Abstract

The objective of this study was to investigate the impact that playing the game "Who am I" has on the students' capacity to comprehend descriptive literature at Junior High School 30 Palembang. It was evaluated using the game "Who am I" whether or not students were successful in their enthusiasm in learning English. In order to be successful in teaching English in Indonesia, students need to be able to communicate with native speakers of the language and be aware that English is used as a second language in a number of nations. There are certain areas of the country, such as commerce and education, that serve as a conduit to other languages. The research method that was utilized in this approach was qualitative, and it utilized procedures for data gathering such as observation, interviews, and direct documentation at Junior High School 30 Palembang. The approach of playing the "Who am I" game was utilized as a result of this research. Would be able to.

Abstract

The primary focus of the research were to the implementation of the Project-Based Learning (PBL) strategy to increase students' speaking achievement and self-confidence at Universitas PGRI Palembang as the effort in promoting the tourism of Palembang city. How could Project-Based Learning strategy affect the speaking achievement and self-confidence of the students at Universitas PGRI Palembang as the effort in promoting the tourism of Palembang city. The areas of speaking that needed improvement were pronunciation, grammar, vocabulary, comprehension, and fluency. The use of project-based learning had been found to be effective in enhancing students' speaking abilities, since it fosters positive attitudes towards English language learning, particularly in speaking domains. This would allow them to deal with subjects and communicate thoughts using the suitable range and flexibility of speaking and based on the analysis of the data, the students’ speaking achievement and self-confidence of the English Education at fourth semester students at Universitas PGRI Palembang was in high level.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to find out the effectiveness of using realia media in teaching descriptive text writing of students at SMP Negeri 9 Prabumulih. The research method used in this research is experimental with pre-experimental design. The research design used one-group pretest-posttest design. The samples of this research were 30 students consisting of 17 male students and 13 female students. Data collection techniques are done by tests. Tests are given at the pretest and the posttest. The results of this research indicate that realia media was effective to use in teaching writing descriptive text to the eighth grade students’ at SMP Negeri 9 Prabumulih. After the data from the pretest and the posttest were analyzed, the average results of the pretest were 62.8 and the posttest was 74.48. This is reinforced by the t test obtained tcount> ttable which is 5.254> 1.699 based on these results indicate Ha is accepted and Ho is rejected. So it can be concluded that realia media was effective to use in teaching writing descriptive text at SMP Negeri 9 Prabumulih.

Abstract

The advent of digital technology has revolutionized various sectors, including education, by providing automated and sophisticated systems to enhance learning experiences. This study explores the effectiveness of the Spotify application as a medium to improve students' listening abilities in English. Recognizing the significance of listening as one of the four essential language skills, this research addresses the challenge students face in mastering listening due to limited vocabulary and noisy classroom environments. Utilizing a pre-experimental design with a quantitative approach, this study involved pre-test and post-test assessments of two groups: a control class and an experimental class using the Spotify application. The research instrument consisted of written tests, including fill-in and multiple-choice formats, designed to measure students' listening performance. Data collection focused on comparing pre-test and post-test scores to evaluate improvements. The findings revealed a significant enhancement in students' listening abilities after using the Spotify application, with mean scores increasing from 42.89 to 82.42, reflecting a 39.52% improvement. The t-test value further supported these results (5.72 > 2.026). The study concludes that Spotify, with its diverse features such as music discovery, personalized playlists, lyrics integration, and offline access, serves as an effective tool to engage students and improve their listening skills. This method not only addresses the difficulties students face in listening but also motivates them through an enjoyable and interactive learning process.

Abstract

This study aimed to investigate university students' perspectives regarding the implementation of classroom debating strategies to enhance speaking skills. This study employed a descriptive qualitative methodology involving the distribution of questionnaires, conducting interviews, and gathering documentation. To assess the data, the researcher employed a 5-point Likert scale, which contained twenty items in the questionnaire and five questions during the interview session. Thirty-six respondents completed a full questionnaire, while eight students participated in an interview session with detailed questions. The findings of this study indicate that university students possess favorable attitudes regarding the utilization of classroom debate strategies to enhance their speaking skills. The debate effectively motivated students to enhance their speaking skills and improve several elements of speaking, including vocabulary, pronunciation, fluency, comprehension, and grammar. University students encounter numerous hurdles in executing classroom debating strategies, including difficulties in defining the motion, articulating reasons, formulating rebuttals to opponents' arguments, structuring logical and coherent discourse, and managing uneasiness and anxiety during presentations.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to assess how well Mobile Assisted Language Learning (MALL) at SMPN 45 Palembang improves speaking abilities in English as a foreign language (EFL). Using a pre-experimental approach, the study involves a single group of students from the same class using the MALL method. This study is quantitative in nature and uses oral pre- and post-test data gathering methods in a single class of students at SMP Negeri 45 Palembang. With an average pre-test score of 61.69 and an average post-test score of 79.3, the statistical analysis and data gathering results demonstrate an improvement in English language proficiency following the implementation of MALL. These results demonstrate that MALL is a useful instrument for raising students' proficiency in speaking English as a foreign language (EFL).

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to describe the benefits of crying stone stories in fostering noble character in 4th grade students of SD Negeri 7 Muara Telang. The research method used is descriptive qualitative research method. Data collection techniques are observation, interview, and documentation. The results in this study indicate that students already know the benefits of crying stone stories and implement noble actions in their daily lives and understand the utilization of crying stone stories in fostering noble character. The conclusion that most students can understand the benefits and moral messages in the story well can be proven by increasing students' insight into noble character and significant changes in student attitudes both that it is found that students already know the benefits of crying stone stories and implement noble actions in everyday life and understand the utilization of crying stone stories in fostering noble character.

Abstract

The aim of this study is to discuss linguistic strategies in the context of procedure texts, highlighting the appropriate use of language to guide readers through the necessary steps. In this case we can find out the effectiveness of using linguistic strategies in the context of procedural texts in learning language comprehension for students at SMK Negeri 5 Palembang. The research methods used in this research were interviews and questionnaires. The research sample consisted of 29 students consisting of 15 male students and 14 female students. Data collection techniques were carried out using interviews and questionnaires. The results of this research indicate that linguistic strategies are effective for teaching understanding of procedural texts to class X students at SMK Negeri 5 Palembang.

Abstract

This research aims to develop virtual animated video-based teaching media to increase students' interest in learning and understanding in English teaching and learning activities in class VIII SMP Fitra Abdi Palembang. The method used in this research is research and development with the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). Trials using a questionnaire showed that this media was very interesting with a percentage of 91.9% according to the attractiveness criteria. The results of the pre-test and post-test conducted on 30 students showed significant improvement. In the pre-test, only 7 students achieved scores according to the criteria for completeness of learning outcomes. After learning using virtual animated videos, 28 students achieved scores above the criteria for learning completeness (70), while 2 students were still below these criteria. The overall class avera1ge increased to 79.3. It can be concluded that virtual English video animation media is effective and successful in improving student learning outcomes and their interest in the learning process.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze and determine the relationship between learning styles and personality types of the eighth grade students at SMP Muhammadiyah 3 Triyoso. Learning style is understood as an individual's preferences in gathering, processing, and remembering information, while personality type refers to consistent behavioral patterns and psychological characteristics that influence the way a person interacts with their environment.. The research method used was a descriptive qualitative study with a sample of 30 students from class VIII A. The instruments used consisted of questionnaires and interviews. The data collected was analyzed using descriptive statistical techniques and correlation analysis to identify patterns of relationships between learning styles and personality types. The research results show a significant correlation between several learning style dimensions for example visual learning styles (66%)  auditory learning styles (33%) and kinesthetic learning styles (6%) and certain personality types such as Introvert and Extrovert. These findings provide valuable insights for more personalized and effective learning approaches in the school environment. This study makes an important contribution to our understanding of how learning styles and personality types influence each other in the context of higher education. The implications of this research can be used to develop learning strategies that are more focused and based on individual uniqueness, with the aim of increasing the effectiveness of learning and teaching.
