Abstract

Karamunting plant (Melastoma malabathricum) contains ethonol which is able to inhibit the growth of gram-negative bacteria such as Escherichia coli, S. aureus, S. sonnei, C. jejuni, E. colaceae and P. aeruginosa. This study is an experimental study that aims to compare the adaptability of Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli bacteria by providing concentrations of karamunting leaf extract 20% 40%, 60%, and 80% within 24 hours, 48 hours and 72 hours. The results showed that the positive and negative control treatments were not able to inhibit the growth of Escherichia coli and bacteria Staphlococcus aureus. Karamunting leaf extract (Malastoma malabathrium) has similarities that are effective in inhibiting the bacteria Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli bacteria with a concentration of 60%. In addition, there are differences in adaptability between Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli bacteria. bacteria are Staphylococcus aureus more adaptable than Escherichia coli bacteria, because they produce a smaller inhibition zone than Escherichia coli bacteria. Keywords: Karamunting, Escherichia coli, Staphlococus aureus, Adaptation

Abstract

Biology learning carried out at SMPN 1 Air Buaya is indicated to be less effective because it is still teacher centered learning. This is indicated by the low motivation and student learning outcomes. One of the student-centered cooperative learning models is the co-op co-op type of learning model. This classroom action research aims to improve the motivation and learning outcomes of class VIII students through the application of the co-op co-op learning model on the respiratory system material in humans. This research is carried out in 2 cycles, where each cycle goes through the stages of planning, implementing, observing, and reflecting. The results showed that the co-op co-op learning model was able to improve student learning outcomes, namely as many as 89.4% of students and the average achievement of student motivation was 82.7%. Referring to the results of the study, classroom teachers should be more intensive in applying the co-op co-op learning model to other biology learning subjects. Keywords: co-op co-op, biology learning, motivation, learning outcomes

Abstract

This observation aims to determine the effectiveness of using TL lamps in acrylic culture containers and acrylic culture containers that do not use TL lamps on the growth of Tetraselmis sp. With a culture volume of 400 liters with the same organic technical fertilizer. The observation results showed the effectiveness of using the lamp in the culture container, there was a difference in the increase in cell density in the two culture containers where the C5 culture container using a TL lamp in the culture container had the highest/peak density of 152 x 104 cells/ml on the third culture day. However, on the fourth and fifth day it has begun to enter a decline phase and even reaches the death phase. Meanwhile, in the C6 culture container that did not use a TL lamp in the culture container, the peak density occurred on the second day with a density of 145 x 104 cells/ml, but in the C6 container, it experienced a decreasing phase until the death phase occurred on the third to fifth day. Keywords: Effectiveness, Growth, Tetraselmis sp
