Abstract

Athletes have considerable freedom in altering the block spacing and block obliquity to personalize it to their convenience, they have relied on experience to develop the bock configuration of their preference. There is little research exploring this area and is therefore worthy of scrutiny. So the objective was to test if the alterations in the block-pedal angles continue their effect until the First step in a sprint start performance.2-D videography method was used to study the sprint start performance of five highly trained athletes. One-way ANOVA was used to determine the deference in lower-limb kinematics at the first contact at various block angles. The results showed no statistical difference between the kinematics of the lower limbs at the initial contact at various block-obliquities. The study concluded that there was no measurable difference in the kinematics at initial contact of highly trained athletes.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the relationship between extrinsic motivation and deviance behavior in sports, especially in young athletes. The main issue raised is how external reward-based motivations, such as financial and social recognition, can increase athletes' tendency to engage in deviant behaviors such as manipulation of match results, doping use, and non-compliance with coaches. This type of research is quantitative with a correlational approach, using a cross-sectional research design. The population in this study is young athletes from various sports in Indonesia, with a sample of 200 athletes selected purposively. The instrument used in this study is a questionnaire that measures extrinsic motivation and deviance behavior. The data collection technique was carried out through the distribution of questionnaires directly to respondents. The statistical analysis used was a multiple linear regression test to test the relationship between the free variable and the bound variable. The results showed that extrinsic motivation was significantly related to non-compliance with the coach β = 0.407, doping use β = 0.258, and manipulation of match results β = 0.315. The conclusion of this study is that extrinsic motivation, especially external pressure and social recognition, has a negative impact on athletes' behavior, so it is important for coaches and sports organizations to prioritize the development of intrinsic motivation to reduce the potential for deviance in sports.

Abstract

The coaching program in Indonesia through the Indonesian football philosophy has not been detailed in the 12-year-old children's defensive training. This study aims to identify the importance of developing a defensive training model in football for 12-year-old children. This research uses a level 1 Research and Development (R&D) method. Design validation was carried out through FGD (Focus Group Discussion) involving three practitioner experts. The results of the study showed that there were problems related to physiology, child psychology and understanding of the concept of survival. This can be seen from the data that 88% of players selected by the national team coach for naturalization have characteristics as defensive players. Through the FGD, it was agreed and validated that the development of a defensive training model is very necessary, namely in the form of a guidebook and an animated video about defensive training movements in football for 12-year-old children. This is evidenced by data that 85% of both products are very feasible to be developed. This training model is expected to produce more defenders who have an understanding of tactics and a vision of playing football, so that both products can meet the needs of Indonesian national team defenders in the future

Abstract

Physical fitness plays an important role in supporting students' cognitive and academic activities, especially in the field of sports. However, the relationship between Body Mass Index (BMI), physical fitness (VO₂ max), and academic achievement still needs to be studied further. This study aims to analyze the relationship between BMI and VO₂ max with the Cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of students of the Sports Science Study Program (IKOR) of the State University of Surabaya and compare the level of physical fitness between the 2023 and 2024 batches. This research method uses a comparative quantitative design with a cross-sectional approach, involving 187 students who were selected using the purposive sampling technique. BMI is calculated based on weight and height, while VO₂ max is measured using the Bleep Test. The data were analyzed using independent t-tests, Pearson correlation, and linear regression. The results showed that VO₂ max had a significant positive relationship with GPA (r = 0.852, p < 0.01), while BMI had a weaker positive correlation (r = 0.535, p < 0.05). There was a significant difference in VO₂ max between the 2023 and 2024 batches (p = 0.039), with the 2024 class having a higher fitness level. These findings confirm that physical fitness plays a role in academic achievement and supports the implementation of physical exercise programs in universities. Further research is suggested to explore the psychological and environmental factors that can influence these relationships. Keywords: Physical fitness, Body Mass Index, VO₂ max, Academic achievement

Abstract

Higher education plays an important role in producing superior human resources, including in the field of sports. In the midst of increasing public awareness of the importance of a healthy lifestyle and the need for sports professionals, interest in sports study programs is important to study. This study aims to analyse the level of interest, motivation, and factors that influence prospective students in choosing a sports study program. The method used was a quantitative descriptive survey with 200 respondents from various provinces in Indonesia. The results showed that 66% of respondents stated that they were very interested and 34% were interested in this study program. The main reasons behind this interest include the desire to become a professional sports teacher or coach (31.34%), personal interest in sports (23.88%), and the need for sports teachers in the region (20.40%). These findings are supported by Maslow, Holland, and Expectancy-Value theories which explain that academic choices are strongly influenced by internal motivations, social values, and perceptions of future success. This study recommends that higher education institutions strengthen their promotion strategies, curriculum development, and provision of broad career prospect information to attract more potential prospective students.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of circuit training on improving the shooting ability of SSB BMJN players. Shooting is a fundamental technique that significantly determines goal-scoring success, so effective training methods are needed to improve kicking power, accuracy, and speed. Circuit training was chosen because of its characteristic of combining several forms of physical exercise in sequence, so that it can train various fitness components at once, such as muscle strength, endurance, coordination, and power, which have a direct contribution to shooting performance. This study used an experimental method with a one-group pretest-posttest design. The subjects were SSB BMJN youth players selected based on age uniformity, playing experience, and relatively similar physical condition. A circuit training program was implemented over several weeks with structured intensity and progression. Shooting ability measurements included shot accuracy, ball speed, and shot consistency on specific targets. The results of this study showed a significant improvement in shooting ability after implementing circuit training, both in terms of accuracy and kick power. This improvement was supported by physical adaptations resulting from the repetitive and planned training load. Therefore, it can be concluded that circuit training is an effective method for improving the shooting ability of soccer players, particularly those at SSB BMJN. This method is recommended in routine training programs to optimize the performance of players' basic techniques.

Abstract

The study aimed to identify the physical condition factors that’s most influence the playing ability of sepak takraw athletes from the Nilam Raya team. Ten male athletes aged 15 to 20 were selected using a a purposive sampling technique, taking into account their active involvement in training and competitions. Data were collected through a series of tests covering leg muscle strength, body coordination, reaction speed, flexibility, and physical endurance. Furthermore, the athletes' technical abilities were measured through evaluations of their serving, passing, and smashing skills. The analysis revealed a strong correlation between body coordination and serving ability (r = 0.87), indicating that precise motor control is crucial for successful serving. Leg muscle strength significantly influenced the effectiveness of smashes (r = 0.84), which require explosive power and body stability. Meanwhile, reaction speed significantly correlated with passing accuracy (r = 0.81), demonstrating the importance of quick reflexes in responding to an opponent's play. These three physical components—coordination, leg muscle strength, and reaction speed—emerged as the dominant factors shaping sepak takraw athlete performance. These findings provide a scientific basis for coaches and sports practitioners to design more targeted and evidence-based training programs, focusing on developing physical aspects that have been shown to directly contribute to improving playing skills on the field.
