Abstract

In the digital era, freedom of speech on social media is often misused to spread hoax news, which is inaccurate information that aims to mislead the public and trigger division. One of the cases widely discussed is the hoax related to the rejection of aid by victims of the Cianjur earthquake, which triggered misunderstandings among netizens. This study aims to analyze the influence of hoax news on social media on netizens' social concern for the disaster. The method used is quantitative, with primary and secondary data and simple linear regression analysis to measure the relationship between variable X (hoax news) and variable Y (social concern). This study involved 40 respondents from various backgrounds: students, college students, workers, and housewives. The results show that hoax news affects netizens' social concerns, with a contribution of 33.4% and a correlation of 0.578. These findings prove that hoax news can influence a person's mindset, actions, and social concerns, potentially threatening community life. Hopefully, this study will broaden horizons and encourage netizens to be more critical in receiving information.

Abstract

Abstract

Instagram began as a photo-sharing tool and has since grown into a multifaceted social media platform that profoundly influences the lives of teenagers. Beyond its fundamental function, Instagram has evolved into a virtual stage where teenagers can express themselves, explore their personalities, and form social connections. The platform's dynamic and visually appealing characteristics have made it a popular and successful tool for self-expression. This study investigates the sociological aspects of Instagram use among teenagers, using Erving Goffman's dramaturgical theory as a theoretical framework. By viewing Instagram as a social theater, this research examines how teenagers strategically construct and present their identities to online audiences. Using a qualitative research approach, specifically netnography, the study analyzes various performative strategies employed by teenagers, such as filter selection, narrative creation, and social interaction The findings reveal that Instagram has become a place where tenageers actively participate in constructing their identities influenced by social norms and peer pressure, then Instagram can have both positive and negative effects too. On the one hand, the platform can foster creativity, self-expression, and social connection. Teenagers can share their passions, connect with like-minded individuals, and build supportive online communities. However, excessive Instagram use can have negative implications, such as social comparison, cyberbullying, and body image issues. Continuous exposure to curated and idealized pictures of others might lead to feelings of inadequacy and low self-esteem. Furthermore, Instagram can shape teenagers’ perceptions of attractiveness, success, and happiness. In conclusion, Instagram has become a powerful force shaping the identities and behaviors of teenagers. By understanding the complex dynamics of online self-presentation, this study sheds light on the potential benefits and drawbacks of Instagram usage.

Abstract

This study investigates the attachment patterns of fish traders in traditional markets, focusing on Nanggalo District, Padang City, Indonesia. The research employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive design. Purposive sampling was used to select research informants, who are fish traders with varying levels of attachment. Data collection methods included in-depth interviews, participant observation, and document analysis. The data analysis followed the model proposed by Miles and Huberman, consisting of data collection, data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that the presence of fish traders in traditional markets is strongly influenced by collaborative relationships between traders during the fish procurement process. This collaboration is characterized by interactions between large agents, small agents, and traders, forming a network of trust. Over time, these interactions evolved from initial mutual acquaintance to a system of credit and installment-based transactions, allowing traders to take fish on credit. The attachment among traders is marked by this trust and a shift from initial exchange relationships to more flexible, long-term trading arrangements.

Abstract

This study aims to address the challenges faced by seventh-grade students in understanding fraction concepts, particularly their difficulties in both conceptualizing and applying fractions in real-life contexts. To tackle these issues, a training program was designed to enhance students' creativity and improve their comprehension of fractions through the development of mathematics learning media. The training was specifically conducted at MTs Miftahul Ulum, and it employed a two-phase methodology. The first phase involved the delivery of instructional content on fractions, while the second phase focused on guiding students in the creation of simple, yet effective, mathematics learning media. The results of the training indicated a high level of engagement and enthusiasm among participants, as demonstrated by their active involvement in the media creation process. This study contributes to the pedagogical field by providing an innovative approach for supporting students in designing and utilizing learning media, ultimately fostering a more interactive and engaging learning environment. It is anticipated that the knowledge gained from this training will empower students to design creative learning tools that can enhance their understanding of mathematical concepts, particularly fractions.

Abstract

The Indonesian nation is experiencing an emergency regarding gambling. The significant impact of gambling affects all aspects. Not only the destruction of family relationships, the loss of material and even a person's life can be a dangerous threat from the game that is forbidden by religion. Various policies and regulations are made to overcome the high level of gambling. Starting from punishment, to a fine that is not small. However, it seems that this does not reduce the number of players to stop gambling. So, from this we need to look deeply, that this gambling game is generally carried out by those who do not have the ability to see carefully about the existence of awareness. The study uses a qualitative method with a critical approach through netnographic studies with reference to the theory of transformation of consciousness developed by Reza Antonius Wattimena. Through this theory, we can see thoroughly that the existence of awareness that is known deeply can be an important key to being able to recognize everything we are facing, including efforts to resolve it. The process of recognizing and understanding what is experienced by each individual through the theory of consciousness will bring the individual to have good skills, related to the phenomenon of the Level of consciousness that is studied in depth, starting from the level of distinctive consciousness to the level of consciousness of emptiness. These levels of awareness will bring each individual to a complex and integrated understanding of gambling. The purpose of this study is broadly oriented to provide a comprehensive understanding that the key to human action is awareness. So, by having good and high awareness we can see and overcome all the dynamics of life in society, especially related to the issue of immoral acts.

Abstract

This study examines the institutional performance and social impact of the National Center for Drug and Food Control (BBPOM) in Palembang as a public health governance institution serving South Sumatra province during 2024. Positioned within the social sciences framework of public administration and health governance, this research analyzes how regulatory institutions function as social agents protecting community welfare. The study employs a quantitative descriptive approach following Creswell's (2014) research design framework for institutional performance analysis. Data sources include institutional performance reports, budget realization documents, and efficiency indicators from January to December 2024. Analysis reveals that BBPOM Palembang achieved 100.84% of performance targets with 98.84% budget efficiency, successfully inspecting 1,471 drug samples (100.48% of target) and 584 food samples (101.92% of target), while reaching 13,353 community members through health education programs. The findings demonstrate strong institutional effectiveness in translating national health policies into local implementation, with public satisfaction reaching 95.9%. However, challenges remain in food safety compliance (90.58% vs 91.00% target) and criminal case handling efficiency (87.14%). This research contributes to understanding the social dynamics of regulatory governance in emerging economies, highlighting the critical role of public institutions in protecting community health rights and advancing social welfare. The study provides empirical evidence for policy improvement in pharmaceutical and food safety governance from a social sciences perspective, emphasizing the interconnection between institutional performance, social accountability, and community well-being.

Abstract

This study explores how SHRM enhances employee engagement in higher education, particularly within economics and management education. Using a qualitative library research design and thematic content analysis, the study reviewed scholarly sources published between 2014 and 2024. Literature selection followed explicit inclusion–exclusion criteria, incorporating academic works addressing SHRM, employee engagement, leadership, organizational culture, or HRM in higher education, while excluding non-scholarly publications and studies lacking methodological clarity. The findings show that SHRM strengthens engagement when aligned with institutional strategy, supported by transformational leadership, and embedded within a participatory organizational culture. Four clusters of HR practices competency-based planning, continuous professional development, performance-based rewards, and participatory performance management emerge as key drivers of engagement through their effects on motivation and organizational commitment. Based on these insights, the study proposes a conceptual model explaining how SHRM enhances cognitive, emotional, and behavioral engagement, ultimately improving teaching performance, research productivity, and institutional competitiveness. The results contribute to the limited academic literature on SHRM in higher education and offer practical guidance for universities seeking to build integrated HR strategies. Future empirical research is recommended to validate the proposed model across diverse academic contexts.
