Abstract

The extensive use of inorganic fertilizer can affect soil fertility. To overcome these problems it is necessary to improve soil fertility. One of them is by adding organic matter using organic fertilizer. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the application of organic fertilizer management on growth and NPK nutrient uptake of three varieties of upland rice. his experiment used a factorial randomized block design. The first factor was a variety consisting of three levels, namely: V1 (Inpago 8), V2 (Inpago 12), and V3 (Inpago 13 Fortiz). The second factor was a organic fertilizer management which consists of four levels, namely: F1 (recommended dose of inorganic fertilizer), F2 (cow dung + biochar), F3 (solid vermicompost + biochar) and F4 (nanovermicompost + biochar). The research results showed that in general the V1F1 treatment (Inpago 8 with recommended doses of inorganic fertilizer) gave a good response to the growth of upland rice. Kinds of organic fertilizer management treatment using vermicompost is the best treatment

Abstract

Demand for onions is always increasing but is constrained by large areas, expensive fertilizer, sensitivity to climate change, expensive seed prices, pests, and disease attacks. The size of local shallot bulbs is much smaller than imported shallots, but the color of the bulbs is redder and the taste is spicier. In order to overcome this problem, there needs to be an effort to improve the plant and shallot cultivation activities using colchicine to obtain superior properties and in combination with cow manure. . This research aims to determine the effect of colchicine and cow manure on the growth and production of the Bima variety of shallots. The research was carried out in January–September 2023 in the experimental garden of the Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Pembinaan Masyarakat Indonesia, Medan. The research method used a completely randomized design, namely colchicine concentration (0 ppm, 300 ppm, and 600 ppm), soaking time (0; 4 hours; 8 hours), and cow manure (0; 2kg; 4 kg), which was repeated in 3 repetitions. The results showed that the concentration of colchicine, soaking time, and cow manure had a significant effect on plant height, number of leaves, number of tillers, tuber diameter, wet tuber weight per hill, and wet tuber weight per plot. The 300 ppm soaking concentration treatment had a significant effect on these factors. for 8 hours and 4 kg of cow manure, and all treatments were significantly different from control plants.

Abstract

The level of effectiveness of organic fruit waste used as organic fertilizer is not yet known. This research was carried out to test the use of liquid organic fertilizer derived from fruit peel waste (pineapple, banana and the addition of Tithonia diversifolia leaves) on the growth and yield of kailan plants. The research design used was a Randomized Block Design which consisted of eleven POC concentration treatments (composition of POC and water) and was repeated three times. Data on plant growth and yield parameters were analyzed variance at the 5% level, and if there was a significant effect, the Least Significant Difference Test was continued at the 5% level. The results showed that the application of fruit waste POC with compositions ranging from 20 ml POC + 80 ml water (P2) to 65 ml POC + 35 ml water (P8) provided growth in plant height, number of leaves, leaf area and the fresh weight of the plant is better until harvest at 12 days after planting. Providing increasingly concentrated fruit waste POC of 70 ml + 30 ml water (P9) to 75 ml + 25 ml water (P10) reduces the fresh weight of the crop

Abstract

A research to know the influence of washing treatments and various natural adsorbent as storage media of fresh cassava has been done in Agriculture laboratory of the University of Islam Malang. The research was done using 2 factors (washing treatment and of natural adsorbents). The first factor consisted of 2 levels: no washing and washing treatment. The second factor consisted of 5 levels (without natural absorbent, river sand, charcoal husk, wood charcoal, and ashes). The storage was done for 2 weeks. The parameters observed were weight loss (%), moisture content (%), total soluble solid, total microbes, and sensory test (colour, aroma, and taste of the cassava). The result showed that quantitatively the cassava stored in the river sand without water treatment gave the best performance. It had the highest water content (33,40%) at the last observed (2 weeks storage). Respondents liked the cassavas which were stored in the river sand as adsorbent media. Further research using river sand l as the natural adsorbent in cassava storage should be done accurately to know the effect of the adsorbent to the nutrition change and economic value of the storage system.

Abstract

Livestock urine is one of the potential raw materials for for making potential liquid organic fertilizer (POC). Livestock urine contains various important nutrients, such as nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium. Research This research was conducted to obtain the right and efficient concentration of rabbit urine liquid organic fertilizer on growth and K uptake. Concentration of rabbit urine liquid organic fertilizer that is appropriate and efficient on the growth and K uptake of sweet corn plants. This research was organized using a completely randomized design (RAL) consisting of 5 levels, namely K0 (no urine), K1 (POC concentration of 5%), K2 (POC concentration 10%), K3 (POC concentration 15%), and K4 (20% concentration). Data from the observations obtained The data from the observations obtained were analyzed using variance analysis (ANOVA) or F test at the 5% level to determine the effect of POC treatment along with the concentration of urine. If there is significant differences, it was continued with the Least Significant Difference (BNT) test with a level of 5%. Simple linear regression analysis was also conducted simple linear regression analysis to determine the optimum concentration on sweet corn plant growth. The results of the study generally showed that the K4 treatment (20% POC concentration) is the best treatment and significantly influenced the parameters of plant height, stem diameter, number of leaves, and K uptake in sweet corn plants. Based on simple linear regression test simple linear regression test can not be determine the optimum dose, because it still shows a simple linear response, meaning that with increasing concentrations, the uptake of K in sweet corn plants is higher.

Abstract

Romaine lettuce is a popular vegetable consumed because of its sweet taste, crunchy texture, and better nutritional content than other types of lettuce. These advantages make its demand continue to increase. Hydroponic is known for its greater harvest potential than conventional systems. However, with the potential for abundant yields, of course, the resulting harvest residue is also increasingly abundant. This waste can be used as organic fertilizer and returned as nutrients to plants. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of utilizing agricultural waste as a nutritional supplement on hydroponic romaine lettuce cultivation. The study was arranged in a simple RAK with 5 levels of concentration treatment, P0 = 0%; P1 = 20%; P2 = 40%; P3 = 60%; P4 = 80%. The results showed that P0 (control) and P3 (60% concentration) showed results that were not significantly different in plant height, canopy width, and fresh weight. In total fresh weight, P3 (60% concentration) showed the best treatment. Meanwhile, in terms of stomata width, P1 (20% concentration) and P3 (60% concentration) showed no significant differences. However, organic fertilizers have a phytotoxic effect on plants. Based on the correlation test, plant height, canopy width, stomata width, and humidity were positively correlated with total fresh weight.

Abstract

Wall gardening is a matching method of planting that utilizes walls both inside and outside the room. This urban farming model has become a trend in various urban areas. This study aims to find out the impact of the interaction of the composition of the growing media and the fermentation of the plant media on the growth, yield and quality of celery crops. (Apium graveolens L.). This study uses Factorial Group Random Planning (RAK). The first factor is the composition of various porous plant media (raw rice husks, rice husks charcoal, volcanic sands, cocopeat, chopped fern, andam, manure) (M) with 4 different compositions (M1 = 5: 0,5:2:0,5:0,5::0,5:5:0,5), (M2 = 3:1:1:1:2:1:1), ( M3 = 1:1:1:1:1:1) (M4 = 5:1:0,5:1:1:0), the second factor is fermentation of plant media. (F1 fermentation dan F2 non fermentation). The results of the study show that the treatment of composition of plant media (M) and fermentation of plant medium (F) only affects the variable length of plant and the number of leaf stems. Generally speaking, M3 treatment (porous plant media composition 1:1:1:1:1:1) is a medium composition that has the best growth, yield and quality compared to other compositions. Fermentation on the growing medium only affects the number of breeds and number of leaf sticks.
