Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the relationship between internal corporate governance attributes and capital structure in a supply chain process of Malaysian listed firms. Most of prior works were based on agency theory, and the results are mixed. This study endeavored to examine the complementary relationship between multiple factors of governance to avoid providing repeated evidences and or to enrich the existing literature with different perspective, which can be achieved by supply chain strategy. The study was conducted in Malaysian listed firm of period 2014-2015. Regression analysis is used in this study as statistical tool of analysis. Based on statistical analysis, the results of this study reveal that only board size, board meeting, and audit committee size are correlated to capital structure. Other variables have no effect on capital structure. The analysis also showed that attributes of governance are complements to each other, in turn; this may lead to perfection of monitoring and management of the board decision making. This study contributes to protect beneficiary parties from manager’s manipulation in a supply chain strategy. Also, the results of this study can be used as a support to develop Malaysian code of governance.

Abstract

A lot of functions of enterprise management are grounded on the analytical basis that include the models of activity assessment which appears to be multicriteria under the complicated conditions of globalistics. The aim of the study is to improve the mathematical instrument for modeling the multicriteria assessment of enterprise activity. Taking into account the positive practice of using the Balanced Scorecard for assessing enterprise performance, its criteria are structured according to four components and serve for content assessment model. The assessment of enterprise activity based on the Balanced Scorecard mostly accounted for cause and effect interconnections, but this is just its level that influences the assessment. The paper presents the improved function of transforming the assessment criteria values and the formula of value calibration. The advantages of this function are flexibility and taking account the regular tendencies of changes in the criteria values. The level of enterprise performance is determined by an integrated index obtained as partial desirability functions folding by gmean. This generalizing desirability function is sensitive to small transformed criteria values that realizes tough requirements to assessment. The developed methodological approach in the modeling of multicriteria assessment of enterprise activity provides for taking into account the main criteria and possibility of their hierarchical systematization. The results of such modeling can be used in the processes of control, controlling and monitoring of this activity.

Abstract

Abstract- This study aims to propose an improved trading environment for purchasing low material and alternatives to reform supply chain management among firms which are the parts manufacturers of nuclear industry. One of the means of construing experience is how elements of nuclear relations are constructed within linguistic constructions. Configurations of nuclear relation elements can be different from one language to another because of different grammar rules. As a particular construction is translated, the configurations may be retained or shifted. This study explores retention and shift of nuclear relation configurations as a result of translation and the effect on translation quality in a supply chain for language translation. Clauses and nominal groups in the original novel Percy Jackson portraying the main character’s character and their Indonesian translation are investigated to reveal how the nuclear relation configurations are retained or shifted in the target language. Further, the correspondence of shift and retention and the accuracy and acceptability of the translation is investigated. The results reveal that nuclear relation configuration does not have direct impact on the accuracy of the translation. The configuration tends to be closer to the acceptability of the translation. Nuclear relation configuration can be retained whenever grammar rules allow in translating from English to Indonesian and be reformulated in situations which require shifts.

Abstract

The main propose of this study was to examine the relationship between lean healthcare practices (LHP) (operational and sociotechnical aspects) and operational performance among Malaysias private hospitals. Specifically it aimed at investigating both the moderating role of safety climate on the relationship between operational aspects and sociotechnical aspects on operational performance. Quantitative method was applied for this study with the questionnaires were randomly distributed to 118 private hospitals in Malaysia as the sample. The data collected were analyzed by performing the PLS-SEM technique. The results indicate that operational aspects and sociotechnical aspects improved operational performance, showing that these are the important elements that should be seriously considered by practitioners. However, safety climate as a moderator failed to support the relationship between operational aspects and sociotechnical aspects on operational performance. These findings have contributed theoretically, practically and methodologically with imperative implications to academicians, policy-makers and private hospitals specifically.

Abstract

Abstract— One of the directions of the trade integration process of the economies of countries is the conclusion of multilateral and bilateral free trade agreements, the number of which is steadily growing and becoming an important factor in socio-economic development. Mutually beneficial terms of cooperation on a wide range of foreign economic relations that go beyond the limits of foreign trade operations for the supply chain management are determined and formed. Free movement of factors of production, support for fair competition, the protection of intellectual property rights, the cooperation in the field of industrial, scientific, technical and innovation interaction, the coordination and unification of the legislative framework of foreign economic policy form the basis of trade agreements between countries. However, the processes occurring in the global economy, caused primarily by the reluctance of the American leadership to hear other world trading players, frank calls for anti-trade trends in globalization cannot but provoke criticism from traditional American trading partners and closest political allies. Building a regional trade without the United States could lead to a whole coalition of former allies, from Canada to Great Britain, participating in trade wars against the Americans.

Abstract

Abstract- The supply chain dynamics has been broadly examined and experienced by the academes, industrialists as well as economists. However, still the literature is missing with the effect of economic indicators on supply chain practices, particularly in fishing industry. Therefore, the objective of the current study is to examine the role of economic indicators on supply chain in fishing industry of Indonesia. Fishing industry is one of the industries which is working from many centuries and now growing rapidly and considered to be the important element of economic growth in different countries like Indonesia. Six hypotheses were formulated with the help of previous studies, concerning the relationship between inflation rate, interest rate, human development index (HDI), gross domestic product (GDP) and supply chain. GDP was considered as the mediating variable. Managerial employees of fishing companies were selected as the respondents of this study. Primary data was collected by conducting the questionnaire survey. Total number of one hundred and ninety-six (196) response were received. These responses were analysed with the help of statistical software namely; Partial Least Square (PLS). It was found that economic indicators have influence on supply chain. Increases in inflation rate and interest rate decreases the supply chain. However, increases in HDI enhances the GDP and promote supply chain activities. Additionally, GDP is a mediating variable between HDI and supply chain which positively enhances the supply chain through HDI. Thus, study provides the clues for government to promote supply chain by controlling inflation and interest rate.

Abstract

In modern age, Internet has brought massive impact to the distribution channel management. Especially to the manufacturers, harnessing the power of Internet is deemed a strategic step to reinforce the products' awareness among consumers and further improve market share. However, the outcomes of setting up Internet sales channel are mixed. Although some organizations do exemplify the success of online sales channel, there are manufacturers who simply fail in this aspect. This paper aims to provide insights into the factors which manufacturers must take into consideration in contemplating to setting up Internet sales channel. By using transaction cost analysis (TCA), we set up a research model, which composed of various factors which are critical to the success of Internet sales channel and elaborate the role of these factors on this issue. Subsequently, appropriate propositions are instigated and investigated in order to determine the impact of these variables on the manufacturers’ decision making in this area.

Abstract

Abstract- Initially, any economic activity is associated with a negative impact on the environment. In modern realities, this situation requires mandatory preliminary assessment of an investment project in order to prevent or at least minimize the negative impact on the territory. In this regard, one of the urgent tasks of sustainable development in the territory is using green supply chain management (GSCM) to improve the system of strategic management and analysis of investment projects in order to identify the main reasons for its improper functioning. In accordance with the principles of system analysis, all kinds of complex problems that constantly arise in front of society (first of all, the problem of strategic management) must be considered in a holistic context, in the form of a system of interaction between all its components, as a rule, such as an organization of components focused on a single goal. However, due to the fact that in everyday practice, real systems are more complex, they prefer to use those models for the purposes of system analysis, that reflect the studied properties of real systems in a certain approximation. Any investment project can be considered not only as exclusive project documentation, but also as a set of economic relations that arise between many participants: subsoil users, the public, government agencies, and the environment itself. Moreover, these relationships are manifested at all stages of the investment project's life cycle from the design and implementation processes to its liquidation. The methodological approaches of cybernetics and system analysis are effectively used to understand the behavior of such organizational systems. In the theory of effective environmental management, there is still no proper reflection of the problems concerning qualitative and quantitative research of material and energy flows, the flow of pollution of natural objects, through which the interaction between productive forces and environmental systems takes place. All this, of course, shows the relevance and importance of developing new criteria for ecological and economic systems.
