Abstract

Social media especially TikTok, offers significant potential as an effective and engaging learning tool. Marhaban Academy is a prime example of harnessing this platform to deliver innovative Arabic language teaching materials. This study aims to conduct a thorough analysis of the Arabic language learning content presented by Marhaban Academy on TikTok using a qualitative approach and Miles and Huberman's data analysis model. Through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing stages. The study findings indicate well-presented teaching materials with relevant content and the use of multimedia such as animation, colored text, and visuals to enhance user engagement. However, there is a need for systematic improvement in the coherence of Arabic language concepts and more structured evaluation strategies to enhance learning effectiveness. This study provides insights into the potential and challenges of Arabic language education through the TikTok platform as implemented by Marhaban Academy.

Abstract

Writing skills plays an important role in supporting activities in learning Arabic. This study aims to reveal the writing skills learning process for class VIII students at MTs Ali Imron and compare it with the perspective.of Prof Dr. Abdurrahman Al-Fauzan’s theory. The method used in this study is a descriptive qualitative method with the research subjects being class VIII students at MTs Ali Imron. This data collection technique uses observation and interviews. The results of this study conclude that the writing skills learning process for class VIII students at MTs Ali Imron Medan is not in accordance with the perspective of Prof, Dr. Abdurrahman Al-Fauzan’s theory. The inconsistencies are as follows; don't know how to write letters in a word and how to write vowels. Even though most of them like writing skills, teachers have not been able to provide a good learning process for the writing skills and according to the correct writing rules. So students can only just write without knowing or following the correct writing process.

Abstract

This study is based on the students’ low ability to write Arabic vocabulary correctly, particularly in the aspect of imlā’.Many tenth-grade students at MAS YASPI Labuhan Deli Medan still make basic writing errors in letters, harakat, and word forms, indicating a gap between expected vocabulary mastery and actual performance. The main objective of this study is to analyze the types of imla’ errors made by students, identify the causes, and formulate appropriate teaching strategies to reduce these errors. This research employed a qualitative descriptive method with a case study design. The subjects consisted of 20 tenth-grade students. Data were collected through written tests, interviews, and documentation, and analyzed using identification, classification, interpretation, and error analysis techniques. The findings reveal eight categories of imlā’’ errors, with the most common being letter substitution and the omission or addition of letters. Contributing factors include limited understanding of imla’ rules, lack of writing practice, and less supportive teaching methods. The study recommends strategies such as applying imlā’ istimā‘ī and imlā’ manẓūr methods, along with strengthening students’ understanding of writing rules and focused writing practice, as contributions to improve Arabic writing instruction.

Abstract

Vocabulary mastery is a crucial aspect in learning Arabic, in practice there are still many students who have difficulty in understanding and remembering mufrodat even though the Game-Based Learning method has been applied. This research is motivated by the fact that the application of GBL in class VIII MTs Swasta Riyadussholihin Sunggal Medan has not fully succeeded in improving vocabulary mastery evenly among students. The main purpose of this study is to analyze students' and teachers' experiences in the implementation of GBL and identify the supporting and inhibiting factors that influence the success of this method. The research used a descriptive qualitative approach with a case study design. The research subjects were one Arabic teacher and all students of grade VIII, with data obtained through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model. The results showed that although GBL increased students' motivation and engagement, around 45% of students still experienced difficulties in vocabulary acquisition due to factors such as the fast rhythm of the game, lack of understanding of the rules, and different learning styles. This study recommends modifying the GBL strategy to be more inclusive, adaptive to the needs of students in madrasah.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the spaced repetition technique integrated with flashcard media in improving Arabic vocabulary retention in students. Quantitative methods with a pre-experimental design of the One Group Pretest-Posttest type were used in this study. The subjects of the study were 22 female students of Madrasah Tsanawiyah Nurul Jadid class VII, who were selected through total sampling techniques. Data were collected through pretest and posttest tests, then analyzed using normality tests and paired sample t-tests with the help of SPSS. The results showed an increase in the average value from 60.7 (pretest) to 87.2 (posttest) with a significance value of p = 0.000 <0.05. These findings indicate that the use of the spaced repetition technique with the help of flashcard media is effective in significantly increasing Arabic vocabulary retention. The implication of this study is that the spaced repetition technique with flashcard media can be used as an alternative for learning Arabic vocabulary.

Abstract

The Israel-Palestine conflict is a global issue laden with power dynamics, ideological struggles, and media representation. Amid dominant and often biased global narratives, visual works such as political caricatures offer an alternative space for voicing criticism and solidarity. This study aims to uncover both the denotative and connotative (mythological) meanings within digital caricatures by Osama Hajjaj, published through his Instagram account. Using a qualitative descriptive method and Roland Barthes’ semiotic approach, which distinguishes between the levels of denotation and connotation. This research analyzes five purposively selected caricatures that explicitly portray the Israel–Palestine conflict, rich in symbolic and contextual relevance (October–December 2024). The findings reveal that at the denotative level, the caricatures depict the realities of conflict through visual elements such as military aggression, civilian suffering, and international institutions. At the connotative level, they deconstruct ideological myths, including digital solidarity, the illusion of ceasefire, the war on terrorism, the hypocrisy of power, and the impartiality of international organizations. These caricatures function as a form of symbolic resistance that not only conveys information but also shapes public consciousness and critiques global power structures. As such, Osama Hajjaj’s works serve as visual texts that play a significant role in the construction and deconstruction of meaning surrounding the Israel–Palestine conflict in the digital age.
