Abstract

This study aims to analyze the content of the textbook al-‘Arabiyyah li al-Dārisiin for twelfth-grade students used at Madrasah Aliyah Negeri 1 Lamongan, by examining its conformity based on the content analysis categories developed by Rushdi Ahmad Thu‘aimah. This framework was chosen due to its more comprehensive scope compared to other analytical models. The study employed a qualitative approach using content analysis as its method. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings reveal that the textbook al-‘Arabiyyah li al-Dārisiin contains a foreword by the author, a vocabulary list, and instructional materials organized into five thematic units. Each unit includes four language skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Overall, the content of this textbook is largely aligned with Rushdi Ahmad Thu‘aimah’s analytical categories, particularly in terms of general data, book layout, and material characteristics. However, several components are lacking, such as the absence of a teacher’s guide, evaluation instruments, and supporting audio recordings.

The results of this research indicate that this institution has been well managed in teacher recruitment. This is done through four steps in total, which are: 1) Preparation; by preparing all the equipment for recruitment. 2) Implementation; by testing registrants from different types of tests. 3) Recruitment; by appointing accepted registrants as teachers according to the required admission requirements such as the educational course. 4) Evaluation, by observing the principal or others towards the education of the new teacher. After the teacher has been hired, the course takes care of the teacher; by specifying the provision of teacher care and professional development so that teachers are always motivated to improve their abilities in an academic and non-academic field. By managing recruitment on these patterns, qualified teachers are produced to teach Arabic using high quality human resources in Al-Azhar Bari Kediri Course.

Abstract

Managing Arabic language instruction for non-native speakers requires strategies that integrate pedagogical clarity, cultural sensitivity, and adaptive learning tools. This study aims to examine the management practices applied in the Arabic program at Al-Kindi Association and how these practices contribute to effective language acquisition. The background of this research stems from the increasing demand for structured Arabic education programs that meet both academic and practical communication needs of diverse learners. The study emphasizes three core areas of program management: curriculum design, instructional methods, and evaluation systems. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, data were gathered through in-depth interviews with program coordinators and instructors, classroom observations, and documentation of learning materials and evaluation instruments. The findings reveal that the program’s management is rooted in learner-centered planning, with a focus on communicative competence, blended learning, and reflective evaluation. Key strategies such as the integration of digital platforms, peer-based teaching, and culturally immersive learning activities contribute significantly to learner motivation and achievement. These findings suggest that a holistic and adaptive management model can enhance the quality and sustainability of Arabic language education for non-native speakers.

Abstract

Assessment is a critical component of the educational process, serving as a means of evaluating student learning and ensuring the overall quality and continuity of instruction. Two major approaches commonly used in educational assessment are norm-referenced assessment (NRA) and criterion-referenced assessment (CRA). This study aims to investigate the implementation of norm-referenced assessment in the context of Arabic language instruction at SMK Muhammadiyah 2 Malang, Indonesia. Employing a qualitative research design, the study utilized the Miles and Huberman interactive model for data collection and analysis. The participants consisted of 12th-grade students and Arabic language teachers. The findings reveal that although teachers are generally familiar with the concept of NRA, both norm-referenced and criterion-referenced assessment approaches have not been explicitly or systematically applied in the classroom. These results suggest the need for increased awareness and training in assessment methodologies to improve instructional effectiveness and student evaluation.ied in this class.

Abstract

In the face of declining student motivation in language learning, particularly in Arabic instruction at the secondary education level, innovative curriculum models are urgently required. This study explores the implementation of Problem-Based Learning (PBL) curriculum management as a strategic response to enhance student motivation in Arabic language learning. The research aims to analyze how curriculum planning, organizing, implementation, and evaluation based on PBL principles contribute to learner engagement and active participation. Employing a qualitative descriptive approach, data were obtained through interviews, observations, and documentation at MA Ma’arif NU 1 Kemranjen. The results show that PBL-based curriculum management effectively boosts learning motivation by presenting real-life contextual problems, fostering collaborative learning environments, and applying continuous assessment that encourages student autonomy. These findings affirm that PBL not only enriches the learning process but also supports the development of critical thinking and problem-solving abilities necessary for mastering Arabic. It is concluded that structured implementation of PBL in curriculum management is a promising path to revitalize motivation and learning outcomes in Arabic education.

Abstract

Teaching speaking skills in secondary education requires approaches that not only enhance verbal fluency but also align with students' social and emotional development. This study aims to evaluate the implementation of interpersonal intelligence-based strategies in teaching speaking skills and their effectiveness in improving students' oral communication competence. The background of this research stems from the need to develop speaking instruction methods that are interactive, student-centered, and responsive to individual communication styles. By emphasizing interpersonal intelligence, such as empathy, collaboration, and effective peer interaction, teachers are expected to foster a more engaging and emotionally supportive learning environment. This research employs a qualitative descriptive approach, collecting data through classroom observations, in-depth interviews with English teachers and students, and documentation of speaking activities. The findings reveal that the use of interpersonal strategies like role-playing, group discussions, and peer feedback significantly increases student participation, confidence, and speaking fluency. In practice, these strategies also reduce students’ anxiety and promote a stronger sense of connection within the classroom. The implications of this study suggest that integrating interpersonal intelligence in teaching speaking can serve as a powerful pedagogical foundation to support holistic communication skills development in secondary education.

Abstract

PAI teachers play a critical role in shaping Indonesian Islam. However, many PAI students lack sufficient skills in reading primary Islamic texts in Arabic, which is essential for their academic growth. To address this, the AARAVI (Proficient in Reading Books) application was developed as an Android-based learning tool to support Islamic Studies students in improving their reading skills. The research employed the ADDIE model, encompassing five stages: Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The study involved 20 students from the 2020 batch of the Islamic Religious Education program at UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang, enrolled in the Qira'atul Kutub course. Data were collected through interviews, literature reviews, questionnaires, tests, and documentation. Data analysis techniques included descriptive analysis, quantitative analysis using percentage-based questionnaires, and statistical tests such as paired sample t-tests or Wilcoxon rank tests to evaluate pre- and post-test results. The findings demonstrate that AARAVI is a highly effective learning medium. Validation results from material experts yielded a score of 89%, media experts 83%, and student feedback 87%, all indicating high validity. Furthermore, there was a significant improvement in students’ reading abilities after using AARAVI, confirming its effectiveness. The application is thus deemed suitable for enhancing the reading skills of Islamic Education students, particularly at the beginner (mubtadi’in) level.
