Abstract

Abstract - This empirical study employed structural equation modeling (SEM) to investigate the impact of sustainable practices on sustainable performance of higher education institutions. Firstly, the sustainable performance survey is designed to investigate its main influencing factors among the pool of constructs includes; economic, environment, social and top management support factors. Secondly, based on the SEM, the levels of sustainable performance of the universities are quantified in accordance with factors. The findings were supported by empirical evidence, as the study established that only economic and environment factors have significant positive relationship and impact sustainability performance. This paper provides a greater understanding of the interactions between key elements of sustainable practices associated with university performance provision as well as the degree of relationship between them.

Abstract

Indonesia is viewed as one of the biggest exporters and producer of foods and also plays an essential role in the development of Indonesia economy. Nevertheless, food industry provides help to the country to generate high level of income. To effect the performance of food industry, there are lot of factors. For this purpose, it is intensively challenging to choose that factor which effects more in the performance of food industry that could lead to a negative or the positive impact on another factor. Using cross sectional research design, 500 questionnaires were distributed among the supply chain managers of food industry by using a judgmental sampling technique which yield a 40% response rate. The data was analyzed by the Structural Equation Modeling technique. The key findings of the study have shown that SCM capabilities have positive and significant association with the BP. Similarly, it was also shown that information sharing significantly moderates within two components of SCM namely, strategic sourcing, technology capability and BP. Whereas has insignificant moderating effect on the relationship of logistic integration commitment and BP.  Hence, current study contributed some theoretical implications in the existing body of literature. The study limitations and future directions are also being discussed.

Abstract

The concept of Islamic finance is related to Socially Responsible Investment (SRI) by many researchers in different time frames based on the similarities between Islamic finance and the concept of SRI and Supply Chain Management (SCM). SRI has been described by many authors as an investment philosophy that includes non-financial, ethical (e.g., social and environmental) objectives. This paper will shed the light on the interconnection between concepts the Socially Responsible Investment (SRI) and the Islamic Finance Model (IFM). To explain and explore the concept of SRI within Islamic Finance qualitative research technique will be used.  The findings show that central values in IFM and SRI could be matched to optimize prospects for Islamic finance to tap the large pool of global SRI funds. Moving forward, greater interplay between these two markets should be explored. Key stakeholders on both ends, including financial experts, research centers, rating agencies, non-governmental organizations and even regulators should pursue ways to consolidate the connectivity of these markets. The Islamic finance focuses mainly on risk sharing, individuals’ rights and responsibilities, property rights and the purity of contracts. Receipt and payment of interest in contracts differentiate Islamic Finance from conventional finance. The other factors such as banned on contracts involving investments in alcohol, tobacco, drugs, pornography, prostitution, gambling, armaments, animal experimentation, genetic engineering, financial exploitation makes it similar to social responsible investment SRI.

Abstract

The course selection has become a favorite issue among the students who pursue their tertiary study in university nowadays. This is because there are a lot of course programmes offered in this knowledge-based education system. Besides that, other factors such as the financial problem, motivation, self-interest, moral support from friends and family are important criteria in the selection of course programmes. The objective of this study is to propose a data-driven conceptual framework to determine the student preference in the selection of course programmes with Analytic Hierarchy Process Technique for Order of Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (AHP-TOPSIS) model. Moreover, this study also aims to determine the priority of the decision criteria that influence the selection of course programmes among the students. In this study, the target respondents are the science stream students from Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman, Malaysia who provide the inputs as data-driven decision analysis on the selection of course programmes. The results of this study show that medical science is the most preferred course programmes among the students followed by engineering, science and lastly information system. On the other hand, career prospect has been identified as the most concerned decision criterion by the student in the selection of course programmes. This study is significant because it helps to determine the most preferred course programme as well as the most influential criteria in the selection of course programmes among the students with the proposed conceptual framework based on AHP-TOPSIS model.
