Abstract

The purpose of this activity is to look at the design and implementation of an innovative learning media for high school (SMA/SMK) and special needs (SLB) teachers in South Sumatra, with a focus on the integration of Augmented Reality (AR) and the growing notion of the Metaverse. Traditional teaching methods are developing to accommodate the different requirements of students as technology advances, and this project tries to bridge the gap by offering cutting-edge technologies to instructors. The activity method used is a combination of lectures and workshops. The study digs into the creation of a learning media platform that uses augmented reality and the Metaverse to improve teaching tactics and engage students in a more immersive and interactive learning environment. Teachers can develop dynamic classes that go beyond traditional classroom experiences by mixing various tools, fostering a deeper grasp of complicated subjects. The influence of this augmented learning strategy on student engagement, information retention, and overall educational outcomes is discussed in the essay. Furthermore, it explores the obstacles and opportunities involved with integrating AR and the Metaverse into the South Sumatra educational scene, providing insights for educators, policymakers, and stakeholders striving to improve educational quality through technology innovation. This study adds to the continuing discussion about the transition of education in the digital era, with a focus on the local context of South Sumatra. The results obtained are increased understanding among teachers regarding the use of AR and Metaverse in learning at the SMA/SMK/SLB level.

Abstract

Goats are one of the small ruminants as meat and milk producers (dual-purpose), but cow's milk is widely sold in the market. Goat milk is no less nutritious than cow's milk; besides having an advantage in protein content, goat milk also contains more vitamins A and B (especially riboflavin and niacin). One of the goats widely cultivated by farmers and utilized as a source of animal protein, meat, and milk is the Ettawa crossbred goat. As researchers have widely reported, the potential of Ettawa crossbred goats is that milk producers are still very diverse, ranging between 0.45 and 2.2 kg/head/day. This is generally caused by maintenance management, which still needs to be improved. The purpose of this service is to counsel Azhar Farm farms on the management of raising Ettawa crossbred goats to get maximum productivity. The methods used are counseling, training, coaching, discussion, and evaluation of service activities. The activity results include improving farmers' ability to apply the management of raising Ettawa crossbred goats, which are dairy-type goats (milk producers), and increasing their productivity. It is hoped that this activity can motivate farmers to develop their livestock business to improve livestock health, increase population, increase production, and increase income for farmers.

Abstract

This service activity aims to help Kak Well's Smart Home Tutoring record attendance data that was previously done manually. Manual attendance recording could be more efficient, often produces inaccurate and non-real-time reports and results in difficulties in monitoring employee and student attendance. The solution provided by the Service Team is to develop an attendance application using Microsoft Access. This application has easy-to-use features, including a main page for navigation, employee and student data input, daily attendance input, and preparation of attendance reports for employees and students. With these features, the attendance application can replace inefficient manual methods and increase the accuracy of attendance data. This service activity results in the implementation of the attendance application at Kak Well's Smart Home Tutoring. This application allows attendance recording to be carried out better, more effectively, and efficiently than the previous manual method. Apart from that, the service team also provides training and assistance in operating the application that has been created, ensuring that the Kak Well Smart Home Tutoring staff can use it well. In conclusion, the developed attendance application succeeded in increasing the efficiency and accuracy of recording attendance at Kak Well's Smart Home Tutoring. The training ensures that the application can be used optimally by the Tutoring team, making the attendance process more organized and reliable.

Abstract

Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a novel disease previously unidentified in humans. The COVID-19 pandemic has necessitated that all medical personnel and health workers wear personal protective equipment (PPE) while serving patients. The pandemic has caused a global shortage of PPE, especially in Indonesia, leading to the closure of many health service facilities, including several in the Kuranji District, to prevent COVID-19 transmission. In response, the community service team of the Faculty of Medicine, Andalas University (FK UNAND), initiated a PPE procurement project for health workers. This activity aimed to supply PPE to medical personnel at the First Level Health Facility (FLHF) in Kuranji District, Padang City. The PPE, including masks, face shields, and gowns/hazmats, was produced following a feasibility study to ensure safety for health workers. The procurement involved collaboration between the FK UNAND community service team and Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). The team designed models of masks, face shields, and gowns/hazmats that met health safety standards, sourced the necessary materials, and passed these designs and materials to MSMEs for production. Prior to production, a meeting with MSMEs was held to discuss the designs. Eight MSMEs were selected to produce the PPE over approximately one month. A total of 400 masks, 180 face shields, and 20 gowns were produced and distributed to 8 FLHFs in Kuranji sub-district. The handover of PPE was met with an extraordinary response from health workers, as it significantly addressed the PPE shortage and allowed FLHFs in Kuranji District to resume operations and provide medical services to the community.

Abstract

The need for energy, especially electricity, is fundamental and essential in daily life. This is particularly true for communities in rural areas that rely on fossil fuel-powered machines for their work, such as milling rice into flour. One such community is the farming group in Kampong Ngalau Randah, Solok Selatan, West Sumatra. This activity aims to realize the construction of a small-scale renewable energy technology building, specifically a pico-hydro power plant using a steel waterwheel that functions as both a power generator and a production machine/flour mill driver. The target partners for this activity are the residents of Kampung Ngalau Randah, Jorong Manggih, which is an isolated village in Kenagarian Pakan Rabaa Timur, Solok Selatan Regency, West Sumatra. The methods of this activity include surveys and experiments, starting with a potential survey at the partner's location followed by outreach, fabrication of the waterwheel components and assembly in the city of Padang, dismantling the old waterwheel at the partner's location, and transporting the new waterwheel unit to the partner's location, which is 180 km away. The outcome of this activity has successfully resulted in the construction and donation of a waterwheel unit for the local community. In the future, it is hoped that the development of this waterwheel-driven power plant in Kampung Ngalau Randah will serve as a pilot project that can inspire other village communities to build power plants in their respective areas.

Abstract

Household organic waste can be used as raw material to produce Liquid Organic Fertilizer (LOF) as an effort to reduce the amount of solid waste disposed of at Temporary Disposal Sites (TPS). The organic fertilizer produced can be reused in home gardens, such as for ornamental or fruit plants. In addition to being used as fertilizer, LOF can be used as a starter for making other organic fertilizers or as a decomposer in the production of compost. The community empowerment activities in making LOF aim to raise awareness of the potential of household waste as a valuable resource. Through a participatory approach, the community is encouraged to actively engage in the process of converting waste into LOF, which benefits agriculture and the environment. The empowerment and community development activities regarding the application of simple LOF production were conducted at RT 03 RW 09, Tanjung Berok, Kurao Pagang Sub-District, Padang City. The activities included socialization, education, and practical training on converting household organic waste into LOF using buckets as containers. As a result of these activities, the community gained increased knowledge in processing household organic waste into LOF and Microorganism Liquid (MOL), which can be used for fruit and ornamental plants in their yards and residential areas. The attendees realized the importance of protecting the environment by managing their household waste and avoiding disposing of waste into water channels.

Abstract

The aim of this activity is to introduce Eco-enzyme and its derivative products to the public through the Hajatan Betawi academic exhibition with the hope of increasing public awareness and knowledge about the benefits of Eco-enzymes especially of environmental sustainability. The subjects are visitors who come to the exhibition. The method used is PAR. Eco-enzyme has been prepared 3 months in advance to be used as a base material for making solid soap, dish soap and liquid fertilizer. The method is divided into four stages: planning, preparation, observation and implementation. Two strategies were carried out, namely offering products in front of the exhibition stand and going around. Based on the results, more and more people are familiar with Eco-enzyme and the benefits of its derivative products. Several visitors who are interested in looking around and asking questions about Eco-enzyme products. The results of this activity showed an increase in knowledge and interest in Eco-enzyme and its derivative products. Many visitors expressed interest in trying to make their own Eco-enzyme at home and applying its derivative products. Academic exhibitions like this are very effective in raising public awareness of the environment. The interactive and educational approach proved to be able to attract interest and provide a deeper understanding. The conclusion through academic exhibitions can open the insights of exhibition visitors to produce similar products based on the fermentation process of easily degradable organic materials. It is hoped that similar activities can continue to be carried out to support environmental conservation.

Abstract

The Lubuek Kabau Sepakat farmer group is one of the farmer groups that actively cultivates strawberry plants. However, the strawberry production obtained is not optimal because of the lack of knowledge related to organic fertilizers and the source of planting material used is not clear about the origin of the variety because it is only vegetatively propagated from the previous plant. Therefore, the objectives of this service activity are 1) to educate farmer groups about ecoenzymes so that they can be used as one of the organic fertilizers to be applied to strawberry plants; 2) to provide seedlings of superior strawberry varieties so that the quantity and quality of strawberry production can increase. The activity was carried out at the Lubuk Kabau Sepakat Farmer Group, Nagari Batang Barus, Solok Regency, West Sumatra. The stages of activities carried out include: identification of partner needs and problems, preparation of programs that are in accordance with the needs / problems of partners, implementation of activities in accordance with the plans that have been made, then monitoring and evaluation. The result of this activity is that the partners' knowledge or skills related to ecoenzyme have increased so that they are able to independently produce ecoenzyme and will apply ecoenzyme to strawberry plants. A total of 150 strawberry seedlings of the premium Sweet Japanense variety have been delivered to partners so that the quantity and quality of strawberry production can increase. The results of the activity evaluation showed that 95% of the participants were very satisfied with the activities carried out by the service team. As many as 85% of participants said that this training activity was very useful in helping to reduce organic waste in the form of fruit peel residue. The relevance of themes and materials is in accordance with the needs and can be applied in everyday life.

Abstract

The development gap between urban and rural areas has triggered the birth of the digital village program. The purpose of this service is to rebuild the digital ecosystem in Lamahu Village through various innovations that support village digitalization and improve access to information. The methods used include observation, interviews, village needs analysis, and technology usage training. This activity lasted for four months, focusing on the development and implementation of relevant technological solutions for the village community. During this service, five main projects were successfully developed: (1) The web-based application DIGICORE LAMAHU to enhance information access and facilitate various services in the village, (2) The Lamahu village map as a means of providing information on the village's territory and infrastructure, (3) A village profile video as a promotional medium for the village's potential, (4) A policy brief providing policy recommendations to the village government, and (5) Digitalization training for SMEs to support the development of micro, small, and medium enterprises in the village. This service ran well and produced various beneficial products. Direct interaction with the Lamahu Village community broadened insights into local social and economic realities. The sustainability of this program requires ongoing support from the local government and capacity building through advanced training. Active participation of the community is also crucial for the success and sustainability of this program. The project's results are expected to facilitate public services in Lamahu Village and serve as a model for the digitalization of other villages in Gorontalo Province and Indonesia.
