar Regency, South Kalimantan. Sampling was done by purposive sampling using a yellow sticky trap. The customer observations are made in visual control. Observation starts at 07.00-18.00 WITA which is divided into 3 time periods, namely: 07.00-10.00 WITA, 11.00-14.00 WITA and 15.00-18.00 WITA. The data obtained were analyzed using the diversity index Shannon-Wiener (H'). The results showed that the total individual of pollinator insects in pineapple plantations was 517 individuals, consisting of 4 order and 8 family. The highest abundance of insects is dominated by the Formicidae Family, while the lowest abundance is the Syrpidae Family. Value insect pollinator diversity found among the sites that H' = 1.760 which indicates that the level of diversity of insect pollinators on plantations Pineapple (Ananas comosus (L.) Merr.) in the Bincau Village, Martapura District, Banjar Region, South Kalimantan in the medium category. Keywords: Diversity, Pollinator Insects, Pineapple, Bincau District

Abstract

Paparan sinar matahari langsung dalam waktu yang lama dapat menyebabkan berbagai gangguan kesehatan. Sunscreen atau tabir surya dapat mencegah masuknya sinar matahari langsung ke dalam kulit, namun masih banyak masyarakat yang awam tentang pentingnya penggunaan tabir surya. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui pemahaman mahasiswa terhadap pentingnya penggunaan tabir surya. Penelitian ini berupa survei yang dilakukan di prodi Pendidikan Biologi UIN Walisongo Semarang dari berbagai angkatan. Instrumen penelitian berupa angket. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa mahasiswa telah paham akan pentingnya penggunaan tabir surya, namun mereka lebih memilih menggunakan pakaian tertutup dari pada menggunakan tabir surya.
