Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of numeracy puzzles on the numeracy skills of 5th grade students at Sidosari Public Elementary School through pretest and posttest results. The research method used is quantitative research with a one-group pretest-posttest pre-experimental design to measure students' numeracy skills. The population used was 22 fifth grade students. The research instrument was AKM (Minimum Competency Assessment) questions in the Teaching Campus program which included pretest and posttest. Data were analyzed using descriptive analysis, normality tests, and statistical tests to determine whether the posttest scores increased significantly compared to the pretest scores. The statistical test used was a non-parametric test because the data was not normally distributed, so it used Wilcoxon Signed Rank. The results showed that the Wilcoxon Signed Rank test showed that there was a difference between the pretest and posttest of students after using numeracy puzzles with Sig. (2-tailed) of 0.000 <0.05. It can be interpreted that H₀ is rejected and H₁ is accepted, so there is an influence of numeracy puzzles on students' numeracy abilities in grade V of Sidosari State Elementary School. In conclusion, there is a significant influence in supporting the use of puzzle-based learning methods as a way to engage students and improve their numeracy abilities, as well as contribute to broader learning in developing critical thinking and problem-solving skills.   Keywords: Numeracy Skills, Media, Numeracy Puzzle.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a valid and practical learning media product using GeoGebra for pyramids in the seventh grade of Muhammadiyah Pagaralam Junior High School in the 2024/2025 academic year. This research is a research and development (R&D) project involving 32 seventh grade students of Muhammadiyah Pagaralam Junior High School. The development model used was ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). The product developed in this study was declared valid based on validation by media experts, material experts, and language experts, with percentages of 86%, 78%, and 89%, respectively. The learning media was categorized as very feasible, feasible, and very feasible, respectively. The results of the student response questionnaire trial showed that the first one-to-one stage achieved practical criteria, the second small group stage achieved very practical criteria, and the final field test stage achieved very practical criteria. Therefore, the learning media using GeoGebra Classroom is considered valid and practical.   Keywords: Development, Learning Media, GeoGebra Classroom, Pyramids

Abstract

This study aims to optimize students' mathematical critical thinking skills through the Project Based Learning (PjBL) model and the Gallery Walk technique, tailored to students' personality types based on the Thinking and Feeling dimensions of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI). The method used is qualitative with a case study approach on eighth-grade students at a junior high school in Bangka District, Bangka Belitung Islands Province. Data were collected through personality type questionnaires, observations, mathematical critical thinking tests, and interviews, then analyzed descriptively to evaluate the development of students' critical thinking abilities. The results indicate that the implementation of PjBL and Gallery Walk is effective in enhancing mathematical critical thinking skills, particularly in the aspects of interpretation, analysis, and solution evaluation. Students with the Thinking type excel in logical reasoning and structured analysis, while those with the Feeling type stand out in communication and group collaboration. The collaboration of these two personality types enriches the discussions and solutions produced. The study concludes that recognizing students' personality types and integrating project-based learning and active techniques like Gallery Walk are crucial to creating adaptive, effective, and meaningful mathematics learning.   Keywords: Gallery Walk, Mathematical Critical Thinking Skills, MBTI, Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, Project Based Learning, Qualitative

Abstract

This study aims to determine the seismic vulnerability index using microtremor data in Parigi City. A microtremor survey was conducted at 81 sites across the city. The data were analyzed to obtain the Horizontal to Vertical Spectral Ratio (HVSR) curve and the Rayleigh wave ellipticity curve. These two curves were combined to derive the dominant frequency (f₀) and amplification factor (A₀). The Rayleigh wave ellipticity curve was used to guide the determination of the dominant frequency (f₀) and amplification factor (A₀) on the HVSR curve. The results were then used to calculate the seismic vulnerability index (Kg). The peak of the Rayleigh wave ellipticity curve (Aₑₗₗ) can assist in identifying the dominant frequency (f₀), both when the A₀ peak is clearly visible (clear peak) and when there are multiple or unclear peaks. The use of Aₑₗₗ also helps refine the determination of A₀ values, yielding more stable results. The final mapping results show that the dominant frequency values range from 0.26 Hz to 2.9 Hz, the amplification factor ranges from 1.61 to 4.77, and the seismic vulnerability index ranges from 1.47 to 113.59. Abstract

This study aims to explore high school students’ numeracy literacy skills in understanding statistical material through a descriptive qualitative approach. The research involved 25 tenth-grade students from SMA Negeri 2 Kejuruan Muda, selected purposively based on varying levels of numeracy proficiency. Data were collected using context-based diagnostic tests and semi-structured interviews, and analyzed through the stages of data reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that only a small portion of students were able to accurately interpret numerical information and relate it to real-life contexts. Students with moderate proficiency tended to rely on procedural routines without deeper conceptual understanding, while those with low proficiency exhibited misconceptions in interpreting symbols and contextual meaning. These results highlight the need for more contextual and interactive teaching strategies to help students develop meaningful and relevant understanding of statistical concepts.   Keyword: Conceptual Understanding, Contextual Teaching Model, Mathematics, Numeracy Literacy, Statistics.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze student self-efficacy where the research subjects are third semester students of Nurtanio University Bandung in the Integral Calculus course. This study uses a descriptive quantitative method where the sample is taken using a purposive sampling technique. The results of the study show that in general the majority of students in the Integral Calculus course have self-efficacy in the medium category, which is 53.33% of the total number of students with the conclusion that most of the self-efficacy in the magnitude and generality dimensions shows a medium category of 70% and 56.67% of the total number of students, while most of the students' self-efficacy in the strength dimension shows a high category of 40% of the total number of students.   Keywords : Self-Efficacy; Integral Calculus; Student

Abstract

This research aims to test the effectiveness of the collaborative problem solving learning model in terms of students' mathematical reasoning skills. The method used is pretest-posttest control group design. This study involved students in grades VII-C and VII-F of SMP Negeri 1 Natar in the 2024/2025 academic year. The findings obtained were that (1) The mathematical reasoning skills of students who follow the collaborative problem solving model increases higher than the mathematical reasoning skills of students who follow the direct learning model; (2) The proportion of students who participate in collaborative problem solving learning who have mathematical reasoning skills categorized as good is more than 60%.; and (3) the average posttest score of students exceeded the KKM. The conclusion from the findings above is that the collaborative problem solving learning model is effective in terms of mathematical reasoning skills and can be a reference for teachers or other researchers.   Keywords: Collaborative problem solving, Effective, Mathematical reasoning     skills

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis karakteristik gelombang dan swell di Selat Makassar selama tahun 2021 menggunakan model numerik SWAN beresolusi tinggi. Data angin dari GFS dan kondisi batas dari BMKG digunakan untuk simulasi gelombang signifikan, dengan resolusi spasial 0,01°. Hasil simulasi dianalisis secara deskriptif kuantitatif untuk memahami pola spasial dan temporal gelombang. Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa dinamika gelombang di Selat Makassar dipengaruhi oleh monsun barat laut dan tenggara, dengan tinggi gelombang signifikan rata-rata dalam kategori rendah (0,5–1,25 meter) selama musim barat laut, dan rendah hingga sedang (0,5–2,5 meter) selama musim tenggara. Arah swell mencerminkan pola monsun dengan kategori dominan tenang (0,1–0,5 meter). Korelasi positif antara kecepatan angin dan tinggi gelombang (koefisien korelasi 0,36) menunjukkan kontribusi angin terhadap pembentukan gelombang, meskipun faktor lain seperti arus laut turut memengaruhi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pola angin, gelombang signifikan, dan swell di Selat Makassar tahun 2021 dipengaruhi oleh dinamika monsun barat laut dan tenggara. Monsun barat laut menghasilkan angin lemah hingga sedang (2–15 knot) dengan gelombang rendah (0,5–1,25 m), sedangkan monsun tenggara menghasilkan angin lebih kuat dengan gelombang rendah hingga sedang (0,5–2,5 m). Swell didominasi kategori tenang (0,1–0,5 m) sepanjang tahun, mengikuti perubahan arah monsun. Simpulan, korelasi antara kecepatan angin dan tinggi gelombang menunjukkan hubungan lemah (r = 0,36), menandakan adanya pengaruh faktor lain seperti arus laut dan swell regional.   Kata Kunci: Gelombang Signifikan, Selat Makassar, Swell, SWAN, Monsun.
