Abstract

Abstract: Violence, especially domestic violence (KDRT), is a violation of human rights. Human rights are a very sensitive matter in human life. Almost all countries have their own regulations to protect human rights, but they are often overlooked, especially regarding gender differences between men and women. Women are often considered inferior to men, so cases of domestic violence often arise. Violence in any form carried out for any reason is a form of crime that cannot be justified, therefore, no matter how small the violence committed, it can be reported as a criminal act that can be processed by law.Keywods: Legal Protection, Victims, Domestic Violence

Abstract

Nurse performance is influenced by various factors, both individual and organizational. Based on in-depth interviews conducted with five practicing nurses at the Daya Regional General Hospital (RSUD) in Makassar, several issues related to leadership style and nurse performance were identified. The findings indicate that the leadership style of nursing leaders is not yet fully perceived as effective by all practicing nurses. The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between leadership style and nurse performance. A cross-sectional design was used in this study. The study was conducted at the Daya Regional General Hospital (RSUD) in Makassar. The study was conducted in April 2025. The study population consisted of all 37 practicing nurses in the inpatient ward, who also became the study sample. The sampling technique used total sampling. The research instrument used a research questionnaire. Data analysis was performed using univariate and bivariate methods. The results showed a relationship between leadership style (p value: 0.045) and nurse performance. It is recommended that nurses understand the leadership style applied by the head of the ward to produce high-quality performance from practicing nurses at the hospital.         Keywords: Leadership, Performance, Nurses

Abstract

This study examines the relationship between comorbidities and depression in elderly patients with diabetes mellitus at Puskesmas Sei Langkai, Batam. The background highlights high cases of elderly diabetes mellitus (3,064 cases/4.93%) and elderly depression (52 cases/0.02%) in 2023, where comorbidities can increase depression risk, impacting physical, psychological, and social aspects. Method:A quantitative study with cross-sectional design involving 54 elderly samples selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using questionnaires and analyzed with the Kruskal-Wallis test. The majority of respondents (79.6%) had comorbidities, with hypertension being the highest (77.8%). About 63% suffered from diabetes mellitus for >2 years. Statistical tests showed a significant relationship between comorbidities and depression (p=0.049<0.05). Comorbidities increase the health burden on elderly diabetes mellitus patients and correlate with depression occurrence. These findings emphasize the importance of comprehensive health monitoring in the elderly, particularly detection and management of comorbidities to prevent or reduce depression risk. This information is useful for elderly patients and their families in holistic healthcare efforts. Keywords: Comorbidities, Depression, Diabetes Mellitus

Abstract

Complaint handling in hospitals plays an important role in maintaining the quality of medical services and improving patient satisfaction. Data from the Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) shows that over the past two years, patient complaints have increased by 15% in various health facilities. Hospitals with responsive complaint teams can increase patient satisfaction by up to 25%, which has a positive impact on the hospital's image. Data from the 2018 Basic Health Survey (Riskdas) shows that 40% of hospitals in Indonesia do not yet have consistent standard procedures for handling complaints. This study aims to analyze the implementation of complaint handling in hospitals by examining the perceptions and experiences of staff and patients in order to provide appropriate recommendations for improving the hospital complaint management system. The type of research used in this study is a mixed method with a cross-sectional research design. The results show that the stages of complaint handling are procedurally in place but have not been implemented consistently. Most officers stated that the reporting system was easy to use (75%), but only 25% had ever attended training. From the patient's perspective, the indicator with the highest satisfaction was the empathy and communication of staff (71.1%), while fairness in complaint resolution received the lowest score (58.9%). Bivariate analysis showed a significant relationship between perceptions of complaint handling and patient satisfaction (p=0.022; RP=2.784). The main obstacles for staff were high workloads and lack of training, while patients complained about lack of transparency and fear of voicing complaints. There is a perception gap between staff and patients regarding the complaint system. Strengthening training, workload management, and system transparency is essential to improve customer trust and satisfaction. Keywords: Handling Complaint, Service Quality

Abstract

Pretrial is a means of evaluating the investigation, inquiry, and prosecution process. The dynamics of criminal procedural law reform touch on the pretrial aspect to ensure due process of law. The principle of due process of law is a fundamental pillar in a state based on the rule of law that guarantees the protection of human rights, particularly in the criminal justice process. This article aims to analyze the principle of due process of law in the reform of criminal procedural law regarding the existence of pretrial. This research uses a normative juridical method with a statutory, conceptual, and comparative approach. The results of the discussion indicate that the principle of due process of law in the reform of criminal procedural law regarding the existence of pretrial still requires improvement, not only in the regulatory aspect regarding the object and subject of pretrial, especially in the aspect of pretrial organizers as the executor of authority. Integrity, professionalism, and uniformity of interpretation of pretrial are mandatory, so that the norms that aspire to realize due process of law do not lose their meaning in their orientation. Pretrial does not only function as a procedural instrument, but also as a substantive means to guarantee the protection of human rights, legal certainty, and justice in accordance with the principle of due process of law. Furthermore, the legal implications of the reform of criminal procedural law regarding the existence of pretrial proceedings open up space for both the object and subject of pretrial proceedings. However, there is potential for functional degradation if it does not address the administrative aspects, including the single judge and the duration of the trial. Pretrial proceedings are still implemented formally and are limited to purely procedural aspects without substantial testing. Keywords: Due Process of Law, Criminal Procedure Law, Pretrial

Abstract

Abstract: One of the most important stages in land acquisition for development in the public interest is the compensation mechanism. Within this mechanism, there is a stage known as deliberation for the determination of compensation. In many land acquisition cases, the deliberation process often fails to reach an agreement. This condition is caused by objections and refusals from rights holders regarding the amount or value of compensation determined by the government. This study describes the actual conditions of land acquisition implementation in Padang Pariaman Regency at the location of the Padang–Sicincin Toll Road Project. It explains the role of the Ministry of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/National Land Agency (ATR/BPN) Office as the technical implementer, the stages of land acquisition, and the compensation valuation process conducted by the Independent Appraisal Team.  The main findings indicate that the compensation value is widely rejected by the community because it is considered too low and does not include non-physical losses. The deliberation mechanism is also perceived as less participatory, thereby triggering conflicts. Nominative data, appraisal results, and field studies serve as concrete evidence of these issues. Based on the research results, this study analyzes the discrepancy between theory and practice in the implementation of compensation for toll road projects. The research identifies that the compensation mechanism has not fully reflected the principles of justice, transparency, and deliberation as regulated in the prevailing laws and regulations. Factors such as the dominant governmental approach, limited community participation, and the exclusion of non-physical compensation are identified as the main causes of conflict. This analysis is strengthened by interview findings and comparisons with positive law provisions.  Keywords: Compensation, Toll Road, Padang, Sicincin.Boedi Harsono, Hukum Agraria Indonesia: Sejarah Pembentukan Undang-Undang Pokok Agraria, Jakarta: Djambatan, 2008Boedi Harsono, Hukum Agraria Indonesia: Sejarah Pembentukan Undang-Undang Pokok Agraria, Djambatan, Jakarta, 2005Erna Dwi Lestari, Implementasi Kebijakan Pengadaan Tanah untuk Kepentingan Umum, Rajawali Press, Jakarta, 2015D. Abstract

Abstract: Hypertension affects approximately 1.3 billion people worldwide. In Indonesia, hypertension ranks third among non-communicable diseases, with approximately 650 million cases, and is a major cause of morbidity and mortality. In Batam City, the number of individuals suffering from hypertension reaches 243,226. Hypertension is caused by several modifiable risk factors, one of which is lifestyle, particularly the implementation of CERDIK health behavior. This study aimed to determine the relationship between lifestyle and the implementation of CERDIK behavior and the incidence of hypertension among adult patients in Buliang Subdistrict, the working area of UPT Batu Aji Public Health Center, Batam City, in 2024.  This study employed a case–control design. The sample consisted of 67 cases and 67 controls. The sampling technique used was non-probability sampling with a purposive sampling method. The results of the Chi-square test showed a p-value of 0.009 with an odds ratio (OR) of 2.654, indicating that H₀ was rejected and Hₐ was accepted. Thus, it can be concluded that there is a significant relationship between lifestyle and the implementation of CERDIK behavior and the incidence of hypertension among adults in Buliang Subdistrict, the working area of UPT Batu Aji Public Health Center, Batam City, in 2024. The OR value of 2.654 indicates that individuals in the control group (non-hypertensive) with poor implementation of CERDIK lifestyle behavior have a 2.654 times higher risk of developing hypertension.  The findings of this study can serve as valuable information for healthcare workers to provide education on the management of non-communicable diseases, particularly hypertension, to all individuals accessing healthcare facilities, encouraging the adoption of healthy lifestyles as modifiable risk factors for hypertension.  Keywords: Hypertension; Adult age; Lifestyle; CERDIK behavior.
