The focus of this research is to demonstrate the influence of question-and-answer learning on students' reading interest in narrative texts. Is there an effect of question answer relationship strategy on students' reading skills in reading narrative texts? Class Vlll SMP Methodist 9 Medan is the problem in this research. This form of research is a quasi-experimental study that includes an experimental and a control group, as well as pre- and post-tests. The post-test results showed that 22 pupils (88 percent) received very high scores and 3 students (12 percent) received high scores. The experimental group's mean score was likewise raised. Prior to using the QAR technique, the mean was 67.04. The mean after learning using the QAR technique was 83.36. The median in the pre-test was 76, but after learning with the QAR approach, it was 82. Prior to treatment, the experimental group's standard deviation was 1.676. After learning by applying QAR strategy, the standard deviation in the experimental group was 2.084. Students are more engaged in reading after employing the question-and-answer learning paradigm to improve their interest. This demonstrates that the question-and-answer interaction strategy's learning effect has a significant impact on students' success in reading narrative texts

This research investigates the influence of self-regulated learning and learning attitude towards the tenth grade students’ reading ability of state SMK Negeri 8 Palembang. This study the researcher use quantitative technique and conduct utilizing a factorial design. The sample of this study are all of tenth grade students of SMK Negeri 8 Palembang that consist of 30 student for experimental group and 30 students for control group. Data collection techniques used questionnaires and tests. For the data analysis technique to find out the influence and the interaction effect used SPSS 20, The finding of this study are: (1) There are not significant influence of self-regulated learning and Learning attitude towards tenth grade students’ Reading Ability of those who have high motivation and those who have low motivation; (2) There was not significant interaction effect of Self-regulated Learning and Learning Attitude towards the students’ Reading Ability at SMK Negeri 8 Palembang.

This paper reviews about the students’ response in literary appreciation of literature class. The problem of this study was “Is the engaging response strategy able to promote literary appreciation of the fifth semester students of English Education Study Program of Faculty of Teachers Training and Education   University of PGRI Palembang?† The objective of this study was to know or to identify the ability of the fifth semester students of English Education Study Program of Faculty of Teachers Training and Education University of PGRI Palembang in applying engaging response strategy to promote literary appreciation and, to identify the development of students’ literary appreciation. The method used in this study was pre-experimental.   From the calculation of t-test, it was found out that the value of t-obtained was 4.2. It is higher than t table (1.687). It means that null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected and alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted. From the calculation, it was found out that there was a significant difference between the students who were taught by using engaging response strategy.

Readability level of marine texts do influences cadets’ ability in comprehending Maritime English reading materials. This research investigates the readability level of texts in English for Mariners, an English Maritime coursebook published by Language Competence Certification Tools for the Vocations (LCCTV) used for first-year cadets at West Sumatera Merchant Marine Polytechnic. To this end, 10 selected texts from 10 units were analysed. The Flesch-Kincaid Reading Ease was utilized as readability formula to assess the readability level of texts. The findings revealed that 10% text was categorized as extremely difficult, 30% texts were difficult, 30% texts were fairly difficult, 10% text was average, 10% text was fairly easy, and 10% text was easy to read. Thus, English for mariners coursebook is readable for cadets even though few texts are too easy to comprehend.

The purpose of this research was  to know the effect of the application of picture story dominoes (PSD) through Google classroom and reading interest towards the eighth grade students’ reading ability at junior high school 19 Palembang. Especially, the purpose of this study to determine the significant effect of the application of picture story dominoes (PSD) through Google classroom and reading interest towards the eighth grade students’ reading ability at junior high school 19 Palembang. The method of this research is a quantitative factorial design method that consists of a set of students’ reading interest questionnaires and multiple choices reading test. The result showed that the application of picture story dominoes (PSD) through Google classroom and reading interest were effective on the eighth grade students’ reading ability.

This research was aimed to investigate diary writing activity to improve the students’ writing ability at SMA PGRI 2 Palembang. The question of this study was to determine about, was there any significant difference between the students were taught by using diary writing activity and those were not. This research was conducted in SMA PGRI 2 Palembang, for the second semester 2020-2021 school year. This research could conclude that the diary writing activity to improve the students’ writing ability have a significant impact on students’ writing performance, because based on the result of the test, the students who were taught recount text through writing diary got higher scores than those who were not. From the students’ treatment process, the students in experimental group could improve their writing through diary writing. The average student’s writing performance in experimental group before and after the use of diary writing is significantly improved strategy.

The main of this study  “was there any significant effect on the Second semester students’ reading comprehension achievement after being taught by using Bilingual Story Book and those who are not? The population of  this study was the second semester PGSD Study Program FKIP University PGRI of Palembang in academic year 2019/2020. The total number of the population was 120 students, The sample consisted of 36 students of 2O and 36 students of 2Q. The method of the research was the experimental method and the data were collected through written test in multiple choice form. The test was administrated twice as the pre-test and post-test. The result were analyzed by using t-test. The students’ average score of pretest in control class of 2O were 59.20 and 6.12. While the students’ average score of post test in experimental class of 2Q were 6.52 and 7.13. And By using those result, it was found that the result of this research based on her students’ average score of post test in experimental and control class was 4.779 that is higher than its the critical value. The null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted.

The purpose of this study was to find out whether there is an influence of storytelling that can increase student learning motivation toward Eleventh Grade Students’ Listening Ability of MAN 1 Musi Banyuasin. This study was conducted using experimental research with a factorial design. The location of the research was MAN 1 Musi Banyuasin. To get the sample of research, the researcher took one class; it was class XI MIA 4. The total was 34 students. The quantitative data used in this study was taken from the students' listening ability test. The researcher used pre-test and post-test as a method to obtain relevant data. The data was analyzed by SPSS with six steps; descriptive statistics, normality test, homogeneity test, independent sample t-test, paired sample t-test, two-way analysis of variance.

The objective of this research aims to find out whether or not significant correlation between parents’ education and the parents’ involvement, parents’ education and the twelfth graders’ English achievement , parents’ involvement and the twelfth graders’ English achievement , and parents’ education parent’s involvement and the twelfth graders’ English achievement of SMAN 5 Prabumulih academic year of 2019/2020 which consisted of six classes. A quantitative method used in this research also used a stratified random sampling methods. There are two kinds of data will be analyzed. The first is questionnaire and the second is the data of documents. There was any significant influence because significant output (0,000) was lower than the mean of significant influence at 0.05 levels. It could be concluded that there were any significant influence of parents’ education and parents’ involvement toward English achievement.Â

Writing is one of the most difficult skills to be mastered by students and most of students did not have enough ability to write, in order to solve this problem the writer used one of strategy which is quick writing. The main objective of this study was to identify whether or not the use of Quick Writing strategy was effective to enhance the student writing ability. The population was Eleventh grade students of SMA Muhammadiyah Pagaralam. In taking the sample, the researcher used purposive sampling. Sixty students, involved as a participants in this study. The research design used quasi experimental. The data were collected by using writing test. The data were analyzed by using paired sample t-test and independent sample t-test. The value t-obtain was (4.765) at the significant level 0.000. Since the value of t-obtained was higher than critical value of t-table (2.001). The result showed that there was significant difference between the students who were taught by using Quick writing strategy and those were not. In short, the students who were taught by using Quick writing strategy had better improvement in their writing ability. It was effective to use quick writing strategy
