Abstract

Abstract: This article aims to find the existence of Emotional Intelligence as a servant's response in Habakkuk's paradigm shift towards God based on his book. This research shows that Habakkuk as a servant facing a crisis, experienced a paradigm shift towards God with excellent emotional management. The method used is thematic analysis modeling the doctrine of God. The results of the study found that EI, specifically stress management, decision making and Habakkuk's emotional expression were very good in responding to his condition. This finding is based on Habakkuk's paradigm shift, which begins in chapter 1 where his emotions are disturbed so that he questions God's justice and shows good stress management. Chapter 2 Habakkuk made the decision to keep waiting for God's answer and accept His decree. Chapter 3 Habakkuk shows emotional expression by offering prayers and adoration to God and closes his book with a firm statement of faith. This confirms that Habakkuk experienced a paradigm shift regarding God, from doubting and questioning God's justice to exalting God and triumphing in God. Keywords: Servant, Habakkuk, Emotional Intelligence, Paradigm

Abstract

Abstract: Online worship has rapidly emerged as a prevalent ministry approach in recent years. Many churches opt for broadcasting services via YouTube for virtual worship. However, challenges arise as songwriters request royalties for their songs featured in these online worship broadcasts. This can curtail song selection, consequently impacting service quality for congregants. This study explores the Christian ethical dimensions of royalty collection for religious songs in online worship, utilizing a literature review methodology. Its goal is to offer theological guidance to both songwriters and churches. The research scrutinizes influential academic journals, conducts a comprehensive analysis of biblical principles, and assesses Indonesia's relevant regulations. The primary aim of this study is to establish an ethical Christian perspective for composers and the church when addressing the intricate matter of royalty imposition when using religious songs in online worship. Although labor is a divine command for meeting human needs, Christians perceive work as an avenue to glorify God. Hence, seeking royalties for religious songs used in online worship might not align with this principle. This notion resonates with the non-commercial essence of worship. Moreover, it is imperative for churches to ensure that worship videos disseminated through platforms like YouTube and other social media retain their sanctity by avoiding monetization and commercialization. Keywords: online worship, religious song, royalty

Abstract

Abstract: Violence in the Christian family is the most widespread type of gender-based violence that draws attention from the Church. Domestic violence is an act of hostility toward God. This study seeks to explore domestic violence in Papua from a Christian standpoint. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study method. Researchers used in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation studies to collect data in this study. The research found two things: First, domestic violence is clear evidence of violating the sacred promise of marriage. Through the research results, it was found that in the indigenous Papuan community in Hinekombe village, there are traditions regarding male dominance over women and tolerance of the use of force by men. Secondly, God cares deeply about Christian marriage. God emphasizes that it is in the family that one can shape his or her personality and build a relationship with God. Marriage is "an honourable treasure ordained and blessed by God," a model of the relationship between Christ and the Church, and a union meant for "mutual harmony" where "men and women can please each other, not hurt. Keywords: Sacred Vows of Marriage, Tainted, Christian Domestic Violence, Hinekombe Village, Papua.

Abstract

Abstract: This research examines the changing landscape of Christian life. Today, Christians are at a crossroads where one path offers comfort, a world sheltered from the tumultuous secular world's complexities. The other path invites Christians to engage in the secular world, transcend selfishness, and face its challenges in the public arena. This research aims to strengthen the Church's understanding of divine calling and purpose in secular society. This research uses a qualitative descriptive methodology investigation to explore the theological work of Johann Baptist Metz. This research starts from Metz's existential thought, which views the present as the Church's eschatological time. This study explores Metz's concept of Christian time, its profound implications for eschatological ideas, and reveals its relevance in the modern context. Thematic analysis, the foundation of qualitative research, distills and presents research findings. Research findings show that Metz views the importance of the human-God relationship as the basis for the existence of the Church. The Church is an interconnected entity. This relational dimension becomes the identity of the Church. Just as the Incarnation of Christ marked the entry of the Divine into human history to establish a deep relationship, the Church stands as the eternal embodiment of Christ's presence in the world. It serves as a channel for the ongoing encounter between God and humanity, placing itself at the intersection of the sacred and the secular. The Church's Christian eschatological experience finds expression in grassroots mission work, where compassion for the poor and marginalized is paramount. The Church's willingness to adapt and develop its theological perspective reflects its unwavering commitment to facing the challenges of the contemporary world, thereby becoming a beacon of empowerment and life transformation.

Abstract

Integrating the concept of Ikigai from the Japanese tradition with Christian theology in the context of vocational ministry and faith formation emphasizes the balance between passion, profession, mission, and vocation. Ikigai strengthens the internalization of Christian values in everyday life, especially in work and ministry. In the era of globalization and secularization, the fragmentation of values is a challenge that makes it difficult for many Christians to align their spiritual calling with the demands of modern and professional life. Ikigai offers a holistic approach that unites spiritual and worldly aspects, giving new meaning to work to fulfill the divine calling. By applying Ikigai in Christian religious education, individuals can find a balance between work, faith, and service to others. This helps people live a more meaningful life calling and strengthens their commitment to the faith and mission that God has set so that professional and spiritual lives support each other.

Abstract

John Calvin viewed the unity of the church not based on church doctrine and background, but rather as one church, one faith, one God, a confession of the Apostles' faith and hope and love. The unity between churches is evident in agreements in the field of faith and Church order and in actions to unite and reconcile people in seeking solutions to social problems. The church must be united in this effort so that the Christian witness is truly authoritative. However, the development of a world that is so complex that it has resulted in the emergence of many church sects, differences in theological views, differences in understanding of the contents of the Bible, and the emergence of church egoism have become problems for uniting churches. This also happens in churches in Ciranjang, such as social friction, social jealousy, claims about the truth of the Bible, vilifying each other, considering their doctrine to be the most correct, inviting congregations to change sects, and so on. These incidents made the church seem closed and unwilling to mingle with other churches so ecumenical church programs to strengthen church unity were difficult to implement. The method used in this research is qualitative. The research results show that Calvin's concept is implemented in churches through the resilience of church leaders, congregational renewal, and restoration of relationships between churches. Unifying differences in the ecumenical movement is the key to achieving perfection in Christ the Head of the Church.

Abstract

The encounter between Christianity and Toraja culture has shaped the identity of Toraja Christian communities. However, Toraya Ma’kombongan's formulation revealed the fact that the hybrid identity resulting from this encounter has contributed to crises in various aspects. It appears that there is a void in this encounter filled with values such as materialism and hedonism. Therefore, this research aims to reexamine the mutual influence between Toraja culture and Christianity by selecting Mappa'-Buakayu as the research locus. This area was chosen for two reasons. First, Mappa'-Buakayu is known to be very open to Christianity. Second, the region is experiencing a cultural resurgence. This research employs qualitative research methods through fieldwork and literature review. Specifically, Robert J. Schreiter's map of local theology will be used to analyze the mutual influence between Christian theology and local theology that has shaped and influenced the lives of Toraja Christians in the Mappa'-Buakayu region. The results of the research indicate that the resurgence of interest in Toraja culture is triggered by several factors, namely tourism agendas, modernization, and an increasingly pluralistic society. These factors have a significant impact on redefining the identity of Toraja Christians in the Buakayu-Mappa' region while shaping the local face of the Toraja Church's theology.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the relationship between the fulfillment of spiritual needs and depression levels among members of the Coram Deo Christian community in Malang. A quantitative research design with a survey methodology was employed, involving 30 community members. The results reveal a significant negative correlation between the fulfillment of spiritual needs and depression levels, with a correlation coefficient of ? = -0.510 (p = 0.004). These findings suggest that higher levels of spiritual fulfillment are associated with lower levels of depression, indicating that spirituality may act as a protective factor against depression. Consequently, integrating the fulfillment of spiritual needs and community support within a holistic approach may serve as an effective strategy for the prevention and management of depression, particularly within migrant student communities.

Abstract

This article aims to explore the intersection between existentialist philosophy and Christian theology, particularly in understanding the limits of human existence and the role of transcendence. It highlights how existentialist themes such as freedom, responsibility, and individuality contribute to a deeper understanding of faith and the human condition. By examining the thoughts of key existentialist thinkers such as Søren Kierkegaard, Jean-Paul Sartre, Paul Tillich, and Karl Theodor Jaspers, the study analyzes their relevance within the framework of Christian faith. Furthermore, it discusses how individuals seek meaning in life amidst uncertainty and existential emptiness, and how transcendental experiences can offer a sense of purpose beyond mere religious formality. Using a qualitative method through a library research approach, this article presents a theological perspective on existentialism. Ultimately, it argues that engaging with existentialist thought can enrich theological reflection and foster meaningful dialogue between existentialism and theology in addressing the profound questions of human existence.
