Abstract

The Indonesian Government's policy during the covid-19 pandemic is Learning from home. This policy indirectly familiarizes students with various personality types to use gadget communication media. This study analyzes the use of gadgets while learning from home between extroverted and introverted personality types in elementary school. The research was conducted by case study and the type of research is descriptive. The research instruments are interviews, observation, and documentation. The subjects are 2 extroverted and 2 introverted elementary students as key informants. Data from interviews and observations were analysed qualitatively. The results showed that both extroverted and introverted students used gadgets with duration of more than 3 hours (high duration). Activities carried out according to the direction of each school are reading, doing, collecting assignments, and looking for supporting reference sources. Both personality types also use smartphones for social media, browsing favourite topics, and online games. Both have in common not being able to manage time well. The difference is that introverted students have not been able to manage time because they cannot make decisions for themselves. Meanwhile, extroverted students have not been able to manage time because there are more online games and social media. Both personality types require good mentoring.

Abstract

The problem that often occurs during lectures is the mismatch of time from the supervisor's response which becomes a very difficult challenge for students in doing their final project/thesis. The purpose of this study was to analyze the supervisor's response time in conducting thesis guidance using Elista which was differentiated based on years of service. This research is a mixed method research with explanatory design, where quantitative data is strengthened by qualitative data. The population in this study were lecturers with a sample selection technique using purposive sampling technique with the sample criteria being lecturers who had become student thesis supervisors so that a sample of 1270 lecturers was obtained which was grouped into 4 work intervals, namely 1-10 years, 11-20 years. years, 21-30 years, and 31-40 years. Data collection in this study was obtained through the Elista database regarding the supervisor's response time and through interviews with lecturers from each working period. Analysis of quantitative data using descriptive analysis and qualitative data using analysis of Miles and Huberman. The results showed that lecturers with 1-10 years of service and 11-20 years had better guidance response times than lecturers with longer tenures because lecturers with 1-10 years of service were more productive in using technology and strongly supported the fast response of supervisors. The implication of this research is that to speed up the travel time of student graduation, a good response from the supervisor is needed, where this response can also be distinguished by the tenure of the lecturer.

Abstract

The difficulty of elementary school students in solving simple fractions is because students fail to understand the concept of simple fractions. PowToon's multimedia integration of the constructivist approach is great for facilitating the conception of simple fractions. The purpose of this study was to analyze constructivist-based PowToon animation multimedia (CoPAM) as a valid, practical, and effective learning medium for simple fractions. PowToon was developed using a research and development (R&D) method with a define, design, and development (3-D) model involving 12 fourth grade elementary school students. The data analysis used was descriptive analysis with data collection methods using observation, tests (pre-test and post-test), validation questionnaires (validation of media and material experts, teacher responses, and student responses), and documentation. The results showed that CoPAM had very feasible product criteria in terms of validity, practicality, and effectiveness to facilitate elementary school students in understanding simple fractions. Recommendations for the next study are needed to further develop and test CoPAM products or the like (could go through the dissemination stage) by involving a larger and wider number of participants by testing inferential statistics.

Abstract

The learner guided study is innovative learning activity planned by a group of teachers considered better than those made by the individual teacher. However, its effectiveness in retaining the students learning is still dubious since there is no apparent connection between students' learning variety and needs. The aim of this study is to analyze the effectiveness of the learner-guided study in improving students’ analytical exposition writing competence. The participants were thirty high school students in grade eleventh. They often encountered difficulties in mastering analytical exposition due to the lack of specific practices. The data analysis was carried out using a mixed-method design. They were gathered from the analytical exposition writing tests and interviews. The results from this study demonstrated that the Experimental group taught with a guided lesson study surpassed the Control Group taught by the unguided lesson study. The guided lesson helped students achieve the learning goals of the analytical exposition aspects. This study recommends that this procedure be used to teach writing in any genre, as it could improve the students’ writing skills.
