Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model on improving students' critical thinking skills in the solar system material at Ma'had An-Ni'mah Al-Islamiyah, Phnom Penh, Cambodia. The method used was a pre-experimental design with a one-group pre-test post-test, involving 12 students as the sample. Data were collected through critical thinking tests, student response questionnaires, and documentation. The results showed a significant improvement in students’ critical thinking skills, with the average pre-test score of 30% increasing to 80% on the post-test. N-Gain analysis yielded an average of 0.837 (83.70%), with all students categorized as high. The hypothesis test revealed a t-value of -64.891 and a p-value of 0.000 (< 0.05), indicating a significant difference between pre-test and post-test scores, with an average increase of 51.417 points. Students also gave highly positive responses to the implementation of the PBL model. In conclusion, the PBL model is effective in improving students’ critical thinking skills in learning about the solar system. Abstract

This study aims to analyze the factors contributing to students' difficulties in understanding Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS) learning within the Merdeka Curriculum at SD Al-Khairaat Tondo. The research method used is qualitative descriptive, with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The research subjects consist of third-grade students and IPAS teachers.The findings indicate that students' difficulties are influenced by several factors, including limited understanding of abstract IPAS concepts, low student interest in IPAS subjects, a lack of interactive learning media, and learning strategies that are not yet fully aligned with the characteristics of the Merdeka Curriculum. In conclusion, there is a need to improve contextual learning approaches, utilize more varied media, and provide teacher training in the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum to enhance students' understanding of IPAS materials.   Keywords: IPAS, Learning Difficulties, Merdeka Curriculum, Contextual Learning, Elementary School Students.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of mature coconut water on the growth of celery plants and to identify the most effective concentration. The method used was a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with four levels of treatment, namely AB mix 15 ml, 250 ml coconut water, 300 ml coconut water, and 350 ml coconut water. The observed parameters included plant height, number of leaves, stem diameter, and chlorophyll content. The results showed, the best result for plant height observed at the 350 ml treatment (19.00 cm). However, for the number of leaves and stem diameter, the 300 ml treatment gave the best results (28.20 leaves and 1.10 cm). Chlorophyll analysis showed a significant effect on chlorophyll B and total chlorophyll, with the highest content found in specific treatment combinations. In conclusion, mature coconut water can be used as an effective natural growth regulator to enhance celery growth in a wick hydroponic system, with optimal concentrations varying depending on the growth parameter observed.   Keywords: Coconut Water, Wick Hydroponics, Celery

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effectiveness of integrating the Socio-Scientific Issues (SSI) approach and debate method in biology learning to improve students' reflective thinking skills on the topic of environmental pollution. The method used was a quasi-experimental design with a non-equivalent control group design. The research results were analyzed using N-Gain scores and an Independent Sample T-Test. The results showed a significant increase in students' reflective thinking skills after implementing the integration of SSI and debate (t = –5.857; sig. = 0.000). In conclusion, the integration of the SSI approach and debate method has a positive impact on the development of students' reflective thinking skills, especially on the topic of environmental pollution.   Keywords: Biology, Debate, Environmental pollution, Reflective thinking, SSI

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the profile of senior high school students’ critical and creative thinking skills in Biology learning as part of developing 6C competencies. The method employed was descriptive quantitative research involving 33 students of class XI.10 at SMAN 1 Karanganyar, Kebumen Regency, selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using essay tests of critical thinking skills based on Ennis’ indicators, creative thinking skills based on Torrance’s indicators, student perception questionnaires, and classroom observations. The data were analyzed descriptively using the mean score of each indicator. The results showed that the average score of students’ critical thinking skills based on the five Ennis indicators was 67.8%, categorized as moderate, while creative thinking skills based on Torrance’s indicators reached 55.56%, categorized as low. Students’ perception questionnaires indicated that both critical and creative thinking skills were in the high category with an average score of 73%. Classroom observation results supported the findings of the essay tests. In conclusion, students’ critical thinking skills in Biology learning are categorized as moderate, while their creative thinking skills are categorized as low.   Keywords: Biology, Creative Thinking, Critical Thinking, Profile, Senior High School Students.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the development of urban forest research themes in Indonesia from 2000-2024. The method used is a systematic literature review with the scholar.google.com site and VOSviewer software. The articles reviewed in the research were 150 articles. The results showed that the number of articles tended to increase from 2000 to 2024 with the highest increase occurring in 2010. The most commonly used terms in research are hutan kota and urban forests. Most of the research was conducted in the provinces of West Java, DKI Jakarta, and East JavaThe most frequently used research method was field observation, followed by survey/interview methods and field measurements. In conclusion, the most common article themes were physical and biotic with the most subthemes being biodiversity conservation, while the subthemes for which no articles were found were water management, healing, tree prices, and stakeholders.   Keywords: Urban Forests, Research, Developments, Green Open Spaces, Systematic Reviews

Abstract

This study aimed to develop a learning media in the form of a scrapbook to enhance students' learning motivation in the Islamic Religious Education subject at SDN 112, Seluma Regency. The method used is Research and Development (R&D) with the Four-D (4-D) model, which consists of four main stages: Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate. The research subjects were fifth-grade students of SDN 112 Seluma, and data were collected through observation, interviews, questionnaires, and documentation. The results show that: (1) the validity of the scrapbook media based on expert validation was 85% for media experts, 81% for material experts, and 88% for language experts, categorized as very valid; (2) the practicality of the scrapbook learning media based on student responses averaged 93%, categorized as very practical; and (3) students' interest in the scrapbook learning media averaged 89%, categorized as very high. In conclusion, the scrapbook learning media can improve the learning motivation of fifth-grade students at SDN 112 Seluma. Abstract

This study aimed to, 1) examine the effect of strengthening religious moderation on the tolerant attitudes of students at As-Syakur Islamic Boarding School in Bengkulu City; 2) examine the effect of strengthening religious moderation on students’ religious behavior. The research employed a quantitative non-experimental method with a correlational approach. Data were collected using questionnaires and analyzed through basic assumption tests, classical assumption tests, and hypothesis testing using simple linear regression with t-test and F-test. The results indicate that strengthening religious moderation has a significant effect on students’ tolerant attitudes, with a significance value of 0.027 (< 0.05). However, strengthening religious moderation does not have a significant effect on students’ religious behavior, as indicated by a significance value of 0.208 (> 0.05). In conclusion, strengthening religious moderation contributes to improving students’ tolerant attitudes but does not significantly influence their religious behavior at As-Syakur Islamic Boarding School, Bengkulu City.  Keywords: Religious Moderation, Religious Behavior, Tolerant Attitude

Abstract

This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of the hypnoteaching method in improving students’ motivation and academic achievement in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) for grade VII at SMP Negeri 2 Kota Bengkulu. The research employed a quasi-experimental method with a pretest–posttest control group design. The sample consisted of two classes, each divided into an experimental group using the hypnoteaching method and a control group using conventional methods. The results showed significant differences between the two groups, with students taught using hypnoteaching demonstrating higher learning motivation and better academic achievement. In conclusion, the hypnoteaching method is effective in creating a conducive learning environment, enhancing concentration, and fostering both intrinsic and extrinsic motivation. Therefore, this method can be an alternative innovative teaching strategy to improve the quality of PAI learning in secondary schools.   Keywords: Hypnoteaching, Learning Motivation, Academic Achievement, Islamic Religious Education

Abstract

This study aimed to identify the types of parasites, prevalence, and intensity of parasitic infections in vannamei shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei) in Teluk Mengkudu District, Serdang Bedagai Regency. The research employed a descriptive method using random sampling techniques at two traditional shrimp ponds. Shrimp samples were examined at the Zoology Laboratory, Faculty of Science and Technology, UIN Sumatera Utara. The observed organs included walking legs, swimming legs, and the tail. The results showed that three types of ectoparasites infected vannamei shrimp, namely Zoothamnium sp., Epistylis sp., and Vorticella sp. Water quality parameters indicated temperatures of 28–28.2°C, pH of 7.75–8.23, ammonia levels of 1.436–2.732 mg/L, nitrate levels of 1–1.1 mg/L, nitrite levels of 0.14–0.95 mg/L, dissolved oxygen of 0.91–3.56 mg/L, and salinity of 15.53–21.63‰. The conclusion shows that the highest prevalence was found in Zoothamnium sp. at 26%, while the highest intensity was 3.87 individuals per shrimp.   Keywords: Ectoparasite, Intensity, L. vannamei, Prevalence
