Abstract

Soon after the introduction of liberalization and privatization in India around 1991, people started paying more attention towards management education (Gupta Satapathy, 2012). If one looks at the statistics, one will be surprised to see that earlier, there were only a handful of public and private sector universities and institutions offering degrees in management/business administration and related field. However, in the past one decade or so, the educational supply chain is flooded with new institutions coming forward with diverse specializations (Saha, 2012). It resulted in the waning down of those necessary intangibles which are considered indispensable prerequisites to enter the professional arena. Such intangibles would include the good communication skills, good knowledge of the world economy and its happenings, good command over subjects, good analytical skills, reasonable technical skills, disciplined and a pleasant personality etc. In the view of this problem, this research paper attempts a) to identify those broad intangibles desired by the job market and then, b) to establish priorities among them based on academicians perception. The first objective related to the identification of broad intangibles was met by extensive literature review and for the second one, the primary data were collected from four academicians and priorities were established using Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP). Besides enriching the literature, the outcome of this study will help the aspiring management graduates understand a clear-cut hierarchy of the several desired attributes in terms of their perceived importance given.

Abstract

IoT is set to revolutionize the supply chain—both in terms of its operational efficiencies and revenue opportunities—by making it transparent. This paper is devoted to the investigation of the challenges and effects of IoT and Digital Twins integration. The goal is to ensure the formation of a methodological basis for calculating the cumulative effect of the accelerated implementation of digital twins, which should become a source of reserved growth and increase the competitiveness of a modern industrial enterprise. Our study revealed that in the context of the modern digital transformation of industry, these concepts are mutually penetrating and complementary for two reasons: 1) Big Data being the basis of IoT implementation are not valuable in themselves, since they are characterized by the lack of systematization of huge data arrays presented in different metrics. Big Data gain value in solving specific business problems; 2) The digital transformation of industry determines the shift in the value of the assets of a company towards such a specific asset as Digital Twins. In this regard, IoT should be considered as one of the environments for creating the most valuable asset of companies in a digital economy - Digital Twins. From a methodological point of view, the integration of these concepts allows us to form several intermediate digital standardization forms within the continuum “standardization - technological breakthrough”.

Abstract

This article considers the task of objects state assessing in conditions of uncertainty by considering the supply chain strategy. To solve it, the need to use fuzzy-production knowledge bases and fuzzy inference algorithms as part of fuzzy decision support systems is being updated. As a tool for constructing a knowledge base, a neural-fuzzy model is proposed. The proposed type of fuzzy-production rules and the logic inference algorithm on rules for objects state assessing are described. A structure of a fuzzy neural network, consisting of six layers, each of which implements the corresponding stage of the logic inference algorithm, is proposed. As a result of training a fuzzy neural network, a system of fuzzy-production rules is formed, which make up the knowledge base of the decision support system for objects state assessing. On the basis of the proposed neuro-fuzzy model, a software package has been implemented for automating the processes of forming fuzzy-production rules. The main components of the software package are the knowledge base generation module and the fuzzy inference module. As an approbation of the neuro-fuzzy model, the formation of fuzzy rules for assessing the state of water lines at the cluster pumping stations in reservoir pressure maintenance systems has been carried out. The testing results confirmed the high efficiency of the neural-fuzzy model and the possibility of its practical use for the formation of fuzzy-production rules in various subject areas of human activity.

Abstract

The logistics industry environment is continuously changes with intense competition and demanding customers. Hence, appropriate firm culture that initiates firm innovativeness is required. At present, innovativeness research on logistics companies is still limited. Yet, empirical research showed firm innovativeness provide companies capabilities to achieve lower cost while rendering higher quality services that meet all requirements of potential customers, introduce new products, services, business, environmental issues and maximum utilization of information technology. Although there is general impression on low level of innovativeness in SMEs around the world, this research aims to demonstrate that there is potential higher degree of innovativeness within Malaysia’s logistics sector. Hence, this study objective is to gauge firm culture relationship with firm innovativeness. The study used simple random sampling technique where 226 companies were selected from total population of 500 logistic companies registered under Federation of Malaysian Freight Forwarders via survey. Findings revealed firm innovativeness among logistic companies is at high level and firm culture has a significant positive correlation with firm innovativeness. In fact, firm culture specifically adhocracy and market orientation culture significantly and positively influence on logistic firm innovativeness in Malaysia. This study brings new insight on innovativeness among Malaysian logistic companies.
