Abstract

Farmer groups play a crucial role in supporting gender justice in Cavendish banana and coffee businesses. They focus not only on production but also on empowering women across various aspects of the business, from harvesting to coffee sorting. Programs implemented aim to improve group welfare while considering gender equality and enhancing family economic welfare. In managing these businesses, farmer groups involve local communities as laborers, creating opportunities for women to actively participate in production processes through the development of supportive infrastructure and resources. This research aims to identify the roles of men and women within the social and economic structure and their impact on gender equality in Cavendish banana and coffee activities. The research method used is literature study, gathering data from relevant books and sources. The findings indicate that the contributions of both men and women are mutually necessary. For example, the Women's Farmer Group (KWT) in coffee management requires male labor to facilitate their work, highlighting the importance of gender collaboration in enhancing business effectiveness.

Abstract

This study examines the role of women in supporting the economic wellbeing of fisher families in Malabero, Segara Bay, Bengkulu City. The focus is on women's contributions to coastal economic activities such as seafood processing, trade, and financial management. The theory used in this research is Talcott Parsons' Structural Functionalism theory with the AGIL framework (Adaptation, Goal Attainment, Integration, and Latency). The AGIL theoretical framework outlines the role of women in the family economy to maintain the balance of the family system and ensure its smooth functioning, particularly the economic functions that cannot be fully performed by the husband as the head of the household. The research method used is qualitative, involving in-depth interviews with women actively participating in household economic activities in fishing communities, as well as employing data analysis techniques such as data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The findings show that women in the Malabero coastal area play a crucial role in supporting the economic stability of fisher families. In addition to performing domestic duties as housewives, they are also involved in side businesses. This dual role not only increases family income but also maintains the social and economic stability of the fisher family.Women's empowerment has proven to be important in strengthening the economic resilience and well-being of fisher families along the coast, creating a more independent and competitive society. This study also highlights the need for further government support to enhance the capacity of coastal women in managing family fisheries economically and to strengthen their networks and access to the resources needed. As a result, the role of women in improving the income and welfare of fisher families in Malabero can be more optimal and sustainable.

Abstract

Nusa Tourism Village is a unique tourist village because this tourist village originates from the experience of the tsunami natural disaster. So that tourism practice is not only based on attractions and consumption but also contains tsunami disaster mitigation values. This research aims to analyze the integration of tourism and tsunami disaster mitigation in Gampong Nusa, Aceh Besar. The research location was carried out in the Nusa Tourism Village, Lhoknga District, Aceh Besar Regency. The research method used is qualitative with a case study approach. The research results show that there are three tourism programs that contain tsunami disaster mitigation values, namely homestays, handicrafts, and hiking, which not only provide tourism experiences but also provide education about disaster preparation and mitigation. Through folklore, personal experiences, and evacuation locations, this program combines cultural aspects, practical experiences, and learning in disaster mitigation. The concept of Community-Based Tourism (CBT) in Gampong Nusa not only emerged as a tourism strategy but also as a form of community solidarity in rebuilding villages after the tsunami disaster. The proposed new theory, namely the "integration model," highlights the active involvement of the community in supporting tourism and disaster mitigation programs, even without being directly involved in the formal tourism system.

Abstract

This study aims to identify the form of discrimination against female workers in PT AICE's policies in 2017, and to evaluate the implementation of human rights in employement practices. Using qualitative research methods by means of library research, namely research that collects information and data using various library materials such as documents, books, magazines, historical stories, and others. The results show that PT AICE has violated Labor Law No. 13 of 2003 with discriminatory policies against female workers, such as not providing nutritious food and shuttle transportation for female workers who work at night. These violations are considered a form of violence and exploitation against women workers. In addition, patriarchal culture still influences inequitable access and opportunities for women in the labor sector, which is reflected in the company's unwillingness to fulfill the rights of women workers, such as reproductive rights, health insurance during pregnancy, and rights for women workers who work at night. These findings show that there are still many human rights violations against women in the world of work.

Abstract

The fishing community of Bengkulu is well known for the lives of the poor. Poverty of fishing communities is a problem that should receive special attention and solutions so that fishing communities can survive. This research aims to determine the survival strategies of traditional fishing families in Malabero Village, whose daily work is only as traditional fishermen using small boats along with fishing gear and nets. This research will be conducted in Malabero Village, Teluk Segara District, Bengkulu City using a descriptive approach. The technique for determining informants used was purposive sampling, and the data collection techniques used were observation, interviews and documentation. The data analysis techniques used are according to Milles and Huberman, namely data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of this research describe forms of active survival strategies for traditional fishing families, including mutual cooperation, making maximum use of natural resources by going to sea, and doing small-scale sales to help meet the family's needs. Even though fishermen's lives experience many obstacles and challenges, using these active strategies can help them meet their needs for survival. The emergence of these strategies is due to challenges and obstacles such as climate and weather changes, lack of technology and fishing equipment, and the relatively cheap price of fish on the market.
