Abstract

This study focus on how contextual teaching-learning (CTL), as one of learning method, can improve student engagement. Participants of this study were 156 college students in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. The study was conducted with an experimental approach. Measurement of student engagement was done by using School Engagement Scale. This scale was adapted into Indonesia version, and it has Cronbach’s Alpha coefficient 0.859 with 15 items. Result of data analysis showed that there was a significant difference on student engagement among college students (p=0.042), but student engagement scores in posttest was smaller than scores in pretest (N Negative Ranks = 83, Mean rank = 78.20; N Positive Rank = 64, Mean rank = 68.55; Ties = 9). Additional analysis was also discussed in this study.From this result, we can conclude that CTL not effective to improve student engagement among college students. Results and limitations of this study are discussed further in this paper.

Abstract

This study aims to describe how teachers in applying authentic assessment in historical learning in accordance with the demands of Curriculum 2013. This research is a qualitative descriptive study. The data collection techniques used are observation, interview, and documentation study. Data were analyzed by data reduction, data presentation, and conclusions. The result of the research shows that: 1) teachers and principals are able to apply authentic assessment in history lessons based on attitude, knowledge, and skill attitudes assessment, 2) real authentic assessment implemented by teacher in the field so that the result of the learner achievement until end of semester) 3) the assessment done by the teacher is not just knowledge but how the teacher understands each developmental characteristics of the learners, 4) by performing an authentic assessment in the learning history of learners have the intellectual ability and academic brilliance, the heirs of the values of nationality and have concern for the problems of life society and nation by conducting an authentic assessment in the learning history of learners having intellectual ability and academic brilliance, the heirs of national values and having concern for the present and future life of society.

Abstract

Membantai Kabau Nan Gadang is the traditional herritage from ancestors with a purpose planting patterns simultaneously. In a Minangkabau proverb is said “ka sawah basamo-samo, ka ladang badakok-dakok”. The history of this traditional ceremony is a form of trustworthiness of the local community which is a part of the local wisdom in farming activity for increasing sufficiency of food through planting patterns simultaneously. The purposes of this research are : background of the traditional ceremony and the implementation process. This research is qualitative research. It was conducted with the ethnography approach. The results of this research: The history of this traditional ceremony was a symbol peace between ancestors in snatching area, and reasons of the society defend: belief of nature, the history of Nagari Alam Pauh Duo, and collective awareness of niniak mamak. The process in two days. The first day is slaughtering buffalo. The second day is eating bajamba surang-surang, watching regional art, agriculture department officer gives instructions and reading amad. The last step is closing by praying together.

Abstract

Adolescence has a task to accomplish in order to accept the changes that occur. Encouragement achieves the full developmental task of mature sexual adolescence that comes from teenage interest and curiosity about sexuality. However, adolescents vent their curiosity to physical behavior that is part of sexual harassment. The high level of negative behavior toward sex this the attention of educators in preventing and overcoming them. Guidance and Counseling in schools has a preventive function, whereby Counselors can guide clients against self-harmful behavior with varied and flexible behaviors and techniques. Modules with high adaptability to the development of science and technology in the form of electronic module (e-module) can be a media service Counselor. E-module is a user manual in digital version that can be opened by using electronic device. The module may obtain Counselors in the form of services in a certain format.

Abstract

This study aims to reveal the effect of work discipline motivation on civil servants performance working at Kerinci Regency Regional Secretariat. because there is a problem the employee performance it is proven by preliminary data that researchers get there are still targets that have not been fully realized. This research used quantitative method. The population of this study was all civil servants serving in the Kerinci Regency Regional Secretariat. Respondents in this study were amounted to 95 samples. The data collection technique used in this study was proportional stratified random sampling technique. The data was collected through questionnaires that have been tested of their validity and reliability in advance, both the content and empirical test items in the field. Data analysis technique used in this research was multiple regressions. The results showed that there is a significant effect of work discipline and motivation on Kerinci Regency Regional Secretariat civil servants performance. This means that higher-level work discipline and motivation will improve civil servants performance.

Abstract

This research synthesizes the theory of applying Charles Edwards III, with 4 variables; communication, disposition, resources and organizational structure. This team principally assisted the Governor in overseeing and managing complaints relating to public services. This team has the main duty of handling public service complaints for the people in West Sumatra. Provincial government of West Sumatera has not been sufficient in implementing Presidential regulation No. 76 of 2013 on Public Service Complaint Management. In effective TP4 performance in accepting public complaints has an effect on the aims and objectives of the Presidential Regulation. TP4 West Sumatera Province more dominates the prevention performance, TP4 conducts guidance and monitoring both through working visit as well as Provincial Service Competency Assessment Team at Provincial level.

Abstract

Teachers have a very important role in the whole process of achieving the goals of national education. Teachers as educators are required to have maximum performance for the purpose of national education can be achieved. The purpose of this study is to look whether servant leadership and school organizational culture simultaneously influence the performance of public senior high school teacher in Padang City. The research method used is associative quantitative method, data analysis used in this research is regression analysis technique. The research method used is associative quantitative method, the population of this research is teachers of State Senior High School in Padang City, with the number of samples is 292 teachers. The results of this study are: servant leadership and school organizational culture simultaneously have a significant effect on teachers performance at Public Senior High School in Padang City.

Abstract

Absolute synonymy never encountered in any language. The near synonyms still have different meanings, though only in nuances. If there is no difference in nuance between the pairs of synonyms then one of the words will disappear from the vocabulary. This study aims to explain the nuances of meaning and kind of pair synonym sensory response in Indonesian adjektive. This research is a qualitative descriptive method. The results showed that: (1) not all sensory responses Indonesian adjectives have a pairs synonym; (2) there are different nuance of meaning in every pair of synonymous sensory response adjektive; and (3) only two kind of synonymy in pairs synonymous sensory response adjectives was found, they are complete and absolute, and incomplete and not absolute. Synonyms word can concretize the use a personal language, so that trought language the communication is clear interesting. Paying attention to nuances of meaning that is synonymous Indonesian adjectives in speaking and writing can add color, sharpness, and precision of the wording.

Abstract

Language is an important aspect of communication. The success in communication is determined by the language ability, including the expressive language. Children with hearing impairment have obstacles to conduct expressive language due to the lack of auditory experience. Thus, maternal reflective method can be used to improve the expressive language ability. This method is applied in a structured natural conversation by presenting the language fairly through conversation, visualization, deposit and reflection in order to retrieve the linguistic aspects. The findings showed that the method was effective for improving the ability of expressive language. This research was conducted by the pre-test and post-test values using the Mann Whitney U test, it was obtained that U = 6 and Utab = 2 with n = 5 at a significant level of 95% and α = 0.05. As U was higher than Utab, the alternative hypothesis was accepted.

Abstract

Self regulated learning was very important in student self, but still found student who have symptoms of selfregulated learning was low, it was seen during class timestudents use smarthphone clandestinely.Efforts made in improving selfregulated learning was using information services using collaborative learning through facebook. This study was aimed to test effectiveness of using information services with the collaborative learning through facebook improving self regulated learning students.This research uses quantitative method. The type of research was Quasi Experiment with The Non Equivalent Control Group Design. The subjectswere students of national madrasah aliyahBarumun Tengah as an experimental group and students at national madrasah aliyahMarenu as the control group.The research result shows that the information services using collaborative learning through facebook was effective to improving self regulated learning students seen from the average posttest of experimental group 148.65 and control group 137.11.
