Abstract

Adolescents studying at SMAN Siwalima Ambon demonstrate distinctive developmental characteristics shaped by a boarding school education system and the school’s status as an elite institution with high academic and non-academic expectations. These conditions foster strong achievement motivation and competitiveness, while simultaneously increasing vulnerability to perfectionistic tendencies. Although adaptive perfectionism may support high achievement, maladaptive perfectionism is often associated with psychological stress, excessive self-criticism, and emotional difficulties. In this context, self-compassion is considered an important psychological resource that enables adolescents to respond more adaptively to failure and pressure. This study aimed to explore the moderating role of self-compassion in the relationship between achievement motivation and perfectionism among adolescents at SMAN Siwalima Ambon. A quantitative correlational design was employed. The participants consisted of 161 students aged 15 to 21 years. Data were collected using the M-CUP Scale to measure perfectionism (α = 0.90), the Achievement Motivation Scale (α = 0.860), and the Self-Compassion Scale (α = 0.872). Data analysis was conducted using moderated regression analysis. The results indicated that achievement motivation and self-compassion each had a significant negative effect on perfectionism. However, theU) relating to perfectionism. These findings suggest that self-compassion and achievement motivation independently contribute to lower levels of perfectionism among adolescents. The results highlight the importance of developing school-based psychological interventions and guidance programs that promote self-compassion and adaptive achievement motivation to support students’ well-being in high-demand educational settings.

Abstract

This study aims to understand the demographic characteristics and motivational factors of prospective students in choosing the Islamic Religious Education (PAI) Study Program at Universitas Islam Nusantara Al-Azhaar Lubuklinggau. The background of this research is based on the high interest of prospective students in PAI at various Islamic higher education institutions, which is largely driven by religious motivation and career orientation. This study employed a quantitative approach with a descriptive cross-sectional design. The research instrument was an online questionnaire covering demographic data, sources of information, decision-influencing factors, and 30 motivation statement items measured using a Likert scale. The respondents consisted of 35 prospective new PAI students for the 2025/2026 academic year. The results indicate that religious motivation, such as the desire to deepen religious knowledge, strengthen faith, and become a religious individual constitutes the dominant factor. Career-related factors, particularly aspirations to become religious teachers and educators in Islamic institutions, also play a significant role. Comparative analysis between students with religious and general educational backgrounds revealed no significant differences, although there was a tendency for variation in external and intrinsic factors. These findings confirm that the motivation of prospective PAI students is multidimensional, with religiosity as the dominant aspect, and contribute to the development of Islamic values-based academic and career guidance and counseling services in higher education.

Abstract

This study aimed to adapt and validate the Job Satisfaction Scale (JSS) developed by Çalışkan and KöroÄŸlu (2024) into the Indonesian context. The adaptation followed the International Test Commission (ITC) guidelines through forward–backward translation, expert review, and readability testing. The study involved 250 employees from public and private sectors across Indonesia using a quantitative ex post facto design. Data were analyzed using Cronbach’s alpha and Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA). The results showed high internal consistency for the overall scale (α = .956), with Internal Satisfaction (α = .901) and External Satisfaction (α = .925) demonstrating strong reliability. The CFA model indicated excellent fit indices (CFI = .999; RMSEA = .025), confirming the two-factor structure of the scale. These findings suggest that the Indonesian version of the JSS is a psychometrically valid and reliable instrument for assessing job satisfaction among Indonesian employees. Future studies are recommended to examine its measurement invariance across occupational and regional groups to strengthen its generalizability.

Abstract

This study examines the influence of workload on subjective well-being among young ustadz and ustadzah working in Islamic boarding schools (pesantren). Using a quantitative approach with simple linear regression analysis, this research involved 276 respondents aged 18–29 years who were actively teaching in various pesantren across Indonesia. Data were collected using validated measurement instruments, including the Satisfaction With Life Scale (SWLS), the Positive and Negative Affect Schedule (PANAS) based on Diener’s theory (2018), and a workload scale developed based on Gawron’s theory (2018). Data analysis was conducted using SPSS version 27, encompassing validity testing, reliability testing, normality testing, and Pearson product–moment correlation analysis. The results indicated that workload had a positive and significant relationship with subjective well-being (r = 0.520, p < 0.001). This finding suggests that higher workload is associated with higher levels of subjective well-being when work is perceived as meaningful and interpreted as a form of devotion. Within the pesantren context, spiritual meaning and religious values play a crucial role in transforming work pressure into a source of psychological satisfaction and happiness. These results highlight the importance of value-based work environments in shaping positive psychological outcomes. This study contributes to the development of positive psychology, particularly in enhancing the understanding of well-being within religious-based work settings.

Abstract

Global transitions toward a green economy require the younger generation to develop awareness of environmentally friendly occupations, commonly referred to as green job awareness. However, data from the 2023 Agricultural Census indicate that youth interest in the agricultural sector in Madiun Regency remains critically low, with only 1% participation among individuals aged 15–24 years. This condition highlights the urgency of developing educational strategies that align with the characteristics of Generation Z, who are widely recognized as digital natives with strong visual and technological learning preferences. This study aimed to develop and examine the effectiveness of Ethno-Cinema Education media in enhancing green job awareness among Generation Z. The research employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach using the ADDIE model, which consists of the Analyze, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation stages. The developed products comprised two educational videos: (1) a documentary video presenting local green job practices in Madiun Regency, and (2) an instructional video explaining the concepts and various types of green job professions. The effectiveness of the developed media was tested using a one-group pretest–posttest design involving 58 senior high school and vocational school students in Madiun Regency. Data were analyzed using a paired-sample t-test. The results revealed a significant difference between pre-test scores (M = 76.71; SD = 9.13) and post-test scores (M = 77.88; SD = 9.31), with a significance value of p = 0.000 (p < 0.05). These findings demonstrate that Ethno-Cinema Education media is effective in increasing students’ awareness of environmentally friendly occupations. This study contributes to the development of innovative career guidance services that integrate cultural values and digital technology in a contextual manner. The findings further suggest that an educational cinema-based approach incorporating local wisdom can serve as an effective strategy for fostering environmentally conscious career awareness among adolescents and Generation Z.

Abstract

Learning independence is an essential aspect of students’ academic development, particularly at the senior high school level, as it enables students to manage their learning processes, set goals, and take responsibility for their academic outcomes. One approach that has been widely recognized for fostering learning independence is Self-Regulated Learning (SRL), which emphasizes students’ ability to plan, monitor, and evaluate their own learning activities. This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of the application of Self-Regulated Learning techniques in improving students’ learning independence. The study was conducted at SMAN 5 Banda Aceh using a quantitative approach with a one-group pretest–posttest design. The research sample consisted of 36 senior high school students. Data were collected using questionnaires measuring learning independence and self-regulated learning, and the data were analyzed using a t-test. The results showed a significant difference between pretest scores (M = 70.31) and posttest scores (M = 77.15), with a t value of 5.127 and a significance level of 0.000 (p < 0.05). These findings indicate that the implementation of Self-Regulated Learning techniques is effective in increasing students’ learning independence. The improvement was reflected in a shift in students’ learning independence levels from low to moderate and high categories. This study provides empirical evidence that SRL can be effectively applied as a strategy within guidance and counseling services to promote students’ autonomy in learning. The findings suggest that consistent application of SRL techniques can help students develop better self-management skills, enhance motivation, and foster responsible learning behaviors that are essential for long-term academic success.

Abstract

This study explores the effectiveness of peer counselors in delivering multicultural-based counseling services within a higher education context in Indonesia. Using a convergent mixed-methods design, data were collected from 33 university students through questionnaires and semi-structured interviews with nine participants. Quantitative analysis revealed a strong positive correlation between peer counselor effectiveness and counseling outcomes (r = 0.666, p < 0.01), indicating that counselor effectiveness explains 44.4% of the variance in counseling success. The qualitative findings further identified four interrelated themes shaping effective multicultural peer counseling: counselor–client relationship, communication skills, service quality, and cultural sensitivity. Integration of both data sets demonstrated that peer counselors act not only as providers of emotional support but also as agents of inclusion, fostering trust, empathy, and intercultural understanding among students. The findings emphasize that multicultural competence particularly empathy and cultural awareness is essential for enhancing the quality and inclusiveness of peer counseling. This study contributes to the growing literature on multicultural counseling by providing empirical evidence from a non-Western, multicultural context, underscoring the importance of structured training and institutional support to sustain peer counseling as a preventive and promotive model for student mental health in higher education.

Abstract

This study examines the role of character strengths and social support in predicting psychological well-being among non-certified private university lecturers in Padang City, Indonesia. A quantitative correlational design was employed using purposive sampling with 114 lecturers who met predefined inclusion criteria. Data were collected through standardized psychological scales assessing character strengths, social support, and psychological well-being. Statistical analyses, including normality, linearity, multiple regression, and coefficient of determination tests, were performed using SPSS. The findings reveal that both character strengths and social support significantly predict psychological well-being (p < 0.001). R² = 0.813, this result indicates that these predictors jointly explain 81,3% of the variance in psychological well-being. These results underscore the importance of promoting positive character development and enhancing social support systems to improve lecturers’ psychological well-being. Future research should explore contextual and organizational factors that may influence psychological well-being within higher education settings.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the relationship between trust and stress levels in married couples. The study sample consisted of 187 husbands and wives in Titi Kuning Village, selected using purposive sampling, considering the characteristics of respondents who are married and living together as the unit of analysis relevant to the research objectives. Of these, 181 respondents met the assumption of data normality and were subsequently analyzed. Measurements of trust and stress levels were carried out using psychological scales that have been tested for validity and reliability, each consisting of 39 and 40 items. Data analysis used the Pearson Product Moment correlation method after all analytical assumptions, including normality and linearity, were met. The findings indicate a significant negative relationship between trust and stress levels, with a correlation coefficient of -0.603 and a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05). The result concludes that higher trust are associated with lower stress levels, and conversely, lower trust are correspond with higher stress levels among married couples in Titi Kuning Sub-District. The effective contribution of trust to stress, with an R-squared value of 0.364, indicates that increased trust between husband and wife contributes to reduced stress levels. Thus, trust contributes 36.4% to stress levels, with the remaining 63.6% influenced by other factors. These findings provide a theoretical contribution to the development of marital psychology studies by highlighting the role of trust as a significant psychological factor in managing marital stress. Practically, these findings suggest the importance of strengthening trust in psychological interventions and marital counseling programs to reduce stress levels in married couples.
