Abstract

This study investigated the relationship between students’ perfectionism tendencies and their English-speaking performance among twelfth-grade students at SMA Islam Plus Tahfizh Attaufiq Jambi. A quantitative correlational research design was employed involving 44 students selected through total sampling. Data were collected using the Child and Adolescent Perfectionism Scale (CAPS) to measure adaptive and maladaptive perfectionism, and an English-speaking test assessed using Hughes’s (2003) analytical rubric. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and Spearman’s rank-order correlation. The findings revealed that both adaptive and maladaptive perfectionism demonstrated positive relationships with all speaking components. Statistically significant relationships were identified only in pronunciation and fluency, while no significant relationships were found with grammar, vocabulary, comprehension, or overall English-speaking performance. These findings suggest that perfectionistic tendencies may contribute more to specific aspects of speaking performance requiring continuous practice and self-monitoring than to overall speaking proficiency. The study highlights the importance of recognizing students’ psychological characteristics in EFL learning and encourages teachers to foster adaptive perfectionistic behaviours while creating supportive classroom environments.

Abstract

Tahlilan is a religious ritual that continues to be widely practiced by the Javanese–Malay community in Binjai Hulu, Sintang Regency, West Kalimantan. Beyond serving as a collective prayer for the deceased, tahlilan functions as a social institution that fosters empathy, provides emotional support to bereaved families, and strengthens community solidarity. This study aims to analyze the role of tahlilan as a space for emotional education and social solidarity within the Javanese–Malay community. The study employed a qualitative approach using ritual ethnography through participant observation, in-depth interviews with five purposively selected informants, and document analysis as supporting data. Data were analyzed thematically using Emile Durkheim's perspectives on social solidarity and collective consciousness, Clifford Geertz's concept of religion as a cultural system, George Herbert Mead's symbolic interactionism, and the concept of emotion regulation, which explains how individuals recognize, manage, and express emotions through social interaction. The findings reveal that tahlilan functions not only as a religious ritual but also as a space for emotional learning by facilitating acceptance of loss, fostering empathy, regulating expressions of grief in accordance with social and religious norms, and providing collective emotional support. The interactions occurring during tahlilan reinforce collective consciousness, strengthen social relationships, and enhance social solidarity through the values of togetherness, mutual care, and cooperation. These findings demonstrate that tahlilan serves a broader role than merely a prayer ritual, functioning as a social mechanism that contributes to the development of emotional resilience and social cohesion within the Javanese–Malay community in Binjai Hulu.

Abstract

This study aims to address three questions: (1) what local wisdom elements can serve as the primary strengths for tourism development; (2) to what extent do existing tourism practices incorporate environmental sustainability and green business principles; and (3) how can an ideal tourism development model be designed to sustainably integrate green business and local wisdom. The study employs a mixed-methods approach, specifically exploratory library research. Data collection involved documentation, literature reviews, fieldwork, observations, and interviews, with informants selected through purposive and snowball sampling. The first two research questions were addressed using qualitative descriptive analysis, while the third utilized Design Science Research (DSR), beginning with descriptive statistics, Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA), and Structural Equation Modeling (SEM).The results indicate a high level of local wisdom potential at the Muaro Jambi Temple complex, spiritual-ritual values serve as the primary attraction, and the social capital of gotong royong (mutual cooperation) supports sustainability, although traditional knowledge and local craft production remain weak and require revitalization. SWOT analysis places the area in Quadrant I (Aggressive Strategy). Therefore, the recommended strategy is to strengthen existing green business practices while improving Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) regarding environmental carrying capacity. SEM analysis demonstrates that green business and local wisdom significantly influence sustainable tourism both directly and through community participation and tourism appeal with community participation acting as the most dominant pathway of influence. The resulting ideal model confirms that optimal tourism sustainability is achieved through a synergy of green business and local wisdom, reinforced by community participation.

Abstract

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) play a significant role in economic growth, employment generation, and poverty reduction. However, many MSMEs continue to face challenges related to managerial capability and market access, which limit their business performance. This study aims to analyze the influence of MSME development programs and marketing access on MSME performance. A quantitative research approach was employed using survey data collected from MSME owners. The data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) to examine the relationships among the research variables. The findings indicate that MSME development programs contribute positively to improving managerial and technical capabilities through training intensity, instructor quality, business consultation, participant involvement, and skill enhancement. Marketing access also has a positive effect on MSME performance by expanding market reach, increasing product visibility, and strengthening business competitiveness. Furthermore, the study reveals that both MSME development and marketing access simultaneously have a significant impact on business performance. These results suggest that sustainable capacity-building programs combined with broader marketing opportunities are essential for enhancing the productivity, profitability, and long-term sustainability of MSMEs. Therefore, government agencies and related stakeholders should strengthen integrated development strategies that support managerial improvement and market expansion to promote MSME growth and competitiveness in an increasingly dynamic business environment.

Abstract

Digital transformation has encouraged micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to adopt digital branding strategies to strengthen brand identity and enhance customer loyalty. However, implementing digital branding in emerging MSMEs remains challenging due to limited resources, digital competencies, and brand communication consistency. This study explores digital branding strategies for fostering customer loyalty at Kopi Pak Kopral, an emerging MSME in Pasuruan, Indonesia. A qualitative case study design was employed. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews with the business owner and social media manager, as well as open-ended questionnaires administered to customers, and analyzed using the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña. The findings indicate that digital branding was implemented through four key approaches: maintaining a consistent brand identity, developing storytelling around the product and local values, establishing interactive digital communication through social media and WhatsApp Business, and utilizing customer testimonials as social proof. These strategies strengthened brand trust, customer engagement, and customers’ emotional connections with the brand, thereby encouraging repeat purchases, recommendations, and loyalty. The study concludes that digital branding functions not merely as a promotional tool but also as a strategic means of developing long-term customer relationships. The findings offer practical implications for MSMEs seeking to optimize digital marketing strategies and contribute to the literature on digital branding in emerging MSMEs.

Abstract

This article examines the phenomenon of the "Inconstitutional Turn" in Indonesia as a manifestation of Executive Aggrandizement that threatens the core principles of democracy and constitutionalism. Using a case study approach, the study highlights practices of constitutional disobedience by law enforcement agencies that revive legal norms previously declared unconstitutional by the Constitutional Court. Specifically, it analyzes the institutional resistance toward Constitutional Court Decision No. 114/PUU-XXIII/2025 regarding the assignment of active police officers and Decision No. 20/PUU-XXI/2023 concerning the Prosecutor's authority to file for Judicial Review (Peninjauan Kembali). The author argues that reviving such norms through technical regulations represents a "legalistic autocracy" strategy designed to bypass judicial review and paralyze the system of checks and balances. The analysis indicates that this trend aligns with global patterns of Abusive Constitutionalism and Stealth Authoritarianism, as observed in nations such as Israel, Hungary, and El Salvador. The article concludes that the Inconstitutional Turn has shifted the national paradigm from the rule of law toward rule by law, where legal instruments are weaponized to expand executive power and instrumentalize the bureaucracy for electoral political interests. Consequently, while the integrity of constitutional courts remains vital, they face increasing vulnerability to systematic marginalization when confronted with regimes employing Constitutional Hardball tactics
