Abstract

The pedagogical approach known as the flipped classroom has gained significant popularity in both higher education and high school settings in recent years. This article aims to provide a comprehensive explanation regarding the comparison of flipped classroom academic results in physics education before and during the Covid-19 pandemic. The method used here was bibliometric-based literacy analysis using Publish or Perish (PoP) software and the VOSviewer application, which is focused on the keyword "Flipped classroom in physics" during the last three years before the Covid-19 pandemic (2017 - 2019) and the last three years during the Covid-19 pandemic (2020 – 2022). According to the findings of bibliometric analysis and systematic reviews of articles, the following flipped classroom academic outcomes in physics education were most frequently studied before the Covid-19 pandemic: 1) academic achievement, 2) motivation, 3) students' engagement, 4) students' performance, 5) knowledge acquisition, 6) interest in learning, 7) problem-solving skills, 8) self-efficacy, 9) conceptual understanding, and 10) attitude. Meanwhile, there are eight categories of outcomes in 2020-2021: 1) motivation, 2) academic achievement, 3) student experience, 4) student engagement, 5) conceptual understanding, 6) self-efficacy, 7) process skills, and 8) critical thinking. This study concludes that the academic outcome of flipped classroom research in physics education before the pandemic was more than during the Covid-19 pandemic, and in 6 past years, most research has focused on the effect of flipped classrooms on academic achievement, motivation, conceptual understanding, and self-efficacy compared to other academic outcomes such as scientific reasoning or creative thinking.

Abstract

Attitudes plays an important role in influencing student achievement in physics education. However, there is limited study investigating the effect of students’ attitudes on physics achievement in Indonesia. Therefore, this research aimed to investigate the correlation between students' attitudes towards physics learning achievement. The research used a quantitative descriptive approach through survey methods. The research sample was obtained by simple random sampling of as many as 35 students of class XI IPA 2, consisting of 17 men and 18 women. Data collection used a student attitude questionnaire instrument. The study showed that student’s attitudes have an average of 61 with the highest student's attitude being 90 and the lowest student's attitude being 30. The results of student achievement in the form of physics test scores have an average of 67 with the highest score being 100 and the lowest score being 36. The results of the correlation test analysis obtained a score significance (p 0.05) with a correlation coefficient of 0.576. So, it can be concluded that there is a positive correlation and a fairly strong category between students' physics attitudes and students' physics achievements. This shows that the higher the student's attitude towards physics, the higher the student's achievement will be.

Abstract

In today's developments, the role of educators is not only needed in terms of sharing knowledge with students but also in preparing teaching media and materials that can help accelerate the delivery of material. The purpose of this study was to explore the needs analysis in developing physics e-modules on work and energy material for class X Senior High School. This study employed surveys under quantitative and qualitative approaches. There were 153 students involved in this study. The quantitative data were collected through learning resources and learning media instruments, while qualitative data were collected using interview instruments, questionnaires, observation, analysis of procedures and survey document. The results of this study showed that most of the learning resources and teaching materials used by teachers in schools were printed books with a score of 81%, and the most frequently used media in teaching was PowerPoint media with a score of 41.67%. This fact resulted in the lack of students’ interest in solving everyday problems and low students’ learning outcomes. In other words, the learning media used in the classroom did not suit their needs, so the development of teaching materials and media is needed to facilitate students in learning activities independently. Teaching Work and Energy materials that are widely applied in everyday life requires media in the form of physics e-modules. The development of physics e-modules on work and energy materials can overcome the problems found in the classroom, especially when teaching that material.

Abstract

Indonesia is a rich country in local wisdom, but it is starting to fade along with technological developments. pigeons racing on Madura island is an example of local wisdom that can be used as a source of new knowledge in understanding physics concepts in social life. Pigeon racing is a big competition that is held after the rice harvest season arrives. This research aims to analyze the physics concepts contained in pigeon racing. This research was conducted using a descriptive method with a qualitative approach. data collection was obtained by technically analyzing the data subjectively using interview, observation and literature study methods. Based on data analysis and literature studies, it was found that in pigeon racing, there are physics concepts related to motion and displacement. At a rapid rate, the calculation results show, that the speed of an object can increase uniformly or decrease uniformly. An object is said to be moving in a straight line and changing uniformly to accelerate if the object's speed increases uniformly. Meanwhile, an object is said to be moving in a straight line and changes evenly and is slowed down if the object's speed decreases uniformly. The change in speed per unit time is called acceleration. Then, The results of this research can be used as a contextual learning resource in high school physics subjects about motion.
