Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of IB frequency using different simple aspirator on fertility, weight loss and hatchability of Payakumbuh  duck (Anas platyrhynchos domestication) eggs. This study used 8 male and 20 female ducks, 90% egg production. In this study, all hatched the hatched eggs. This study used an experimental method with a completely randomized design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 5 replications. The treatments consisted of: P1 is 1 x 2 days, P2 is 1 x 4 days, P3 is 1 x 6 days, P4 is 1 x 8 days; the parameters observed were fertility, weight loss and hatchability. The results of the analysis of variance showed that different AI frequencies had a significant effect (P < 0.05) on the fertility of hatching eggs, but had no significant effect (P > 0.05) on weight loss and hatchability. It can be concluded that P2 had a significant effect (P < 0.05) on fertility because fertile eggs were higher than other treatments. The characteristics of Payakumbuh ducks (Anas platyrhynchos domestication) spermatozoa are milky white and yellowish white, thick and watery consistency, specific odor, volume 0.24±0.05 ml, pH 7.37±0.51, mass movement +, ++ and +++, live percentage 79.06±3.68%, concentration 2.342 billion cells/ml, motility 75.00±7.56% and abnormality 12.06±0.82%. The results of the analysis of variance showed that different AI frequencies had a significant effect (P < 0.05) on the fertility of hatching eggs, but had no significant effect (P > 0.05) on weight loss and hatchability. The frequency of IB 1 x 4 days had the highest fertility rate, namely 67.72 ± 7.99%. A simple Aspirator can function properly with the need for repairs and upgrades in several parts of the tool such as current source, and fan capacity

Abstract

Program pengabdian masyarakat dilaksanakan di kelompok tani Sago Pratama yang beralamat di Jorong Sibaladuang, Nagari Sungai Kamuyang, Kecamatan Luak, Kabupaten Lima Puluh Kota. Program ini bertujuan untuk mengenalkan dan menerapkan teknologi pengolahan susu pada peternakan rakyat. Selama ini sebagian peternak sudah melakukan pengolahan susu secara mandiri tanpa adanya binaan dari perguruan tinggi maupun pemerintah daerah. Pengolahan tersebut terkendala karena keterampilan peternak yang masih terbatas serta belum memiliki standar pedoman yang baku dalam produk olahan susu. Susu segar yang diperoleh dari peternakan seringkali tidak terjual habis kepada konsumen. Peternak melakukan proses pembekuan susu sehingga berdampak terhadap penurunan harga jual. Solusi yang ditawarkan untuk mengatasi permasalahan ini adalah dengan melakukan pengolahan susu menjadi produk kefir aneka sari buah. Metode penyuluhan dan pendampingan berupa pelatihan diterapkan untuk memudahkan difusi iptek kepada peternak. Pelaksanaan program pengabdian ini berdampak positif kepada peternak. Peternak mampu mengadopsi Iptek yang di sampaikan oleh tim pengabdi. Hasilnya peternak memiliki keterampilan mengolah susu menjadi kefir sari buah yang memiliki masa simpan lebih lama, kaya manfaat untuk kesehatan serta memiliki nilai jual yang lebih tinggi bila dibandingkan dengan susu segar. Usaha pengolahan susu kefir dengan sari buah ini diharapkan terlaksana secara terus menerus dan mampu meningkatkan pendapatan peternak.

Abstract

Program pengabdian masyarakat dilaksanakan pada peternakan itik yang berlokasi di Nagari Sungai Kamuyang, Kabupaten Limapuluh Kota. Usaha peternakan itik pedaging ini masih dikelola secara tradisional yaitu berupa perpaduan antara sistem perkandangan dan umbaran. Kondisi perkandangan yang memprihatinkan dan belum memadai merupakan kendala utama yang dihadapi peternak itik. Peternak melakukan umbaran pada persawahan yang ada di lingkungan sekitar kandang. Ternak itik dilepas di pagi hari dan kembali ke kandang disore harinya. Kondisi atap kandang yang bocor, pencahayaan yang buruk dan lantai tanah yang lembab menjadi penyebab ternak itik mudah terserang penyakit yang dapat menurunkan produktivitas. Kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk memperbaiki manajemen sistem pemeliharaan ternak itik melalui renovasi kandang. Metode kegiatan yang dilakukan dalam pengabdian ini adalah pemberdayaan masyarakat partisipatif meliputi penyuluhan, pendampingan atau pembinaan. Pelaksanaan kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat berjalan dengan baik dan mendapatkan respon positif dari peternak. Kegiatan pengabdian dalam rangka merenovasi kandang ternak itik ini mampu mengatasi masalah peternak dalam hal penanganan penyakit ternak dan meningkatkan produktivitas ternak.

Abstract

The laying duck farming business in Nagari Surian is generally managed traditionally. Ducks are released in the morning and return to the cage in the afternoon and there are farmers who keep their ducks moving according to the rice harvest time in the local area. Maintenance management that has not been managed properly and the lack of knowledge of farmers are the main obstacles faced at the activity location so that the productivity of ducks is still very low. This activity aims to identify these problems and find solutions by developing appropriate programs for the next three years. The method of activities carried out in this activity is through online and offline discussions and consultations. This program is implemented on a people's duck farm located in Nagari Surian, Pantai Cermin District, Solok Regency. Activities are carried out by discussing with duck farmers to find out the obstacles experienced and then developing programs to overcome these problems. From the program that has been prepared, it is hoped that the program can be implemented properly so that it can overcome the problems of breeders and can increase the local duck population and make Nagari Surian as one of the producers of duck eggs in West Sumatra Province.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to increase the nutritional content of brown seaweed type Turbinaria murayana by using fermentation methods using different local microorganisms (MOL) as ingredients for poultry feed. The material used is brown seaweed type Turbinaria murayana taken from Sungai Nipah Beach, Pesisir Selatan Regency, West Sumatra Province and MOL as an inoculum. The study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with six treatments and four replications. The treatment was fermentation using different MOLs, namely No MOL (Control), Bamboo Shoot MOL, Rice MOL, Fruit MOL, Vegetable MOL and Banana Weevil MOL. The results showed that fermentation of brown seaweed type Turbinaria murayana using different MOL had a very significant effect (P≤0.01) on the levels of dry matter, crude fibre, crude protein and crude fat. The best improvement in the nutritional quality of fermented Turbinaria murayana seaweed was found in the fermentation treatment using fruit MOL with the nutritional content of 95.17% dry matter, 5.27% crude fiber, 21.43% crude protein, and 2.41% crude fat.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian rumput laut (Turbinaria murayana) yang telah difermentasi menggunakan Mikroorganisme Lokal (MOL) dari limbah buah dalam ransum puyuh petelur (Coturnix-coturnix japonica). Penelitian menggunakan puyuh petelur umur 36 minggu dengan rata-rata produksi telur 65% sebanyak 200 ekor dan rumput laut (Turbinaria murayana) yang telah difermentasi menggunakan MOL buah serta bahan-bahan penyusun ransum lainnya seperti jagung giling, dedak halus, tepung ikan, bungkil kedelai, corn glutean meal (CGM), tepung batu dan top mix. Rancangan yang digunakan adalah rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) yang terdiri dari 5 perlakuan dan 4 kali ulangan. Perlakuan berupa level pemberian Turbinaria murayana fermentasi MOL buah berbeda dalam ransum (0, 5, 10, 15, dan 20%). Parameter yang diamati adalah konsumsi ransum, produksi telur harian, berat telur, massa telur, dan konversi ransum. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan pengaruh berbeda sangat nyata (P≤0,01) terhadap konsumsi ransum, massa telur, konversi ransum dan produksi telur harian, serta berbeda tidak nyata (P≥0,05) terhadap berat telur. Turbinaria murayana fermentasi dapat dijadikan sebagai bahan pakan untuk menggantikan penggunaan dedak halus dan menurunkan penggunaan jagung giling, tepung ikan dan bungkil kedelai dalam ransum pada level pemberian 20% dengan rata-rata konsumsi ransum 19,51 gram/ekor/hari, produksi telur harian 57,19%, berat telur 9,42 gram/butir, massa telur 4,31 gram/butir, dan konversi ransum 4,53.

Abstract

Ashar Farm is a goat farming business in Balai Cacang Village, North Payakumbuh District, Payakumbuh City, West Sumatra, Indonesia. It was established in 2020 with a starting population of 30 goats. An intensive maintenance system has been applied. The condition of the farm is currently experiencing a population decline; as many as 17 goats are kept. The population decline is due to a lack of appetite for livestock, resulting in death. So far, the farmer provides only forage without adding appetite-enhancing supplements such as vitamin B complex as animal feeding. It assumes that there needs to be more nutrition for the goats. On the other hand, a Vitamin B complex can increase livestock productivity—the community engagement activity aimed to provide knowledge and skills of breeders about administering Vitamin B complex. The method of this activity was carried out by socialization and demonstrations using the Vitamin B complex as an additive in feed. As a result of this activity, Ashar Farm farmers gain new knowledge to overcome the lack of appetite for livestock and how to inject vitamin B complex into the goats so that their livestock business can be more productive.

Abstract

This activity aimed to empower the Saiyo Sakato livestock group in Nagari Kambang Barat, Kabupaten Pesisir Selatan, by optimising the management of Kampung Unggul Balitbangtan (KUB) chicken with local feed innovation and simpler hatching technology. The main focus was on developing local feed innovation and applying more straightforward hatching technology. The methods used included extension, training, and intensive assistance, with the livestock group being guided in creating a feed formula and demonstrating how to make an egg incubator. The results of this service showed that applying a feed formula containing local feed ingredients such as rice bran, corn, soybean meal, and fish meal could increase the productivity of KUB chickens, significantly reduce feed costs, and replace the use of commercial feed. Furthermore, the creation of egg incubators by members of the livestock group could increase hatching efficiency and contribute to the sustainable increase of the KUB chicken population in Nagari Kambang Barat. In addition, this activity also successfully enhanced the knowledge and skills of the group members in the more professional maintenance of KUB chickens, especially in making local feed formulations and hatching techniques. The high enthusiasm of the group members was evident through their active participation in each training session, the application of the knowledge gained during the activities, and their implementation in the field. The conclusion from this service activity is the increased capacity of the Saiyo Sakato livestock group in the management of KUB chicken maintenance, which not only enhances productivity and efficiency but also supports the sustainability of livestock businesses in the area through the utilisation of local resources and technological innovation. This activity provides a replicable model for empowering livestock groups in other areas with similar conditions.

Abstract

Goats are one of the small ruminants as meat and milk producers (dual-purpose), but cow's milk is widely sold in the market. Goat milk is no less nutritious than cow's milk; besides having an advantage in protein content, goat milk also contains more vitamins A and B (especially riboflavin and niacin). One of the goats widely cultivated by farmers and utilized as a source of animal protein, meat, and milk is the Ettawa crossbred goat. As researchers have widely reported, the potential of Ettawa crossbred goats is that milk producers are still very diverse, ranging between 0.45 and 2.2 kg/head/day. This is generally caused by maintenance management, which still needs to be improved. The purpose of this service is to counsel Azhar Farm farms on the management of raising Ettawa crossbred goats to get maximum productivity. The methods used are counseling, training, coaching, discussion, and evaluation of service activities. The activity results include improving farmers' ability to apply the management of raising Ettawa crossbred goats, which are dairy-type goats (milk producers), and increasing their productivity. It is hoped that this activity can motivate farmers to develop their livestock business to improve livestock health, increase population, increase production, and increase income for farmers.
