Abstract

This research was conducted with the primary objective of comparing the effectiveness of two recovery methods, namely Contrast Bath and Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS), in reducing lactic acid levels among members of the Binsik AS.SR Club after engaging in intensive physical activity. The central problem addressed in this study is the accumulation of lactic acid, which is widely recognized as a major factor contributing to fatigue, muscle soreness, and decreased performance. Previous studies have generally examined only one of these methods in isolation, which limits the scope of understanding. To overcome this gap, the present study adopted a one-group pretest-posttest design, with lactic acid levels measured both before and after treatment. The sample consisted of athletes from the club who underwent recovery sessions using both Contrast Bath and TENS. Data collection was carried out through blood lactic acid testing with a portable device, and the results were analyzed using appropriate statistical tests. Findings revealed that Contrast Bath reduced lactic acid levels by an average of 1.8 mmol/L, while TENS achieved a greater reduction of 2.3 mmol/L. Both methods were statistically significant in accelerating recovery, yet TENS demonstrated superior effectiveness. The conclusion emphasizes that both strategies can be applied as practical post-training recovery approaches, offering valuable implications for coaches and athletes in selecting suitable rehabilitation techniques. This study is expected to serve as a useful reference for the advancement of sports science, particularly in the areas of muscle recovery and fatigue management.

Abstract

The limited application of psychological aspects in sports training programs is one of the factors that causes athlete performance to be less than optimal, because training has so far focused more on physical, technical, and tactical aspects. This condition indicates a gap between the importance of psychological aspects and its application in the training process, particularly in periodization. This study aims to effect of a psychological training program integrated into training periodization on improving athlete performance. This study used an experimental method with a one-group pretest-posttest design involving 30 athletes and coaches from 10 sports branches using a purposive sampling technique. The research instrument was a closed questionnaire with 20 items administered before and after the treatment. The results showed an increase in the average score from 11.47 to 18.60 and an increase in the percentage of participants from 57% to 93%. The paired sample t-test showed a significance value of .001 (p < .05), indicating a significant effect of the treatment. Thus, a psychological training program in the periodization of training can improve the knowledge and abilities of athletes and coaches, thus becoming an alternative to support improved athlete performance.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of resistance band training and one-leg standing training on the shooting accuracy of SSB Harimau Tapanuli athletes at DR TD Pardede Stadium, Jl. Binjai KM 10.8, Purwodadi Village, Sunggal District, Deli Serdang Regency, North Sumatra. The research employed an experimental method using a one-group pretest-posttest design. The population consisted of 60 athletes, while the sample included 12 participants selected through purposive sampling based on specific criteria. Data collection was conducted using tests and measurements, including leg muscle strength tests, static balance tests, and shooting accuracy tests. The results showed an increase in all measured variables after the training program. The average leg muscle strength score increased from 39.125 in the pre-test to 52.875 in the post-test. Similarly, the average static balance score improved from 10.39 seconds to 14.88 seconds, while the average shooting accuracy score increased from 7.08 to 11.08. The regression analysis demonstrated that both leg muscle strength and static balance contributed positively to the improvement of shooting accuracy. The regression coefficient for leg muscle strength was 0.110, whereas the coefficient for static balance was 0.292, indicating that improvements in these variables can significantly enhance athletes’ shooting accuracy, both individually and simultaneously. Furthermore, the simultaneous test (F-test) revealed that the calculated F value (13.170) was greater than the F table value (4.26), with a significance value of 0.002 < 0.05. Therefore, it can be concluded that resistance band training and one-leg standing training significantly affect the shooting accuracy of SSB Harimau Tapanuli Deli Serdang athletes.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the level of anxiety among late adolescent athletes based on gender and sports category. The method used in this study is research Cross-sectional research is a type of research design in which you collect data from many different individuals at a single point in time. The population of this study was 135 people and 101 samples were obtained using accidental sampling techniques. The survey data collected, was entered into the IBM SPSS 25 tool for analysis statistics with ANOVA two-way. As a result of this study, the anxiety data for males’ totaling 64 respondents, the average age is 19.67 years, and the average anxiety level is 66.84 ± 6.47. Of the four sports categories, the order of anxiety levels from highest to lowest is the measured sports category at 69.40%; the martial arts category at 65.80%; the game sports category at 68.68%, and the lowest was in the accuracy sports category at 65.14%. and females’ there are 37 respondents with an average age of 19.08 years, with an average anxiety level of 65.35 ± 7.06. Of the four sports categories, the order of anxiety levels from highest to lowest is the measured sports category at 671.80; the martial category at 65.60%; the game sports category at 65.43%, and the lowest was in the accuracy sports category at 62.69%. Males’ anxiety levels in the accuracy, martial, and game sports categories are higher than females. However, it is inversely proportional to the category of measured sports which is that females’ anxiety levels are higher than males. Anxiety levels between categories did not differ significantly except that in the accuracy exercise category with the measured sports category there was a significant difference (p-value <0.05), in both males and females.
