Abstract

Breast cancer is one of the major health problems that not only affects adult women but also increasingly threatens the adolescent population. Limited knowledge regarding risk factors, signs and symptoms, as well as preventive efforts makes adolescents a vulnerable group. This study aims to describe the level of knowledge about breast cancer among students at SMAN 1 Jasinga. This research employed a cross-sectional design with a descriptive approach. The sample included all students who met the inclusion criteria using a total sampling technique, with 290 respondents in total. The research instrument was a questionnaire tested for validity and reliability, with knowledge levels categorized into good, fair, and poor. The results showed that 52.8% of respondents had good knowledge, 45.9% had fair knowledge, and 1.4% had poor knowledge. Good knowledge was more frequently found among female students (46.2%) compared to male students (6.6%). In addition, the majority of respondents with good knowledge were grade XII students, indicating the influence of longer learning experiences and greater exposure to health information compared to grades X and XI. In conclusion, most adolescents demonstrated a relatively good level of knowledge about breast cancer, although gaps remain in understanding risk factors, symptoms, and preventive measures. Therefore, continuous health education, particularly through schools and digital media, is essential to enhance adolescents’ awareness of early detection of breast cancer.

Abstract

Background: Acute coronary syndrome (ACS) is a major cause of hospitalization andmortality. Patients with multivessel disease (MVD), especially with left main (LM)involvement, face higher risks of complications and adverse outcomes. Objective: A 55-year-old male with uncontrolled hypertension and diabetes presentedwith 16-hour chest pain. The ECG showed T-wave inversion in leads I and aVL, witha high-sensitivity troponin level of 59,480 ng/dL. He was diagnosed with high-risklateral NSTEMI.Methods: This is a case report. Coronary angiography (CAG) revealed 70% distal LMstenosis, 80% ostial stenosis with chronic total occlusion (CTO) in the proximal leftanterior descending (LAD) artery, and 80% subtotal occlusion in the left circumflex(LCx) artery. PCI was performed using drug-eluting stents in the LAD and LCx.Results: TIMI 3 flow was achieved without major complications. LM PCI was deferreddue to strategic stenting in the LAD and LCx, which improved perfusion andpotentially reduced the functional significance of LM stenosis. Conclusion: This case highlights the complexity of MVD PCI and demonstrates thattargeted stenting can optimize revascularization while minimizing procedural risks.Careful post-PCI assessment is essential for long-term management.

Abstract

Abstract Background: Cephalgia is a condition where the sufferer will feel a sensation of pain in the head area which sometimes the sensation can spread to the face and neck. Factors that can trigger headaches are poor quality of sleep and stress. Objective: This study was conducted with the aim of the influence of sleep quality and stress on the incidence of headaches in high school students in Ambon City. Methods: This type of research is an analytical observational approach, cross-sectional design with a sample size of 367 and using accidental sampling techniques. The analysis used in this study is univariate and bivariate analysis using the chi-square test. Results: The results of this study obtained the majority of respondents who experienced headaches had poor sleep quality 10.90% and the majority of respondents who experienced headaches had moderate stress levels 8.45%. Based on the results of bivariate analysis using the Chi-square test showed that there was a relationship between sleep quality and headaches, with a value of (p =0.014) and the results of the Fisher test showed that there was a relationship between sleep quality and stress levels, with a value of (p =0.000). Further analysis using multivariate tests showed that stress levels were the most influential variables on headaches with a value of (p =0.000). Conclussion: Thus, this study shows the importance of the role of parents and schools in terms of rest and sleep and problems being faced both at school and at home. Abstract

Background: Premenstrual syndrome (PMS) is a common disorder among women of reproductive age that can disrupt daily activities and quality of life. Various factors, including physical activity, may influence the incidence and severity of PMS. However, limited studies focus on medical students, a group with high academic demands and potentially unbalanced physical activity. Objective: To analyze the relationship between physical activity level and the incidence and severity of PMS among female students of the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Tarumanagara. Methods: This was an analytical observational study with a cross-sectional design conducted at the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Tarumanagara, from December 2024 to February 2025. A total sampling approach was used, involving 233 female students; after exclusions, 226 respondents (aged 17–24 years) were included. Data on physical activity (IPAQ) and PMS symptoms (SPAF) were collected via questionnaires and analyzed using the chi-square test. Results: Most respondents reported engaging in light physical activity (71.2%). PMS was more frequent and severe among those with light activity (21.7% severe PMS) compared to moderate (14.0% severe) and heavy activity (4.5% severe, majority asymptomatic). Statistical analysis showed a significant relationship between physical activity level and PMS incidence and severity (p=0.004). Conclusion: Higher levels of physical activity (moderate to heavy) are associated with a reduced risk and severity of PMS symptoms among female medical students. Routine physical activity is recommended to support reproductive health.

Abstract

Introduction: Langerhans cell histiocytosis (LCH) is a rare clonal myeloid neoplasm that commonly affects the bone and skin in children. Temporal bone involvement is uncommon and often mimics chronic otitis media, which may lead to delayed diagnosis. Case Presentation: We report a 4-year-5-month-old girl who presented with persistent right ear discharge and a visible mass in the external auditory canal for four months. Physical examination revealed diffuse papular and crusted lesions on the scalp and trunk, along with frequent nocturnal urination. The patient had a previous history of right ear tumor excision and parietal craniotomy. Histopathological analysis confirmed Langerhans cell histiocytosis, supported by positive S-100 immunohistochemical staining. Imaging demonstrated a soft-tissue mass obliterating the external ear canal and a parieto-occipital lesion with osseous destruction but no intracranial extension. The patient received vincristine and prednisone chemotherapy following the LCH-IV protocol, resulting in significant clinical improvement. Conclusion: Temporal bone LCH may clinically resemble chronic ear disease. Early recognition through biopsy and immunohistochemistry is crucial for establishing the diagnosis and initiating timely systemic therapy, thereby improving long-term outcomes.

Abstract

Background: Postpartum depression (PPD) affects approximately one in seven postpartum mothers and may lead to serious complications, including impaired child growth, psychotic disorders, and infanticide if left untreated. Data regarding PPD and its associated factors in South Sulawesi Province remain limited. Objective: This study aimed to determine the relationship between maternal age, occupation, family income, education level, and religiosity among mothers with postpartum depression. Methods: This study used a quantitative cross-sectional design. A total of 62 postpartum mothers were selected using a random sampling technique. Data were analyzed using univariate and bivariate analysis. The chi-square test was applied to assess the relationship between independent variables and postpartum depression. Results: The analysis showed a significant relationship between maternal age and postpartum depression (p = 0.048). Religiosity was also significantly associated with postpartum depression (p = 0.037). No significant relationship was found between family income and postpartum depression (p = 0.731) or between education level and postpartum depression (p = 0.620). Conclusion: Maternal age and religiosity were significantly associated with postpartum depression, while education level and family income showed no significant association.
