Abstract

Biaya ransum komersil yang tinggi disebabkan harga beberapa bahan pakan terutama tepung ikan yang digunakan untuk menyusun ransum tersebut juga tinggi. Tepung ikan sebenarnya dapat diolah sendiri dengan menggunakan bahan baku lokal murah yang berasal dari hasil sampingan pemotongan ikan seperti ikan leubim (Canthidermis maculata). Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis tingkat keuntungan pemeliharaan ayam broiler yang diberi ransum komersil yang sebagian disubstitusi dengan tepung limbah ikan leubim tanpa difermentasi dan difermentasi ditambah dengan jagung dan top mix sebagai substitusi sebagian ransum komersil. Penelitian ini dilakukan di Laboratorium Lapangan Peternakan (LLP), Program Studi Peternakan, Universitas Syiah Kuala selama 35 hari. Penelitian menggunakan 100 ekor DOC ayam broiler strain MB 202. Ransum perlakuan adalah ransum komersil yang disubstitusi dengan tepung limbah ikan leubim tanpa difermentasi dan difermentasi masing-masing dengan level 6 dan 12% ditambah dengan jagung kuning masing-masing 6,3% dan 13% serta top mix 0,5%. Hasil penelitian memperlihatkan substitusi ransum komersil dengan tepung limbah ikan leubim baik tanpa difermentasi maupun difermentasi sampai 12% ditambah jagung kuning sampai 13% serta top mix 0,5% menurunkan biaya dan meningkatkan keuntungan sebesar 41,10‒64,90% dalam pemeliharaan ayam broiler dengan keuntungan paling tinggi dicapai pada penggunaan 12% tepung limbah ikan leubim difermentasi. Kata Kunci: Analisis keuntungan, Broiler, Canthidermis maculata, Fermentasi.

Abstract

The wafer packaging process is  necessary in maintaining quality during storage and transportation. This study aimed to evaluate the nutritional quality of the wafers produced by silage from various combinations of cabbage vegetable waste and rice bran which were stored using different types of packaging. This research method used factorial design (4x2) with 2 replications. The first (A) factor was the composition of the silage of cabbage and rice bran waste (A0: 100% cabbage waste; A1: 75% cabbage waste + 25% rice bran; A2: 50% cabbage waste + 50% rice bran; A3: 25% cabbage waste + 75% rice bran), while second factor (B)was the type of packaging (B0: plastic packaging; B1: gunny sack packaging). The results showed that the composition of the silage of cabbage and rice bran waste had a very significant effect (P <0.01) Dry matter, crude protein, crude fiber and BETN content of wafers produced. The type of packaging was also had a very significant effect(P <0.01) on dry matter, crude protein, and crude fiber content of the wafer and there was an interaction between materials composition of silage and types of packaging in producing wafer ash. The conclusion  of this research is that the substrate composition of 25% cabbage vegetable waste + 75% rice bran and gunny sack packaging could maintain the nutritional quality of the wafers.

Abstract

The aim of this research was to find out and examine the relationship between dry matter intake (DMI) and body weight of dry-off cows on calf performance. This research was conducted at CV. Capita Farm and Rias farmers group in Getasan, Semarang Regency, Central Java. The research material was 26 cows and 26 calves that were born. This research was conducted observationally with the observed parameters were changes in the cow's body weight and consumption of DMI for 2 weeks before parturition with data collection every week, and also calf body weight and calf body measuremnets including body length, height and chest circumference at birth. The model of the relationship between parameters was tested with a simple regression test and t-test to determine differences in birth weight between male and female calves. The results showed that the weight of the parent body and the amount of dry-off DMI cow consumption at the end of dry periode did not correlate with calf body weight and calf body size. Calf body weight was influenced by gender with males having heavier weights than birth weight of female calves. Weight of male and female calf was 40.93 and 35.91 kg, respectively. In conclusion, the body weight of the dry-off cows and DMI of the dry-off cows could not be used to estimate the birth weight and body measureents of calves.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian yaitu mengkaji kualitas mikrobiologi limbah kubis fermentasi yang ditambah vitamin dan mineral dilihat dari kandungan total bakteri, bakteri Gram positif dan negatif. Rancangan penelitian yang digunakan adalah rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) dengan 5 perlakuan dan 3 ulangan. Perlakuan terdiri dari perbedaan penambahan vitamin dan mineral sebanyak 0% (T0), 2,5% (T1), 5% (T2), 7,5% (T3); 10% (T4). Parameter penelitian adalah total bakteri, bakteri Gram positif dan negatif. Pengolahan data pada parameter total bakteri menggunakan metode deskriptif sedangkan parameter bakteri Gram positif dan negatif diolah menggunakan ANOVA non parametrik dan jika ada pengaruh yang nyata dilanjutkan uji Duncan. Hasil penelitian didapatkan jumlah bakteri meningkat dengan bertambahnya mineral dan penambahan vitamin, sedangkan bakteri Gram positif dan negatif tidak berbeda (P<0,05) antar perlakuan. Kesimpulannya, penambahan mineral dan vitamin meningkatkan jumlah bakteri pada limbah kubis fermentasi, tanpa mempengaruhi bakteri Gram positif dan negatif. Kata kunci: Bakteri, Fermentasi, Limbah kubis, Mineral, Vitamin

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji pengaruh aras starter pada fermentasi sabut kelapa terhadap Kecernaan Bahan Kering (KcBK), Kecernaan Bahan Organik (KcBO) dan Volatile Fatty Acids (VFA) dengan metode in vitro. Rancangan percobaan yang digunakan adalah Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL). Percobaan terdiri dari 4 perlakuan aras starter yaitu T0 (fermentasi sabut kelapa + 0% starter), T1 (fermentasi sabut kelapa + 2% starter), T2 (fermentasi sabut kelapa + 4% starter), dan T3 (fermentasi sabut kelapa + 6% starter) dengan 5 ulangan tiap perlakuan dan lama fermentasi 10 hari. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan sabut kelapa yang difermentasi dengan aras starter sampai 6% dapat meningkatkan (P<0,05) KcBK dan KcBO tetapi berpengaruh tidak nyata pada VFA. Rata-rata nilai KcBK dan KcBO pada perlakuan T0, T1, T2 dan T3 berturut-turut adalah KcBK 28,08%; 30,71%; 34,27%; 35,78% dan KcBO 28,73%; 31,81%; 35,21%; 36,88%. Rata-rata nilai produksi VFA pada perlakuan T0, T1, T2 dan T3 berturut-turut adalah 130 mM, 125 mM, 118 mM dan 120 mM. Simpulan penelitian adalah pemberian aras starter mampu meningkatkan KcBK dan KcBO dan produksi VFA memiliki kecenderungan menurun serta pemberian aras starter optimal pada level 4%. Kata kunci : Fermentasi, In vitro, Kecernaan, Sabut kelapa, Volatile fatty acid.

Abstract

Inseminasi buatan dikenal oleh peternak sebagai teknologi reproduksi ternak yang efektif. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui faktor-faktor yang memengaruhi keberhasilan inseminasi buatan pada sapi di Kabupaten Asahan yang dipelihara secara intensif. Metode penelitian ini adalah metode survey, menggunakan data primer dan data sekunder. Data primer diperoleh dengan cara membagikan kuesioner dan wawancara langsung ke peternak sebagai tambahan informasi, sedangkan data sekunder didapat dari inseminator terkait tentang hasil inseminasi buatan di Kabupaten Asahan. Kuesioner yang digunakan mencakup pertanyaan tentang karakteristik sapi seperti: status kebuntingan sapi (konfirmasi dari petugas inseminator), jenis sapi, umur sapi, skor kondisi tubuh sapi, jumlah inseminasi buatan sampai bunting, tanda-tanda berahi, waktu pelaksanaan inseminasi buatan, bulan pelaksanaan inseminasi buatan, lama birahi pascapartus, jenis straw, jumlah dosis inseminasi, jarak waktu pelaporan berahi sampai dengan IB dilaksanakan, pakan sapi, ternak dikandangkan serta profil peternak dengan 75 responden peternak dari lima kecamatan. Data dianalisis menggunakan stepwise regression. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dari 114 ekor ternak sapi betina yang dilakukan IB, sebanyak 76,3% mengalami kebuntingan dan 23,7% tidak mengalami kebuntingan. Variabel independen yang mempunyai korelasi paling kuat adalah umur sapi (sig. 0,006), jarak waktu pelaporan sampai IB (sig. 0,001), serta pakan ternak sapi (sig. 0,004). Kesimpulan penelitian bahwa faktor-faktor yang memengaruhi keberhasilan inseminasi buatan pada sapi di Kabupaten Asahan adalah umur sapi, jarak waktu pelaporan sampai inseminasi buatan dilaksanakan, dan pakan.  Kata kunci: Faktor keberhasilan, Inseminasi buatan, Jenis pakan, Umur sapi

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to know the population structure, natural increase, net replacement stock, and output of buffalo, as well as the holding capacity and capacity of breeders in managing the buffalo. The research was conducted in 14 villages based on the largest number of buffalo population. The material of this research was buffalo (1,802 heads) and buffalo breeders with a total of 179 respondents. The parameters measured were population structure, natural increase, net replacement rate (NRR), output, area carrying capacity and livestock ability to raise. Data were analyzed descriptively by displaying the mean and standard deviation. The results showed that the population structure was dominated by female 68.03%, natural increase 34.74%, male NRR 145.10%; female NRR 310.61%, output 16.83%. the carrying capacity of the Kuantan Tengah area was 10,685.67 ST with the ability of 45.58% breeders. Conclusion: Buffalo cattle in Central Kuantan District have high productivity and Central Kuantan District could be used as a source area for buffalo seedlings.

Abstract

The study aimed to examine the effect of herbal supplement in the form of curcuma flour on intake of total digestible nutrient, dry matter and organic matter digestibility of lactation cows. The material used was 12 lactating cows. The study used a randomized block design with 2 treatments and 6 groups based on milk production. The treatments applied were T0 = basal feed and T1 = basal feed + curcuma supplement (1% DM). The parameters observed included the amount of feed consumption and digestibility of dry matter and organic matter. The data obtained were analyzed using ANOVA. The results of this study showed that the addition of 1% curcuma supplement (1% DM) into the diets of lactating cows has no significant effect (P> 0.05) on total intake of digestible nutrient, dry matter and organic matter digestibility. The average of TDN intake in T0 and T1 were 10.61 kg and 10.67 kg on DM basis, respectively. The dry matter digestibility of T0 and T1 groups were 60.89% and 59.20%, respectively. The organic matter digestibility in T0 and T1 were 57.46% and 55.59%, respectively. The addition of curcuma supplement 1% of DM in the diet of lactating cows has not been able to increase the intake of total digestible nutrient, dry matter and organic matter digestibility.
