Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of self-efficacy on students’ learning independence in the accounting competency program at SMK Muhammadiyah Kalianda. The research employed a quantitative approach with an ex post facto research design. The research subjects were eleventh-grade students selected using a total sampling technique. Data were collected through self-efficacy and learning independence questionnaires that had been tested for validity and reliability. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive statistics and simple linear regression analysis. The results showed that students’ self-efficacy levels ranged from moderate to good, while students’ learning independence was categorized as fairly good. The regression analysis indicated that self-efficacy had a significant effect on students’ learning independence. Students with high levels of self-efficacy tend to be more confident, able to manage their learning processes independently, and more responsible for their academic tasks. These findings suggest that strengthening self-efficacy through teacher support and a positive learning environment is important for enhancing vocational students’ learning independence.

Abstract

Adolescents' use of social media has grown ubiquitous, bringing with it opportunities and threats to their emotional and mental health. The purpose of this research is to examine how teens' self-confidence is affected by their use of social media. A survey method was used to gather data from teens within a particular age range. The results show that the more time spent on social media, the lower the self-confidence level. Teens' self-esteem takes a hit when they use social media to compare themselves to others' ideals of beauty, wealth, and lifestyle. Additionally, social validation in the form of likes, comments, and follower counts influences how teenagers perceive themselves. However, this study also finds that social media can have positive effects when used wisely, such as serving as a means of self-expression and identity building. Therefore, it is crucial for teenagers to have good digital literacy and support from their social environment to utilize social media healthily without compromising their self-confidence.

Abstract

Inclusive education requires a supportive learning environment that enables students with special needs to participate, develop, and achieve optimal educational outcomes. Social support from teachers, peers, families, school counselors, and policymakers plays a critical role in strengthening students’ academic adjustment, self-efficacy, social interaction, and psychological well-being. This study aimed to identify, analyze, and synthesize previous research on social support for students with special needs in inclusive schools. A systematic literature review was conducted using the PRISMA framework to guide the identification, screening, eligibility assessment, and inclusion of relevant studies. Articles were retrieved from Google Scholar and selected based on relevance to the topic, publication period, and suitability for the research objectives. The final review included 17 relevant studies published between 2020 and 2025. Data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model, consisting of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing through critical extraction and comparison of research findings. The results indicate that social support is a key predictor of successful inclusive education. Comprehensive support from teachers, peers, and families contributes to improved learning outcomes, self-efficacy, social skills, learning motivation, academic achievement, and psychological well-being among students with special needs. Inclusive school environments also help reduce social anxiety and foster empathy, acceptance, and positive interaction between students with special needs and regular students. These findings highlight the importance of systematic, structured, and collaborative efforts involving subject teachers, guidance and counseling teachers, school policymakers, peers, and families. This study implies that inclusive schools need to strengthen cross-sector collaboration and develop sustainable support systems to create friendly, responsive, and equitable learning environments for students with diverse needs.

Abstract

Family moral values play a fundamental role in shaping altruistic behavior, particularly among Generation Z who grow up amid rapid social change and digital transformation. This study aims to examine the influence of family moral values on the formation of altruistic behavior among Generation Z. A qualitative phenomenological approach was employed, with data collected through in-depth interviews and participant observation involving individuals born between 1997 and 2012. The findings indicate that moral values such as empathy, responsibility, and solidarity are primarily internalized through parental role modeling and everyday family interactions. However, the consistency of moral practice tends to decline due to external influences, especially peer groups and social media exposure. The study highlights that while the family remains the primary foundation of moral development, explicit and open moral communication is increasingly necessary to reinforce altruistic behavior. Overall, this research affirms the enduring importance of family-based moral education in fostering socially responsible and empathetic young generations in the digital era.

Abstract

Academic grit is an important psychological factor that enables students to maintain persistence, consistency, and commitment in facing academic challenges. Students in island regions may encounter unique educational barriers, including limited access, fluctuating school engagement, and the risk of dropout, making academic grit particularly relevant to examine. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between positive thinking and academic grit among students at SMA Negeri 6 Selayar. A quantitative approach with a correlational design was employed. The participants consisted of 209 high school students selected using incidental sampling. Data were collected using psychological scales measuring positive thinking and academic grit. Data analysis was conducted using correlation testing to determine the strength and direction of the relationship between the two variables. The results showed a significant positive relationship between positive thinking and academic grit (r = 0.534; p < 0.001). This finding indicates that students with higher levels of positive thinking tend to demonstrate stronger academic grit. Positive thinking may help students interpret academic difficulties more constructively, maintain motivation, and persist in completing learning tasks despite obstacles. The findings highlight the importance of strengthening students’ positive cognitive orientation as part of efforts to enhance academic resilience and persistence. This study provides practical implications for schools, teachers, and guidance and counseling services in developing programs that foster positive thinking, learning motivation, and academic perseverance among high school students, particularly in educational contexts with geographical and social challenges.

Abstract

Infidelity is a relationship established with someone other than one's spouse. This certainly evokes various emotions in the victim. Forgiveness is a change in an individual's behavior with the aim of reducing the motivation for revenge or distancing oneself from other individuals who have hurt them. This study aims to reveal the stages of the process and factors that influence forgiveness in a wife who is a victim of her husband's infidelity but still maintains her marriage. A qualitative research method was chosen to collect data from three participants through semi-structured interviews and observation. The results show that each participant went through four stages in the forgiveness process, namely the uncovering phase, decision to forgive, work phase, and deepening phase. Although they went through the same four stages, each participant had a different way of expressing and responding to their feelings, as well as their motivation to reconcile. This study also reveals that one of the biggest factors influencing forgiveness in the three participants was their level of religiosity.

Abstract

This research is motivated by empirical findings at SMP Negeri 1 Godean, where high curriculum demands and academic expectations trigger symptoms of mental fatigue among students. Preliminary observations revealed that many students exhibited apathy and frequently engaged in non-academic activities during lessons, such as chatting or daydreaming, indicating issues with school burnout and off-task behavior. This study is crucial to empirically examine the extent to which burnout levels contribute to the frequency of student disengagement in the classroom. The research method employed is quantitative correlational with a simple linear regression design involving 200 students as samples selected through the stratified random sampling technique. Data were collected using a school burnout scale (α = 0.672) and an off-task behavior scale (α = 0.645), both of which have been tested for validity and reliability. Data analysis was performed using SPSS version 27 to test the hypothesis through the coefficient of determination (R2). The results indicate a significant influence of school burnout on off-task behavior, where an increase in academic burnout is directly proportional to the increased frequency of student withdrawal in the classroom. These findings highlight important implications for educational practice in schools, particularly in the development of preventive and intervention strategies aimed at strengthening students’ emotional regulation, academic engagement, and self-control to reduce school burnout and minimize off-task behavior.

Abstract

Social skills are essential competencies that enable students to interact effectively, build positive relationships, and adapt to social environments in school settings. However, many secondary school students experience difficulties in social interaction, such as poor communication, limited empathy, and ineffective cooperation with peers. Group counseling has been widely implemented as an intervention to address these challenges by providing structured opportunities for interaction, reflection, and social learning. This study aims to systematically review empirical research on the role of group counseling in enhancing social skills among secondary school students. A systematic literature review method was employed following the PRISMA guidelines. Relevant articles published between 2019 and 2024 were retrieved from Sinta-indexed journals, Scopus, and Google Scholar. A total of selected empirical studies were analyzed using thematic analysis. The findings indicate that group counseling interventions are effective in improving students’ communication skills, empathy, self-control, cooperation, and social adjustment. Techniques such as role-playing, group discussion, and experiential activities were identified as key components contributing to positive outcomes. This review highlights that group counseling is most effective when facilitated by competent counselors and supported by a conducive school environment. The study contributes to the counseling literature by providing an integrative synthesis of recent evidence and offers practical implications for school counselors in designing effective group counseling programs to enhance students’ social skills.
