Abstract

The current teaching materials used by teachers are still very concerned where the teaching materials used are the same as student books and the teaching materials used by students and teachers are still general or national in nature which has not been integrated with local wisdom. This causes students to have difficulty understanding the material that affects learning outcomes. The purpose of this research is to create thematic teaching materials based on Riau's local wisdom. The type of research conducted is R&D with the ADDIE model. However, only 3 stages (analyze, Design, and Development) were carried out. The subjects of this study were 6 experts, consisting of 2 material experts, 2 linguists, and 2 design experts, and fourth-grade elementary school students. Data collection methods used are interviews and validation sheets. The analysis carried out is a qualitative and quantitative analysis of interview data and validation sheets. The results of the study stated that thematic teaching materials based on Riau's local wisdom were feasible from the aspect of material, language, and design with an average score of 89.33% with very valid categories. So, thematic teaching materials based on Riau local wisdom are feasible to use.

Abstract

Mathematical disposition plays an important role in increasing student motivation in learning mathematics. High mathematical disposition has an impact on the good learning outcomes of mathematics. This study aims to test the increase in the mathematical disposition of students who take open-ended learning based on ethnomathematics and determine the effect of mathematical disposition on students' mathematical abilities. This quantitative research refers to a one-group pretest-posttest design. Data collection techniques in this study used non-test and test techniques. The instrument used was a questionnaire to measure students 'mathematical disposition and test questions to measure students' mathematical abilities. The data analysis technique used is the gain test and regression analysis. The results of this study indicate that the mathematical disposition of students who take ethnomathematics-based open-ended learning is increased by 47%, which means that it is included in the medium category and mathematical disposition affects students' mathematical abilities through the application of open-ended learning based on ethnomathematics by 57.9%. This means that open-ended learning based on ethnomathematics can improve students' mathematical disposition.

Abstract

The stories of Jenderal Soedirman, one of the national instrumental figures in seizing Indonesia's independence from the invaders, have been visualized in many films. Films containing events about the struggle for independence need to be studied, understood and remembered so that the values of nationalism are embedded. This film has the potential to be used as a learning media in packaging stories into interesting and meaningful learning for elementary school students. This leads researchers to analyze Jenderal Soedirman’s short film as learning media on the IPS national events of the time colonization of 5th graders of elementary school. This study  used a qualitative approach in observing an individual behavior and to describe the data of research’s findings in detail and moderation. The research method used was Roland Barthes’s semiotic analysis that focused on signs and symbols as markers interpreted by denotation, connotation and myth on the film. The data collecting techniques used were observation, student's journal, questionnaires and documentation. Based on research and discussion of semiotic analysis of Jenderal Soedirman’s short film as learning media on three meanings, it is evident that researchers can better understand the hidden meaning contained in the film. The researchers deeply identify the figure of Jenderal Soedirman, the myth believed by the Indonesian freedom people during his  struggle and this film potential to be used as a learning media because it increases students’ learning motivation by a score of  3,00 earned in a reasonably good category.

Abstract

The absorption of graduates in the industrial world is an important aspect that affects the quality of vocational high schools (SMK). However, the problem that occurs is the low absorption. This study aims to analyze the level of absorption of SMK graduates in light vehicle engineering (TKR) and motorcycle engineering and business (TBSM) programs. Descriptive research uses a quantitative approach to measure the percentage of graduate absorption. A total of 4 vocational high school job fairs were involved in this study. Techniques and instruments of data collection using methods and observation sheets by observing survey data in special job fairs. The data analysis technique used quantitative descriptive analysis and inferential analysis of the sample independent t test. The results showed that the level of absorption of SMK graduates in the TKR and TBSM majors was low. Various efforts to revitalize vocational education must be matured again. The link and match program of SMK with the industrial world needs to be more intensive to align the competencies taught to the competency needs of the industrial world, so that the absorption of graduates can be improved.

Abstract

Electronic modules have an important role because they can help the learning process of students. The problems obtained can be seen from the motivation and learning outcomes that cannot be said to be optimal, one of the causes is the lack of learning media used. With the use of electronic modules, abstract material can be concreted and make students interested and motivated in learning and can improve learning outcomes. The purpose of this study was to test the effectiveness of the electronic module on cognitive learning outcomes on social change material in the Education package C program. The research approach used was a quantitative approach. The type of research used is Pre-Experimental. The design used in this research is One Group Pretest-Posttest. The research subjects were students of class XII package C program, totaling 38 students with 17 males and 21 females. Methods of data collection by observation, interviews, and tests. The instrumentes used are in the form of an objective test with a total of 10 items. The analysis of improving learning outcomes was analyzed using the N-Gain formula. N-Gain is used to calculate the increase in learning outcomes. Based on the N-gain analysis, student learning outcomes show a value of 0.60 in the medium category and the value of the effectiveness of N-gain in percent is 60 with an effective enough category. So learning by using electronic modules can improve student learning outcomes.
